    I watched this video a few months ago before starting my Etsy shop and knew back then that I would need to bookmark it. I just got my first Etsy order (!), and sure enough, it was a custom order. Pulled this video up, and you saved me from completely freaking out. My family probably thanks you more lol. I followed along to make sure I didn't make any mistakes. • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  Год назад +1

      Sorry if the video didn't explain it well enough, so your customers order would show up in the "other orders" tab with no design attached to it at all. You would then add the design you customer order onto a shirt in Printify and then save it as a draft. Then you go back to other orders and select that new design you saved and hit fulfill order! Hope that clears it up and best of luck!

    Great, thank you for this video. If I understand right, with this method you can continue to have all the other orders fulfilled automatically because you manually import the custom order via "other orders".
    This takes away the horror of having to manually push all the orders to fulfill. (When they hopefully come)

      If you watch the video carefully, she shows how to set up the listing in Etsy FIRST as there is a personalisation field feature in Etsy. Once the customer places the order then, and only then, do we go to Printify and create the personalised item. It's a bit of a commitment to do this as soon as you get an order but quite straightforward. Good luck!

    Cassie, Thanks so much for the video! I have my Etsy and printify integration set for all orders to go to production at 5 pm daily. I have a full time job and am just starting on Etsy. When a personalized order is placed by a costumer, will it automatically go to production at 5 pm or do personalized orders go to “Other Orders” which would allow me time to get home from work and create the personalized product? Thanks!

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  Год назад

      The personalized order will go to "other orders" and you can fulfill this when it works for you! As long as it does not have SKU numbers in the listing like I showed in this one!
      The only time that won't be true is if they also buy another product from you that is not personalized. Then Printify will not recognize the personalized item and will just send the regular items to production and no order will show up in "other orders"
      I would recommend setting yours to maybe 6-7pm instead so you can always just quickly check these things before they go into production

    I am confused where you create a listing on Etsy first with the personalizable design, then how it’s linked to Printify and show up on Other orders tab when customers order it? And you would have to manually change the design every time right?

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  2 года назад

      Yes if it's a custom design, like someones last name, then you would start in Etsy. Then the order will show up in your "other orders" tab since this is any order not fulfilled thru Printify that is made on your store. You would then make the custom design and save it to Printify as a shirt but instead of publishing to your store, you would save as a draft. Then go into the other order and select that custom design.
      This definitely is a time consuming thing to do but personalized orders do sell well on etsy, so you have to decide if this is something you are willing to spend the time on or not

    Cassiy, is there a way to make a group listing with two shirt colors (or even just one), where they have about 20 options for phrases to choose from in variations, but also have the option to customize (choose) their own phrase instead of picking what is offered? How is this done? This is how I see group listing variations listed when I am doing my market research. Thanks!

    I have a few questions:
    1) for our first listing post on etsy do we make a fake listing and then delete it?
    2) is it important to have our first listing on etsy optimized as much as possible as in the best design,, pictures, size chart. SInce etsy's algorithm is at its best for the first listing
    3) after we make our first listing how long after should we make our 2nd,3rd,4th listing at what pace?

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  Год назад

      1. Yes create a dummy listing and then delete it
      2. It is important to have your listing optimized to help it's conversions, but even if your first listing sucks, it won't affect your next listing. They are ranked independently.
      3. I would make new listings as often as you can in the beginning until you get comfortable and start learning how to design better, do better seo, find better niches etc.
      Hope that helps and good luck!!

    Hey Cassiy! Thank you so much for taking the time to teach us newbies how to do all things Etsy! You have made it so easy to understand. Your step by step processes are the best! I do have a question. My sister in-law and I just started our Etsy at the beginning of January and we have done ok so far. We decided we would like to introduce custom tees. We followed your video and everything is perfect, except one thing. When I view the listing on our Etsy, it shows that we only have 1 item left. We do POD mainly using Printify. With all that being said. How can we change that, so that it isn't showing only 1 item left? We are afraid it will deter a potential customer if they aren't able to buy more the one custom shirt. Thank you so much for your time. I look forward to your advice!

      Go to your Etsy listing, scroll down to "Variations" and you will see the quantity column. Set all of your quantities to 999.

    • @looking4peace1
      @looking4peace1 Год назад +1

      Actually under "Manage Variations" there is an option where you can uncheck "Quantities Vary". It removes the 999 column. Hmm, I'm not sure which would be best.

    Love your videos!! I’ve started to try making shirts but it’s hard to gauge how big/small the design will look without actually printing out a physical t-shirt as a sample. How do you gauge what size to make your designs? Also, printful/printify offer lots of tshirt color options but it’s hard to tell on the computer what it will look like in person. How do you deal with this? Thank you!!

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  2 года назад +16

      Hi Whitney! I would recommend looking at a graphic shirt you have at home to gauge how big you may want the design, look at where the design is compared to the neckline. I usually like mine to come past the neckline on both sides a little bit and then all the way to the top of the design box. As for colors, look up mock-ups for these shirt colors on Etsy, lots of people have purchased them and taken pictures, this will be a great example of what the color will look like!
      I'd recommend sticking mainly with the basic colors, I do mostly White, Black and Athletic Heather. I also sell Dark heather gray, Heather Peach, Maroon and Navy occasionally as well. But Black and White are going to typically be the best sellers overall for any t-shirt.

    Thanks so much Cassiy!! I love ❤ the way you teach and break things down so well! Yet, For some reason I am still struggling. 😅 I think a written step-by-step might work with my slow brain on this one. Could you elaborate below and change where I’m incorrect if it is not too much trouble? I would so appreciate it! I’m needing to customize an item AND create a template. Is this the procedure?
    1) Set Printify order to MANUAL?
    2) Create listing in Printify so it can populate in Etsy: choose “hide in Etsy” and then publish.
    3) Go to Etsy and finalize mock-ups, tags, titles. (I notice we don’t need to fill in weight or dimensions on PODs?) and publish your listing.
    4) Order comes in. Make custom changes in Canva. Save as new custom PNG/transparent photo.
    5) Place it on a new mockup to show customer (optional) and message them.
    6) Go to Printify and upload new design to my library??
    7) Find draft template and locate new design to bring onto product??
    8) Please finish this part for me.
    THANK YOU!

      Happy to help, you are definitely making it a little more complicated and I actually just recorded a new version of this video because you aren't the only one confused. I will be releasing that in two weeks I think but here is a written out version to make it simple
      1. Create the listing starting on ETSY
      2. Fill everything out and add your mockups that you created
      3. When you can an order, create the personalized design for them
      4. Go to Printify Orders, but to the "other orders" tab and find that order
      5. Click select product, go to the "catalog" at the top of that selection box, select the shirt type, printing company and color you need for that order
      6. Add the custom design you made
      7. Click import order but DO NOT click "automatically submit similar orders in the future" because this design file will change every time.
      Hope this helps and makes sense! You don't need to upload anything to Printify to start with because you don't know what the design file will be yet. Best of luck!

      Sorry to hear that! Here is a quick breakdown
      1, Make a custom listing starting on Etsy
      2. When you get an order, go to Etsy and add the custom design they ordered to a t-shirt and save as a draft instead of publishing
      3. go to your other orders tab
      4. find that order and select the custom design you just uploaded
      5. Click fulfill!

  • @southernbellcooks5175

    This is great information! Thanks for explaining it. From what I have gathered, you don't have to connect your Etsy shop to Printify. You can just take the order from Etsy, and then place your Printify order. That sounds easier than connecting the two shops. My concern is this, I ordered a couple of t-shirts from Printify on 3/9/23 and they still haven't arrived (today is 3/22). Is that typical? Again, thanks so much!
