- Reductant heater replacement. There are other helpful videos such as • P20B9 Duramax - Full R... and I feel that if you watch both videos you get a really good idea of what's involved in this repair/replacement.
I have a 2016 that they’re doing this to right now I only have 32k miles on it he called me and said that gum was going to cover it and once they got the parts in and installed they’ll check to make sure there’s nothing else wrong, he sounded like he was going to try to find something wrong dealership only has one diesel mechanic so he said middle of next week it should be fixed online it says there’s no recall on my 2500HD 6.6 Duramax LTZ z71 but somebody in these comments on this video said gm was covering exhaust issues for 10 years or 130k miles? So I’m super confused I told guy at dealership to not try and think they were gunna give me a thousand dollar bill because I would just spend a little extra not do the repairs and have it deleted and his attitude changed completely I think he works on commission so he was like don’t worry about it we’ll get it taken care of and have you on your way, he wants to keep me because I bought that truck in 2016 brand new and my wife’s impala LTZ from them and if I have a bad service experience with them the suburban I’m getting ready to buy will NOT be from them. Question stands though is GM covering exhaust repairs for 10 years or 130k miles? If so why if it’s not showing any recalls on the truck.
2013 to 2015 they did 10 years or 130k miles. I am not sure on the 2016.
Do you know part number or link for the correct heater and pump I have same model mines a 2015 6.6 lml z71
This is the heater I used. I haven't had to replace the pump yet. Dorman 904-394 Diesel Exhaust... www.amazon.com/dp/B08CRTZXLH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
GM has extended warranty repairs on DEF tank and heartens. 10 years 120k miles. Picked mine up yesterday from Riverside Chevrolet-Kimball TN. I paid 0.00. Parts and labor. Got it back in one day.
Mine was out of warranty. It had 130k on it when I bought it so I had to do it myself or pay the dealer over $1k to do it. Was much cheaper doing it myself.
What is the part number
This what I used on my 2015. Dorman 904-394 Diesel Exhaust... www.amazon.com/dp/B08CRTZXLH?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I had to install a new one in July 2022 as well.
Had one already replaced under warranty. 2nd one has failed again giving a P21DD….. not replacing the piece of shit again. Terrible design.
What type of code reader did you use?
I just went to Advance Auto and had them pull the codes. You could use a ODBII bluetooth reader as well.

About how much did you spend on parts and tools? and about how long did the whole process take you?
The pump was $190 and the clamp was $30. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GSLZ61W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It took me about 4 hours but some of that was also trying to make this video as I worked and also watching other videos while I did the job.
Did you experience any other issues other than the trouble codes? The issue i'm having on mine is that it's basically in limp mode and says it reduced speed to 65mph and I also have the DEF light on.. on top of the trouble codes. Performed a DPF regeneration hoping that was my problem but had no luck. Hoping this will solve my problem being that I got the same codes. Guess I can double check by checking the resistance from the connector.
Mine kept saying the def fluid was low and I was getting very close on the countdown mileage to limp mode.
Did you have to perform any type of reset afterwards?
I drove it a few miles and everything reset itself.
Good content.. but made me sick watching..
My first video and I didn't realize how the screen was rotating. This one failed so I get to do it all again here soon.
did it end up working. just did nine and it didnt go away
Mine still works to this day. The code could take up to a day to go away.
@@brown1william I'm on my second.day now. the check engine light went away but not the def light.
@@lorenzobatopis just making sure but did you refill the def after doing the repair?
@@brown1william sure did hasn't gone away
@@lorenzobatopis At this point I'm not sure. Could be a bad connection? Maybe the new part is bad?
Can I drive like that for a few days?
You can drive with those codes on but it will eventually start counting down miles until the truck goes in to limp mode.
@@brown1william thank you very much
