    Thank you! This was very timely for me. I was just redoing my set and some of the new lights had a flicker on camera. I’m new to this so this really helped.

    Thanks for this! Been battling mixed lighting on locations recently and was assuming it was an fps issue rather than shutter speed!

    If someone faces this issue with their webcam, go to camera settings and change anti-flicker to 50Hz or 60Hz and check. You're welcome!

    So, they always recommend that you shoot double the speed of your frame rate. Does that rule just not apply when you get this banding?

    Thanks for this excellent explanation. I am using a time lapse phone app called Lapse It to record desk artwork being created on white paper. The flicker is terrible. Controlling the shutter speed to a (UK) 50th second is possible but the other aperture/ISO controls are pretty non existent so my image is blown out. I am stuck with a shutter speed of anything between 1/1000 and 1/200. I am lighting it with a powerful overhead LED light strip but it's not specifically a VIDEO LIGHT. Is that what I'm doing wrong? Should I be investing in a specific type of light to counteract the flicker as you have listed in your notes?

    This does not address pwm led flicker where off times vary. How do you fix when shutter is scan lines on a sensor and not a real shutter.

    Can I continue to use 24 fps and 60 fps in the UK but still try and eliminate flicker with shutter speed? Or will I be forced to give up the 10 frames from 60 down to 50

      PL, always happy to see you sir!
      The cupboard is unfortunately a work in progress - been moving house (and having several nightmares to sort in the process) meaning the new place is rather chaotic and shooting space not set up yet. Hopefully it will take shape soon and I've got one or two more vids to finish filmed in the old place still to go!
      Hope you're doing well and have a great weekend:)

    Thanks but you missed a simple one, raising the brightness of the camera a little will solve the problem like magic.

      Can you explain this at all? I have a new LED sign for in my studio that will not stop flickering until I get down to 1/20 shutter speed. What do you mean by raising the brightness?

    • @humane81
      @humane81 11 месяцев назад

      just increase the brightness from the camera settings until the flickering disappear@@mrupsidedownshorts
