Finally another great performance of this beautiful and glorious piece of music. Props to the solo players of WDR Funkhausorchester for this wonderful display.
Pride of Mexico indeed! And now of Queensland, Australia. 'Twas a sad day her tenure ended here & perhaps we may borrow her from time to time. I look forward to the day when Alondra doesn't have to travel to this edge of the perimeter of civilisation. Perhaps one day technology will catch up in a good way and we might see her as a hologram or perhaps bodily by some realistic form of fast transport. Come back Alondra. 👍
I am amazed at the complexity of all the solos! I have never heard a piece demanding such excellence in all departments! Well done this orchestra🥰🥰🥰what,s next on the menu? M.M.
We were so lucky to have Alondra as the Director of the Queensland Symphony for 3 years. Sadly due to work commitments I never saw her in person, perhaps one day though😊
The preceding flute variation is crotchet = 132, the clarinet variation is dotted crotchet = 132, so they are connected in tempo. Of course, that speed compounds the difficulties for the clarinetist and rarely do you hear it played up to what's in the score. And then there's that horror run up to the high C#...
Ginastera was indeed a great composer. He wrote a tonal music that both reminds of his country's musical traditions and sticks to western tonal music traditions. In addition, he was an actual convinced strong democrat, who did not hesitate to openly conflict with h the bloody military dictatorship. These "variaciones conertantes" are fill of orchestral anr thematic imagination. Tjey do nt stock to national traditions as many of his scores. They are more in line with occidental scores, bringing musical imagination, crativity and writing qualities of his own.
Not a a genre of music that I am particularly familiar with or like as it has always seemed disjointed and non sequitur. But Wow !!! That was interesting and amazing giving each instrument it's roll showing off its character and nature. I particularly light the peace when they took off being spunky and playful🎉.
Alberto Evaristo Ginastera was an Argentinian composer of classical music. He is considered to be one of the most important 20th-century classical composers
Oh yeah! I switch back and worth from the wild cavemen of AC/DC to Handel and yeah, it rocks. Passion above all else in 🎶🎶- I shall prepare to duck munitions from every direction. 💥💥💥
Thank you WDR for sharing this with us! Love from Argentina!
You're welcome!
We're glad that you like it 🤗
Ginastera’s signature: the open strings of the tuned guitar. From there on is a wonderful fabric. Great composer!
Clarinet variation starts at 4:46
That's what we're all here for!

We keep our fingers crossed for you. 😊
That was a monster tempo for the clarinet variation.
I came from your comment on Twoset lol
Normal, it goes well 😃

He did play 'B's' instead of the written 'C#'s' in the last measures though. Neat trick. Maybe I will use it if I am having a bad day.
Error typing - written 'G#'s'
I love it how all of a sudden the flute has it!

Interessante Beobachtung!
@@fernandourtext3323 Ok.
Unhappily we are not hearing new compositions in the mid 20th century idiom like this lovely work. Minimalism, etc., ..... ugh!
17:17 solo double-bass
XII - 19:05
Usual - play once, hmm. Second time - gee! Third time! I obviously wasn't listening as clearly at one and two. WOW. 💓

Bloody militar golpista Perón ???

It's my understanding that Alondra was born in New York but spent her early life in Mexico.
Yes born in US but parents mexicans so Mexican. Probably having both nacionalities.
'GINASTRERA'
Oh, thanks for the tip! We corrected it.
@@WDRKlassik Correct it, please!
Now we corrected it properly.

What’s “bad” about this piece?
