    Thanks MG for this. This is very inspiring. You're really pushing these chords utilities, showing us the true potential of what they can do (and perhaps even more). I like the way that MIDI files can be imported and fed into EZ Keys. I often come up with ideas for chords and basslines but don't always end up turning them into full tracks.
    Please note everyone. You *do* really need to know (some) music theory to get the best out of these chord programs. If you do not know how to construct a chord (triads, 7ths, etc) or know what an inversion is or even The Circle of Fifths, do learn about them about first. This is because the computer might not always get things right and you need to know how to make edits to fix minor issues (as MG demonstrated at 17:25).
    But the main reason to know some music theory is having the ability to supply good input from yourself into the computer. There is an old computer saying: Garbage in, garbage out. Poor quality data (no musical knowledge) will result in poor music output from the chord program. EZ Keys can take a basic idea and flesh it out into something fuller but you have to give it something sensible to work on so it can do its thing (see 8:45). Remember: We must be the master and the computer the slave. We can like its ideas but ultimately we can accept, reject or change anything it comes up with because *we* are the boss. If you don't know music theory the computer will have one over you and *you* will become the slave.
    Music theory isn't _that_ difficult once you understand how the system works and how the keys are related and connected. RUclips is an excellent resource to learn it.

    The truth is you develop skills by using this kind of tools. Maybe not performing skills but music skills for sure. People who write for orchestra even can't play most of the instruments but still, know how to write for it. It's an old debate and i am with you:a composer write music,a performer perform music.

    I think people assume that producers like Dr. Dre comes up with the entire song himself. When in the Chronic 2001 a ton of the piano hooks came from Scott Storch; so in essence, Storch was the pianist. Dre is the person who organized the songs to its entirety. Producers look at he whole picture and if he/she has to bring professional outside sources to provide that last piece of the puzzle than so be it. The thing that matters in the end is the song and it’s affect on people. Thanks for the great video MG!! 👍

    • @firstnamelastname364
      @firstnamelastname364 4 года назад

      I mean sorta. Scott's only credited as a writer for two tracks on 2001, so it's debatable whether he came up with those hooks or just played stuff out as a session musician.
      But Mark Batson was used a lot for piano in Dre's later stuff and Mike Elizondo is credited as both bassist and writer on a lot of tracks too, so your overall point is defo correct.

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 4 года назад

      Well he did produce the entire record as Dr. Dre is a *Record Producer* like Quincy Jones. Beat Makers were oringally reffered to as *Programmers* that works with midi sequencing and programmed instruments that sequence backing tracks. Scott Storch was not a Record Producer at the time working under DRE as he was Dres session Musican. Scott Storch acutally learned how to produce records while working under DRE as his mentor similar to how Teddy Reily taught Pharrell and Timbo the ropes of producing a Song from start to finish. I was also trainned and mentored by an Industry that taught me the ropes of vocal arrangment as he's one of the oringal members of this male R&B group called *Dark Blu* that was discovered and put togther by *Gerald Levert* back in the early 2000s. They worked with Sean Diddy Combs, Mario Winans as well. A Producer main job is to direct and oversee the creative process of a song to its final mix stage but they can be more hands on the Songwriting and Arranging process. Some Producer's are more hands off like Sean Diddy Combs and Rick Rubin that focuses more on the song vocal arrangment and the mix as the director.

    • @firstnamelastname364
      @firstnamelastname364 4 года назад

      Eman 08 Interesting. I’ve personally never heard of Dark Blu, but I know Gerald Levert from Levert, Sweat & Gill. Pretty cool that you had a mentor in the industry like that through the Dark Blu member.
      Hope is all good with your career currently & hopefully your music career will prosper in future

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 4 года назад +1

      @@firstnamelastname364 Yeah they were a Male R&B group from the early 2000s era like B2K, Dru Hill. They were on the same Soul Train season as B2K, Jon B., K-Ci & Jo Jo, Chante Moore etc season 30 back in 2001. It's been so long ago as they were under Capital Records back then managed by Hiriam Hicks under the Double H Label what was known as Hi-Rise Entertainment. I'm currently in the works of working on brand new album with the group as they all have went their separate ways as solo Artist's so the band is back togther as a reunion. Just continuing on Gerald Levert legacy basically.

    Thanks for the information.... good detailed tutorial just like you always provide.... I did a 2 bar track experiment in my home studio.. my wife come running to the studio saying how nice the music sounds.... it was the fantastic keyboard playing style from Ezkeys that make a noticable difference... Do you have a affiliate like to these plugins that you recommend... I ask because I purchase a lot of plugins via your recommendation..... I have never been disappointed or ever had buyer remorse.
    I leave comment or chat messages with the company's that I purchase from telling them about your assistance in my purchase..
    I understand that it's your workflow that you teach and there is no guarantee that the same would work for me.... it's just your opinion concerning what you like in a plugin.. I have jumped miles ahead of some of the producers in my community some have been producing in the box for awhile..

    I love Instachord and that EZ chord chooser pie thing.
    What I wish I could find is a fairly comprehensive rhythm chooser pie thing that lets me go 2-4 beats at a time. Triplets, sixteenths, etc, with a large variety of syncopations and customizable rhythms.
    Th closest thing I've found is Liquid Rhythm, but that seems to have died off.
    Any thoughts?

    2nd. I would like to hear about the thing you was exited about on the Scaler type of workflow, in one of your last videos you've mentioned that you will talk about it some day, really want to learn more of your techniques in it. Last thing, i really really looking into some plugins or techniques to create types of drumming , like you did with the EZkeys on chords, i would like the same on drums. Looking for such a thing for a long time.. I'm not the best drummer and i would really like to improve my music. Thanks in advance!!

    MG I get it and totally understand your logic, but heck I’m trying to learn how to do those inversions and styles by hand. I’m a producer and there are times when I really want to add flavor to my music the way I hear it in my mind. The lessons are annoying as heck, but I swear that my production is really getting better from it. Ez keys would only give me the preprogrammed style that was programmed into it to mimic. Yes, anything worth learning takes time, but it’s so worth it. You make time for what is important to you. You can make beats and learn at the same time it is possible. And yes I could see you playing even better than that robot, because you have had experience in various styles of music.

    @MG The Future .. thank you for this video! So, I just purchased EZ Keys after a friend of mine added a piano line to a new song of mine via EZ Keys. I bought the Grand Piano .. so what I'm not clear about is the add-on packs? Given all that you can create in EZ Keys (and I'm a composer/producer - hobbyist!), do you NEED expansion packs? Thanks man .. and really appreciate you doing this.

    Yo MG you so lit wit this shit fam!!! Could you do an ez key tutorial for fl studio? I already copped the scaler and watched all your vids but now I'm thinking of adding both to the arsenal

      Greetings, I don’t use it with fl studio. But much of it is the same

      @@MGTheFuture I don't see why not? Scaler doesn't seem to offer the same variations to what you play that i know of? The ez variations are ridiculous...finding chord progressions is one thing but those variations to the melody are 🔥🔥🔥...if im mistaken, and scaler can do it can you point me to a video fl based that you might have already done that I might have missed? 🙏🙏💯💯💯thanks for your response fam

      Yeah, if you goto the uploads portion of my page...you’ll see a few ezkeys and scaler vids. I use those and a few more regularly. I just don’t use them with fl studio that’s all. I don’t even have fl installed on this system yet.
