USA SPEC BT45 HON3 works great on my '04 TL with Navi. What's nice is I don't have to manually connect the Bluetooth each time I get in the car. I don't know why I did go with this first. NVM, I was pretty cheap and went with an Aux adapter thing. The aux held up for 5yrs and now its shotty. Pretty easy to set up USA SPEC BT45 HON3. It took about 10~15 mins to hook it up from the time of opening my trunk. Thanks for the video Mr.Logic23
Fantastic product since the factory installed device has an inherent problem of discharging your battery you can completely disable the factory unit and enable the hands free and steaming option --two problems solved. Hope Acura is listing to its customers solutions.
Great review! thank you very much.6:50 it "robs" the XM1 band for Bluetooth functionality, XM2 stays intact as XM satellite radio.6:55 you don't loose XM. Because XM1 band is robbed, you go from 12XM presets to 6XM presets. because XM1 is now used for BT45 Bluetooth functionality. - For this setup, you must install the BT45 at the XM tuner location (not behind the radio), the microphone cable length is 5 meters long. This way you will get TEXT display! and all functions stay intact.
+OfficialUSASPEC Thank you for commenting on my video! it means a lot for me. You see I have installed the device at best buy, and they have told me that if I install it through the XM I will lose the XM satellite radio. However, when I have purchased the device from USA SPEC information outlet store they have told me I can use it through the XM. I will love to have that option with where I can see the text on my screen. I do have a couple questions for you, why would best buy make such a statement about losing my XM functionality? and if I decided to reinstall it through the XM, would the quality be the same as through CD changer? Thanks
+Mr.Logic23 not sure why best Buy would make that statement, unless they were under impression behind-the-radio was the only option as far as installation goes for the BT45. I can understand where you come from, I too would love to see text on my radio's display when streaming Bluetooth music. Take a look at the video link, that is how the install should have been done in your Acura. Even though the video installation is of a Honda, the XM receiver is located in the same location as your Acura. The audio quality is just as good through the XM plug as it is behind the radio... let us know if we can be of any more assistance.
watch out bruh, im asking ***** i heard it only uses one xm channel and u can keep the other, thus keeping all stock funtions. as well as hands free calling with the steering wheel buttons. isimple keeps hfl but uses the channel buttons to answer and end calls. since u didnt install it im asking them
I can just save some money by buying the 2006 model instead of the 2007 for the aux jack! All I got to do now is to buy the car and find the right store/person to install this for me. Thanks for the video!
+Vscounter I am so glad to hear that man. Do me a favor, once you get the car post a video of it so I can check out your Acura! Thanks for liking my video.
+Mr.Logic23 Sure yeah. I found one in the color that I want (Ex:Blue: Int: Tan) I just need to bring a mechanic friend to see the condition of the car.
I installed mine at the radio end in my 2005 Acura TL no navigation. First it works in XM2 not XM1. There is also XM bleed through. I don't use XM so will try disconnecting the XM antenna in the trunk. The hands free is great! Hey Siri works great. Also did a USB 3.5 extender into my accessory cubby below the Radio and my iPod sounds great through that. Only complaint is the XM bleed through and that the USB is for power only. Hooking and controlling my iPod through steering wheel controls with USB connection would have made it complete.
Bought the same BT45 HON3 for my 06 TL. Fucking orgasm. If you have a 2004-2008 TL and want bluetooth, this is a must-buy. Yes it's like about 145 bucks give or take but it's totally fucking worth it. I tried a bluetooth FM transmitter and I wasn't entirely too happy with it plus the audio quality is not as good as this with the stock radio. Installation is kind of easy. And if you bought it and are about to install it, configure the DIP thingy to have 2 and 4 OFF but leave 1 and 3 ON and take off the little extension thingy.
I'm buying a 3rd generation Acura TL and I was hoping there was a modification that let me do media streaming, thanks for the information. Let me add, great music choice, Markus Schulz.
Installed the BT45-HON3 in my '05 TL, but the steering wheel control don't always work. Sometimes I can switch to the next track, but most of the times I can't. Volume works fine though, as does the bluetooth connection. I have to switch tracks via the phone, and navi has reset a couple of times.
I think it might be the music app on your playback device. The same thing happened to me when Im using the PowerAmp player for Android with my Jaybird BlueBuds X but since I updated it to the beta version of PowerAmp, it works flawlessly.
I have a 2006 TL with Navi... Thanks for providing this info... Love my car... needed the Bluetooth for music streaming... But I also want this device for telephone calls... The factory Bluetooth calling is dated... it's a pain in the button making calls while driving with the dated factory technology..
Hi great video, thanks for the review. I have a quick question. If you make the SPEC Bluetooth both audio and hands free calling does the call button on the steering wheel still work?
b20ferio In my case, I have to connect my phone to it every time after I turn my car off. If you turn off your car, and start your car few hours later you have to start the process all over again. It is quite annoying.
i totally understand why people want bluetooth.. but i make do fine with the AUX considering the quality is better.. but of course I'd love to have the song title and artist on my screen.. USAspec please add album art and I'm sold!! lol
hey Mr.Logic I have an 06 tl and I'm having problems pairing phones to the hfl. I thought at first it was because my moto x was to new for it to work but I saw in this video you have an S6.I was wondering if you have had problems as well and found a remedy for it ?
Kelly Jackson hi there and thanks for stopping by. to be honest with you my hfl recently went out and I am in the process of replacing it. let's talk about your issue, have you even paired your phone previously with your hfl bluetooth?
So this will work on the 07 TL with Nav right? Did I order the wrong one? Because on the website it says I need the BT45-ACU. Please let me know because I'm about to pay a shop to install it and they said if I ordered the wrong one and it doesn't work I'm out of $130.
@@ubiased23 sweet Even though I was rear ended at a red light by a Denali today after having her back for less than 48 hours after paying 750 bucks to fix it.
I love my TL ! I wish the factory Bluetooth came with call as well as audio . But this will do ! Thanks for the heads up . Do You figure it’s possible to just remove the factory Bluetooth device all together ?? I hear it can drain the battery for a time, even when the cars off and that’s even after it stopped functioning after so many years:/
Any good radio shop wouldn't make you cut out your panels to install a radio we simply use dash kits to keep the stock panels for later uninstall (including a harness rather than cutting and solder) that aside I agree I love the style and look of the center console, it's beautiful (the no Navi version is ugly though imo)
can someone just re explain to me how the microphone included instead of the HandsFreeLink. My HFL is stuck on "Booting Up" and since this comes with the mic I'd rather not replace the module. but will i be able to use mic without HFL?
I am not sure if I follow you bro, I understood the booting up part. that means your hfl is going bad man. you can reset the entire thing by unplugging your car battery. give that a try, but if that doesn't work then buy used one and it is easy diy job.
Thank you so much for sharing this! Great advice. I'm glad you figured this out. Now I won't have to do so much research either lol. It's also excellent that USASPEC posted additional info in the comments, so we get some tech info. Any chance you can give a heads up ball park figure on amount Best Buy charged for install? Thanks in advance.
+Ian Belloso Hello there! Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my video. I assume that you are an Acura TL owner as well? it costs me $65 for the installation at best buy. You are right about USASPEC, they are very polite and professional people to deal with. I had a lovely experience by talking to them on the phone, and their customer service is absolutely phenomenal. The representatives on the phone were very informed, and definitely know their products. Let me know how it goes for you when you install the device.
Mr.Logic. I will let you know, and based on some info I got off the USASPEC website, I may even do the install myself. I'll send you a cross link if I can get a video of it. Thanks again.
I disagree with the tape aux, I have one in my TL and the sound quality is great just like stock so no need for me for installing an aftermarket Bluetooth. Besides, this is an old car so I don’t see the point for aftermarket installations.
Assuming you don't use the cassette deck go to a store and for 5-10 bucks just buy the cassette conversion audio plug in from your phone to the cassette player instead of streaming it a cheap and easy fix instead of paying an outrageous price for a complicating hook up that takes to much time and effort to install lol
John Riggs you missed the whole point. The beauty about wireless bluetooth setup is to get quality sound and to avoid all of the wires hassles. You can get the tape deck conversion, but those tape decks will last about 3-5 years. Also, i did a video of trying to help out other Acura TL owners. So why the hostility about this option?

Is this still the best choice for Acura TL 2005's? USA Spec lists this thing for $240+ on their site - Amazon has a couple under $200.

If you don't know yet, the BT45-HON3 does include a very long microphone to connect to the device all the way to the front.
Hi great video, thanks for the review. I have a quick question. If you make the SPEC Bluetooth both audio and hands free calling does the call button on the steering wheel still work?
+YoNaj ! that phone button still works the way it normally does, with the oem hfl system.
Does it connect automatically when you get in the car or do you have to connect it manually every time you get into the car?
b20ferio In my case, I have to connect my phone to it every time after I turn my car off. If you turn off your car, and start your car few hours later you have to start the process all over again. It is quite annoying.

Kelly Jackson try to post a video of it so I can help you out in a more technical manner.
so why didnt you just use the aux port in the armrest???
It doesn't have an auxiliary port in the 2004-2005 Acura TL.
Mr.Logic23 2006 doesn't have it either unfortunately.
But can it still pause the music and switch to the call when a one comes through and automatically pick it up again when the call ends?
Do you know if i'd be able to change the track via the steering wheel buttons if I hooked it up through XM?
If it is hooked up through XM you are still able to change the track from the steering wheel without any issues.
