    Yo my man!!! That was a dope tut! That plugin is somethin seious. For guys like us who are'nt that piano savvy, this opens the door to professional sounding capabilities! I've been using FL for years and you showed me something i have'nt known until now about the articulation modes.Thanks my dude!

    • @MGTheFuture
      @MGTheFuture  6 лет назад

      Yeah its a powerful helper indeed. The FL piano roll tools are typically covered in different contexts. As far as i know - I'm the only one that i use them that way (until now). LOL - but the rest of them add different options too. When i stop being lazy - imma just make my own "score files" for "known good" articulations for the ARP or Other Features. FL even has a "generator" thats very powerful...i just gotta sit down and commit to it. In theory, you can save all your Scaler chord progressions as midi / score files - and let FL's generator "flip" it for you.

    Wow.. this has to be the dopest vst I've ever seen for people trying to piece together music theory, they've laid out everything in one interface. Out of the many times you've explained the circle of fifths chart I believe I finally understand it now, thanks for keep going back to it. I think you should do more scaler videos not just "how to" but actually applying it to creating songs, it seems there are many techniques/variations of what this can do.

    I recently bought the Komplete Kontrol 25 (on sale right now, btw). Not for its chord features or "easy mode" but as a general master keyboard, its bundled software and for learning(seeing) scales. That light-guide already elevated my skills by 100% as i was only going by ear for years - Now i stumble over this piece of software and your video and .... just wow! This gonna help me writing so freaking much. Great stuff!

I've been making music for nearly 30 years and self taught for the most part but this has brought a new side to my music. Great reveal on something I've been wondering about getting since Christmas. (I just might!) I really liked how open you were about your thinking and what you showed. Thanks a ton.
    You seemed to be thrown by chords that showed up as iii6/4 in Don't Kill My Vibe. Here's the secret - the 6/4 is telling you how to spell the inversion of the chord, it has both a 6th and a 4th above the root note of the chord. So the iii6/4 (in the key of Ab Major) would be C minor with a G in the bass position. There's a little more to it than that, but that should help you wrap your head around it when you see it and get you where you wanna go. (Took me forever to figure out that it wasn't some crazy 6sus4 chord or something!)

    • @MGTheFuture
      @MGTheFuture  6 лет назад

      Wow. Thank you - What you put in Parenthesis is exactly what I was dealing with. Now I have to make sense of what THAT means...LOL (why they change Root notes and chord positioning). Luckily i can do that "intuitively" more so than logically with Piano Roll. STILL...would be a good day once i can translate it into "musician speak".

    • @werzeldamage4014
      @werzeldamage4014 6 лет назад +1

      Picture each note in a chord as a person singing one note. Now make it easy on them, don't make the next note they have to sing be very far away from the one they are singing...that's usually how to think about it. Each "voice" of a chord should only move 2 or 3 notes distance up or down at a time. Try a I - IV in C... C-E-G to F-A-C right? If you use the first inversion for the F chord ( C-F-A ), then the dude singing the C in the first chord keeps singing the same note and the other two make small moves ( E to F and G to A ). Make sense? The rules came from church singing before anything else and just got applied to other instruments cause they already made sense. Now if you bump into a choir director you can see what they do and get some insights there too.
      (Sorry for preachin, just tryin to spread the knowledge!)

    • @MGTheFuture
      @MGTheFuture  6 лет назад

      Werzel d'Amage no..thats super valuable and makes common sense. Thats exactly why i use piano roll to invert keys.
      My Captain Chords video shows that captain can do this by default. Thats crazy.

    As a Jazz Musician thinking about Popular Music... I Can Say this is a Awesome piece of Technology....Yet it will Distort the Bridge Between Real Music and Conceptual Music.... POP MUSIC IS ABOUT SIMPLICITY..... Chords are practically irrelevant to today's Pop Music appeal as pop music is about surprise over time and the ability to hold attention...Using less chords but being able to create continued excitement is the new wave.....*BRUNO MARS* See if you're Gonna Truly understand the scales and modes you have may have to get in-tuned with an instrument and the emotions it creates from a analog (not digital) perspective...when you play the actual guitar you can sense that you don't need much at times to create a vibe... in the digital world you have to tweak and this tweaking consumes time and stifles creativity....... and Also most importantly Understand MELODY AND PERFORMANCE... Machines can only do so much... the ability to create emotions over personality; a machine can't Do.
    so I feel this VST is gonna have us programming the music instead of creating the music.. as a music Producer beats just have to be felt... not knowing theory is often a blessing.. yet having theory helps to keep a guideline...From an artist and listener we don' t care abut the theory when we hear a track ... we mostly hear the passion and emotion behind it...
    Maybe I'm old fashion but I learned that SONGWRITING is EVERYTHING
    and the Producer brings the Song to Fruition

    • @MGTheFuture
      @MGTheFuture  6 лет назад +1

      Adding ezkeys changes all of this...check that vid out. It adds back in, what you suggest is missing. As it allows you to have a session player, virtually, to any chords you choose in scaler or else.
      For me, I understand what you mean...like cold or sterile performances. But I never use this on the surface, im always hacking it.
      For me, technology is there, as long as you combine the right parts.

    Got your chord book volume 1. Looking to expand my ez keys midi library by adding splice midi :0 hehe. I got captains but haven’t used in awhile... I’ve mostly been extracting melody or writing my own and captain is pretty limited with their chord selection. Just came off a good session creating and was like damn this shit should be illegal. Half time on some ez keys loops dropped to serato... still can’t believe this shit haha. Any new must haves ? I’ve been looking at stylenth or omni. Any good budget synths you’d recommend ?

    MG FROM DA FUTURRRRRRE! I just got the demo and have been looking at videos. I had instachord but I feel this is a better step forward. The only thing instachord has on this is the ability to individually play the notes from each chord. If Scaler had this as well you could do some stupidly good plucks, whole chords, delayed chords, basslines etc. all in one go

    So the 6 over 4 is an indication of inversion. I recommend reading Hook Theory as they explain it well there. Scaler doesn't seem to display inversions that way so you kinda have to know a bit about inversions. Great video!

    Hi can you play singular notes for a specific scale rather than the chords it suggests? Basically works like the autotonic plugin? A toggle for on/off chord mode? thanks

    Tell PluginBoutique you want your cut of the sales commission. I bought this after watching the video and it is absolutely worth it.

    Smh 🤦🏾‍♂️ 2018 is def gonna be my resurrection.. this is crazy.. part of the reason i took a break from beats was I couldn’t get out what I was hearing in my head becuz of technology issues.. bridges are essential and and this plugin makes it so easy.. this is a top 3 gem mg.. thank u so much..... I don’t think people are understanding the bridge capabilities with this.. I’m gonna kill this with using samples and implementing the Kanye sample hack u taught us with key changing.. might have to do another vid to wake cats up 😂

    MG - I bought this on a deal over Xmas but haven't used it yet. This is a great practical example. Thank you. Have you checked Plugin Boutique's Radio plugin? It's pretty cool too for sampling. Best wishes from Bristol. Time to save some Bill Evans chord sets!

      Honestly, I don't hear about a new plugin until people ask me about them - LOL! Thanks for checking me out! 🙏🙏🙏 And Bill Evans? Aye...gotta check him out

    Hi MG , i liked your video earlier but i skipped it .... because i guess it was too long , honestly speaking im into producing all sorts of music " EDM / Hiphop / Pop ...etc " and i have to say ... even being exposed to music production for 14 years and knowing the scales .. key .. harmonies ... diminished , sus .... your sort of dissected the chord names dilemma , and the cryptic I II IV VII i've always seen on sites and never understood and you attracted me more to scaler , thank you very much for sharing all of this information " a strong player exposes his cards for everybody to see " i hope i'm as strong and dedicated as you , stay positive and keep up the good work , Peace :)

    @33:24 I feel the same way about all these chord/scale tools. When I messed around with music production back in 2007 without any training I just had no clue and got hopeless when randomly messing with keys didn't work. Now all these resources are just spilling all over the place.
