1 minute poached eggs
1. Always use room temperature water. Measure 1/2 cup of water in a ramekin.
2. Salt the water.
3. Carefully break the egg into the ramekin.
4. Place the ramekin into the microwave and cook for 1 minute. All microwaves are different so start at 45 seconds until you understand how yours will work. Add time in 5 second increments.
5. Take the ramekin out of the oven and remove the egg with a slotted spoon. If you do not have one, carefully use a fork or a spoon (tilt it to drain the liquid) and place it on a paper towel to drain.
6. Enjoy on a piece of toast. Хобби
Egg exploded. Had to clean my microwave. Now it’s the cleanest it’s been in years. Thank you. Brilliant
😂🤣😂🤣 thanks, I needed that.
Same ffs. Won't be doing that again.
😅🤣 amazing
😂😂😂 sometimes we need that extra nudge to deep clean that microwave!
You need to stir/ break up the white, and pierce the yolk, only once. I do mine in a mug, and it doesn't explode.
I love poached eggs, but was always a problem making them. This is just what I needed to make my perfect breakfast addition. Now I am 71, and finally have your formula for success! Thank you so much!!!
Beautiful! I am so happy you like this and that it works for you! Thank you!
Exactly what I was looking for! This beautiful lady showed me how to make the perfect poached egg! SO easy! Thank you!
For those worried about exploding eggs...just be sure that the egg is covered with water (just like poaching in a pan of simmering water...must be submerged no matter what technique.)!
Perfect! Thanks so much for sharing!
@@Thefrugalchef We are enjoying poached eggs without the fuss, thanks for your very clear video!
I always have covered the egg in water and it still has exploded.
@@renoraider9817 Hmmm...strange. Perhaps your microwave is more potent than my 800 one.
Did u salt the water?@@renoraider9817
Thank you for this technique! I will definitely try it next time!
OMG !!! I used to watch you religiously when I lived in Canada. Here I am living in Mexico & just scrolling through You Tube and there you are !! WOW ! I am soooo glad I found you.
Really cool !!!
Just made one! Perfection! Thank you so much! Previously I was boiling perfectly measured vinegar and salted water for several minutes. Now done in a flash!
Fantastic! I am very happy this worked for you! Thank for letting me know.

Thank you! I hope it comes out perfect for you! 😊
DANGEROUS
Followed your instructions to the letter after setting power at 700W and timing for exactly 1 minute. As you said, Perfection perfection perfection! I will use no other way from now on. Thanks!
Beautiful! Thank you so much for letting me know 🙂

Perfect! Thanks for letting me know!
Shill alert
Hi Maryanne just thought I would say hello and thank you for your great poached egg idea I did 50sec im my 1000watts unit the poached egg was OMG well poached and delicious tks I am calling you a microwave genius

Perfect! Thanks so much for letting me know 😊
I love poached egg always looking for a quick way 🙌
Delicious.! Thank you.
Thank you. Ihave been making eggs for egg sandwiches in the microwave for a yeT on my own lessons over tome. Now I canmake my favorite eggs. Am thri😊lled.
I love this microwave method of poaching. It is so fast and easy. As you say, water temperature and your specific microwave matter. I poach directly in the 1-cup pyrex measuring cup. 1/2 cup cold tap water, 1 ice cube, 50 seconds on high.
Well now, I have done this many times! I boil water in my kettle first, then pour it into a mug, about 2/3 full, Then break an egg into the very hot, but still water, put it into my microwave [850watts] but only for 40 seconds! Any longer and the egg will explode [it has done that to me?!] but I learn FAST!!! Perfect results every time now!! Yea!
This method is so simple and good - have used it several times so far. Always great results.
Perfect! Thank you for letting us know 😊
Perfection. Thank you!
It is amazing how well this works. I have a 1200 watt microwave and found that 35-39 seconds is perfect, using the same 1/2 cup room-temperature water in a similar-sized Pyrex glass bowl like in the video.
Perfect! Thank you so much for letting me know. I am happy this worked for you.
Thank you. It always helps when the wattage of the oven is mentioned. 100%for you Mark
must say..................... best easiest eggs ever ... forget them nonsy chefs ideas .. sometimes simple is the best way forward . great thanks Frugal
Most welcome 😊 I ma very happy you like this!
I made two eggs for Benedict. I have one Pyrex ramikin, so I cooked one egg in there and the other in the 1 C. Pyrex measuring cup. They both turned out great! My microwave is 1000w and 1 minute was perfect for each. Thank you 😊
Eggcelent video for poached eggs, thks very much !!
Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. 😘
Awesome! I hope it works as well for you as it does me! Thanks 😊
I was really skeptical right up to the point I tried this and it worked . . . PERFECTLY. Thanks !!
I use the ½ cup of cold water method and 1 minute in the microwave, the results are really consistent.
Thank you so much Brian! My favorite way to poach eggs. I am very happy it worked for you!
Thank you. I did it and it worked so good and fast!

My breakfast sorted out then ! 😋 I was a bit confused because my ramequin bowl is only 4cm deep. So I used a small chinese bowl and it was just perfect ! So easy, quick, and really I must thank you, I never thought about it !
Perfect! Thanks for watching the video
You can also just nuke it in the measuring cup.
Wow thanks. I thought you had to poke the yolk or it would explode, so I've never tried poaching in the microwave. The water must be the secret! Totally having this for breakfast tomorrow!
I hope it comes out perfect for you! Thank you! 😊
ABSOLUTELY
Brilliant, I can't wait for breakfast tomorrow😊

My Vietnam vet friend told me about this method. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm convinced now that it will work. Question. Do you salt the water before hand and can you do multiple eggs at the same time? I subscribed and liked.
per-fect-a-mundo!!!! Now I don't have to eat cold hard-boiled eggs all the time ... thanks!
Thank you so much! I can’t wait for the morning now!!!! 😊
I hope it worked for you. Thanks so much 😊
I just received my microwave (first one...I was always resistant). Mine has 800W. I tried for 45 seconds and it was perfect. Thank you!
Yay!! Thanks for letting me know 😊
800w, Non refrigerated egg, tap water. egg white still not fully formed after two minutes.😢
@@maddang1797 Hmmmm...perhaps my egg was smaller than yours?
I don’t care for poached eggs, but my friend does, so I’ll forward this on to her! 💕
what type of eggs do you like?
Thank you for your interesting lesson but I would really like to know what wattage you used. That would, of course, make a difference on the cooking time. 750 w or 1000w? thank you.
I like 3 poached eggs at a time. Could I do 3 individual ones (just like yours - in separate ramekins) at the same time in my microwave or would that goof things up? Thanks.
yup it works.
Perfect
I am glad you like it! Thanks!
My microwave like many others have a chosen heat 600 or 800 and even lower, I would love to know what was used for the you tube video as it turned out beautifully. 😊
That looks good
Thanks 😊
Very nice thanks!
My pleasure! Thank you for watching!
nice thanks
perfect thanks again
You are welcome! Thank you for watching the video! 😊
Thank you for sharing.
My pleasure! I hope it worked well for you!
What is the wattage of your oven mine is 1000 wats but it can be lowered as I think it would be way too high to poach an egg 🥚 and yours looked delicious
Perfect 👍🏼
Thank you Meleen! 😊
Tried it. Works great. Wanted something light for dinner and so had poached eggs. One thing to consider, however. How long does it take to cook 4 of them? After 1 minute, we continued cooking in 30 sec periods. We didn't keep close track, but seemed to take 4 min. You need to serve quickly, though. They continue cooking as long as they are in the water. Still, we have a new favored meal. Thanks . . .
Thanks David! I am happy this worked for you and yes it is harder to monitor when you have more eggs. I end up making them one at a time which is not ideal. I really appreciate you letting us know. 😊
I'm going to try your method. I love eating poached eggs on toast but I rarely cook the egg right. P.S. I just joined your channel.
Welcome and thank you! I hope these worked out for you!
SO EASY WOW
Thanks for watching the video! It really is that easy! Hope you give it a try 😊
Definitely going to try this. Hope it works for me. 😊

You're welcome! Thanks for letting me know! 😊
Brilliant
Thanks Louise!
Thanks , good video
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching the video.
I poach them in a ramekin using a tiny bit of butter or oil. I suppose technically it's not poaching but the results are excellent.
You must first find a ramekin that is right for the microwave. You need to test it to make sure. It's not suitable if after a couple of minutes it's burning hot.
When you've found a suitable vessel, put a small amount of butter in it and heat it on full power for about 45 seconds. You only need enough butter or oil to coat the inside. Don't overdo the butter and think it'll be nicer, you run the risk of the butter overheating and then it will splash. Use as little as you can get away with.Take it out and put your finger underneath. It should be hot but hot enough to touch. Swirl the butter round to coat the inside.
Crack an egg into it. A small egg will need 25 seconds, an extra large 35. This is for counter top eggs, eggs from the fridge will take about 5 seconds longer. Start with that and never give it more than an extra 5 seconds at a time. These timings will be way out if you don't pre-heat your ramekin and be way less predictable. Get in the habit of doing the finger test and knowing your machine.
That's it. It's much softer than a fried egg with a lot of yolk same as an egg poached in water but it'll come out a good shape and not be wet.
They will continue to cook for a minute or so after you've removed them from the oven so if they aren't quite solid enough for you, just wait. They'll slide out if you've managed to cover the inside of the ramekin with butter or oil, if not you'll have to run a knife around the top. The bottom will be fine
It's actually the most reliable way to cook eggs when you've done it a few times . If you always buy the same size eggs and keep them at the same temperature, they will come out exactly how you like them every time.
1 minute was a little too long in my 900 watt microwave....yolk exploded and yes, it was covered with room temp water...after clean up, tried again for 50 seconds....did not explode, yolk presented slightly more hard than I like....48 seconds in a 900 watt microwave with cold water was perfect for me. Thanks for motivating me to try this.
Thanks for trying it out 😊
Would the freshness (age) of egg make a difference ?
Okay. Unless I missed it what is the setting of the microwave? Most microwaves have a settings feature? 1 to 10, 10 being the highest. Also yolks, at least for me, have a tendency to explode at some point in the process unless it is poked several times with a tooth pick.
yum!
Thanks! 😊
I have tried various microwave methods for cooking my fav poached eggs without success so far! Will be giving your method a go and get back to you once tried but do have a quick question? How many watts power is your microwave so I can adjust accordingly
This one was 950 watts. Good luck!
Have looked at how to poach egg in a microwave. They tell you one minute or 45 seconds, etc. But I can't find a video where it says what setting do I use. Low, medium or high? What heat setting did you use on this video? May I ask. 😊
Can you cook more than one egg in the microwave
Does the egg also have to be at room temperature, or can you take them straight out of the refrigerator?
I use it straight from the fridge and it works just fine. I hope it comes out perfect for you! Thanks!
The water is room temperature but is the egg room temperature? Or can you just take the cold egg out of the fridge then put it in the room temperature water.
Hi Maryanne, what power is your microwave it will help me figure out my egg poaching time tks
I checked it and it is 950 Watts. I hope this works for you! Thanks! 😊
@@Thefrugalchef
Our unit is 1000 so I will start at 45 second and check
God bless you
And you as well! Thanks for stopping by! 😊
How about using milk or cream instead of water? And pouring over toast. Making a kind of milk toast recioe.
Honestly, I have no idea! If you do that, will you let us know how it comes out? Thanks 😊
What power setting?
A little bit of white vinegar usually goes into the water when making poached eggs. I noticed you don’t use any. I guess it doesn’t make any difference? Usually one would salt the egg after poaching the eggs. You put a little salt in there with it- is there a specific reason or just for flavor? Lastly, you crack the egg right into the water without straining off the runny. It looks like it came out great without even having to do so which is quite different when poaching in a pot. Your thoughts.
I just made poached eggs tonight in the pot-I’m going to do them your way in the microwave next time.
Hello there! I appreciate you stopping by and your message. For these microwaved eggs all you need to do it use room temperature water and add the egg. No vinegar necessary. I add the salt for flavor and it does not break the egg white. Please make sure that the eggs are completely submerged so that you have no issues with them bursting in the oven. I would love to hear how they come out. Thanks again!
What wattage is your microwave in this video?
Can you please say the watt of your microwave too? Like it would be easier for us
SALAM...SO JUICEY EGGS.THANKS
My pleasure! Thank you for stopping by!
It was about 1:45 but it worked thanks
What power is your own microwave?
Can you more than 1 egg at once?
But I want two poached eggs in the morning and I don't want to do the process twice. Do I do it for a minute or 2 minutes or a minute and 30 seconds. Any thoughts.
So you are going to have to play with your microwave for this. Place both eggs in a larger bowl, covered in room temperature water and start them at 60 seconds. The time will depend on the wattage of your machine. Look at the eggs and continue cooking them 10 seconds at a time until you have the desired consistency. Thank you for stopping by and I hope this works for you!
