🔷 ABOUT US 🔷
We're a DIY family building our "forever homestead" from 15 acres of raw undeveloped land in Tennessee. All of our content is family friendly and safe for everyone to enjoy.
In today's video we begin building our new 12 x 10 free standing deck on the back of our 1988 Palm Harbor Single Wide Mobile Home. The first step is to layout our string lines and dig footers for our foundation. We are using 12" concrete tube forms (sometimes called sono tubes) for our footers and j-bolts for our post anchors. Let's go!

Love how the whole family is involved and you are so patient and teaching your boys in the process. They are so cute! Really enjoy and look foreword to your videos.
Agree 💯
I was so pleased to see that when your son made the suggestion to use the box cutter, not only did you acknowledge that was a good idea you praised him for it.. Letting them help is so fun to see because they want to feel helpful as well. Your teaching them things and making memories that will last their whole life! How refreshing to see the boys outside using their imaginations and helping mom and dad, instead of being inside playing video games as most kids are these days!
I'm a single mom of 2 boys myself and watching your family is Awesome!! Keep up the good work folks 😄😉
You are a lucky man. I would never get away with saying that was Mommy's job! LOL
Can’t wait. I just forwarded to my son and daughter-in-law (they just bought them an acre) now they want to build a deck. I was a single parent and my son had no help from me using a hammer or anything. He is 34 and his girl is too. I love them and proud. They are fans of you guys too.
Keep schooling us all and thank you :) God bless
Boxman stole the show. I loved when he showed us how he can use his sword lol.
Angela i can just picture all the colorful flowers dressing up your deck. Bet you cant wait either.
It's nice seeing the progress in steps! I love how you let the boys help and how you are teaching them at the same time. And let's hear it for "box man"!!!!!
Thanks so much!
Your boys are such quick studies, they'll be building their own homesteads one day, thanks to Mom and Dad!!
Good to see the boys working with you and having play breaks, your feral children are just delightful. Once again i have to say your bloopers make me laugh every time, you both have a great sense of humour, I love it.
Thanks 👍
What a great no man! What a big help big brother is. Love how you let the boys help. Reminds me of my dad when he built my grandmas house and poured the huge driveway. He took the time to show and tell me how to do the cement.
Your youngest is so creative!
The boys were such great helpers
I love the box man costume he made. Your kids have a great imagination.
I hope people in other countries watch your videos cuz they will see what regular normal Americans are really like. Not the fake people and bad behavior that is on tv and tic tok. I’m proud to show off your family to the world. God bless.
I like the close up videography and the lack of background music. Being able to see your work clearly and being able to hear natural concrete work sounds adds realism to your video. It makes me feel like I'm right there with you.
It's so good to see kids being kids playing outside and being so creative with the boxes and stacking the rocks. Bravo! 💝🙏🏼
I became super emotional, when you were showing your son how to trowel the top of the post. You are so genuinely good with your children. I know in my heart it's not an act for the camera. I wish my children had a father like you. It is a joy to watch you and your family. Angela, you are wonderful, too!
Y’all’s bloopers are hysterical !
Elijah is such a good helper 💕
And Dad is super patient to teach him the skills that will take him through life ✅
“Box Man “ is adorable 🥰. The imagination of a little boy - awww ! The porch is gonna be so nice . Soon - you’ll be inspected, moved in and celebrating all your achievements ❤️😘
The entire videos are great but the bloopers are priceless!! It shows real life challenges :)
I just love 'Box Man' reminds me of Legos when he made the cut out for the sword.
It's good to see you teach your children about work!!
Sam and Angela. I wanted to say thank you for showing those little things you can put your wires in. My brother watched your video and bought some and he said it made it so easy.
That is awesome!
Love the bloopers ! Love how you all work together as a team . Sam you are very patient with the boys.
Your wife is such a great worker, you both work together well.
Your kids are so adorable they play and help you guys they are not playing video game. 👍🏻❤️
I really love the way y’all let your children take part
I had to watch again, there is always something I miss seeing the first time. Just love your videos. I love seeing the boys being outside boys. Reminds me of when my siblings and I played outside. We had so much fun. That is what kids are missing today. They don’t know how to play outside.
Please take care and be safe
Great job dad. Not only did you explain how to do it, let your son try it, you do it with him, give him an explanation about the concrete, you used a nice voice and were patient through the process. A➕️ job in parenting!
Near the beginning when Sam was talking, I was watching Isaac through the window make his way out of the front door wearing his boxes. I'm telling you, he melts my heart!! Then the smart one in the family comes up with the knife to cut open the concrete bags and said "I thought we could use this". I love when the boys get involved with the projects. They are learning a lot besides making memories that they can some day tell their children about and pass on to them while having them help with projects. Looking forward to the next video. Great job you guys (especially Angela with her OSHA approved shoes!!).
Love how your boys are boys….using their creative minds playing…….box boy ❤️
Angela, "I don't want to see that!" I totally laughed out loud! Great job, loved seeing the feral children helping out and learning a thing or two!
Was so happy to see you teaching both boys how to do the cement work! So often I have seen parents teaching the oldest, neglecting the younger. Great job parents!!!
That's something I've been trying (and need to keep trying) to notice and fix... so often Elijah is eager to help and work while Isaac would rather play. He misses out on things that way, so I'm trying to encourage him to help me too -- not force, but encourage as "us time". :)
Box man to the rescue! The surface tension explanation was perfect, he will never forget it as he physically dealt with it.
I see family stepping stones in the near future. One for each of you to decorate the yard/garden with.
Box man was using his imagination. Well done.
Watching your children makes me miss when my children were that age the imagination and pure joy.
When my dad poured concrete, he always had us kids run the hose over it every so often to keep it cool and damp. 👍🙂
I think my deck is 10' or 12' by 15' and I LOVE how spacious it is!
Teaching your children how to do things is a huge gift. So great to watch.
Love that your boys are so eager to learn I think a lot of families today don't teach things like this to their kids they just pay someone else to do it while the kids play on their phones
Date and initials in wet cement Sam!😉
Remember to have everyone make hand prints and date and initials in the stair footing. The boys will always remember that.😁
Box boy is stealing the show. Lol
Love your videos and enjoy watching them every time they come on. May the Lord bless you and your family. It's going to be great to see you and your family in your home
Thank you so much!
You all know how to do everything! I love watching you all. I have learned a lot from you all. The boys are learning so much as you all do the work-no matter what it is. The boys are hilarious too! They have great imaginations! Good job everyone!
Oh Snap!!!!
Box Guy got a sword!!! Let’s gooo!!!! Best part of the video!
And yes. Great video. Thanks for posting I know what I want to do now 🙏🏼
Love your young son’s imagination! Also love the older son’s helpful advice! Raising great children there!
Wow, your boys are smart. Box guy made a weapon holder and box cutter guy opened the bags of cement. You all work well together!
Oh the shot across the dirt at the holes !! looks like the game with the gophers.. and trying to bop them on the head as they peek up. hahahahaa. Well it let's you know the holes are lined up nicely., So excited about the deck.. it is going to be so nice to be able to sit out back without going all the way outside. Coffee in the early morning.. aaaah.. Happy for you guys! Great job!!
Omg, I was drinking coffee and almost spit it out when you said “show sharting it” in the bloopers! 🤣😂
Teaching the boys early....love It!! You guys are ALL adorable. Keep 'em coming!!
Looking so good, all of it. You have endured a very hot summer I do not envy you guys. We have had temps above 100 and I just can't imagine doing that physical labor out in it. Your boys are going to grow up fine young men and knowing the value of respect and hard work and love for others.
It’s great seeing the children playing with boxes and not expensive toys. You all worked well as a team.👍
Love ❤️ you guys!!!! I wish I was still young!!!
I am in my 60's and building an urban farm to help my community here in South Africa. Boy do I miss my dad watching you guys. He was not just dad, but my role model and so wise and helpful. God just introduces a 22 year young man to me and my hope is to impart some of those values to him. Love ya all.🤗🤗
Love watching your boys. Oh, you’re doing great, too!
You guys are the best, teaching the boys along the way ,alot of parents would say they are too young,or just not want to bother 😉
Need to have the boys put in a time capsule inside the cement some where when they are older they can dig it out for the next generation to add to. A piece of pvc pipe with plugs on both ends work well. Did it for my kids
It's looking super. It's also nice to see the boys having a go at trying things and learning to help out.
Hello Sam and Angela and kids. Great video. Love watching yall videos. We call them concrete tubes. That there name. Yall doing great work.
I've become so obsessed with this channel every since I stumbled across it a few months ago. This is my 1st time catching a live from them and I can't wait. Snacks and drink (diet Pepsi) on deck 😅
Aww thank you!!
PS I love how you have fun while you work… I am grateful I was raised that way too!
I giggled at Sam"Vanna" pointing to the items and demonstrating mixing air in the wheel barrel. You guys are so much fun. Can't wait to see the next project.
Your boys are blessed to have parents that teach them very important life skills. Your family impresses me all the time. ❤
Love the channel and the involvement of the family I know your children will remember this for a long time.
Love your bloopers!
Everthing is looking great, y'alls boys are as cute as can be, my grandsons are like your boys, give them a empty boxs they have hours of fun, God bless you guys and your boys..
Your kiddos are going to need their own home improvement video soon! He did a great job on the footers!
I’m enjoying being able to see every thing you guys do to get back in the house. Thanks for always sharing. Nice to see the boys. Box man and his sword holder, that was cool. Your boys know more about diy than I do and I’m old lol
DUDE I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOO OUTSTANDINGLY VERY PROUD OF YOU FOR TEACHING YOUR KIDS THINGS THAT OTHER PARENTS WOULD NOT EVEN TEACH THEIR KIDS MUCH OF ANYTHING...
I KNOW A FEW PARENTS THAT DONT TEACH THEIR KINDS NOTHING THEIR TOO BUSY TRYING TO MAKE THAT GOD ALMIGHTY DOLLAR.. AN THEIR KIDS TURNED OUT TO BE HOODLAMS AN RUN THE STREET...
GODS BLESSING YOU EVERY TIME YOU MAKE THE TIME TO TEACH THEM SOMETHING...
I HAVE LOADS OF TEARS WHEN EVER I SEE A PARENT TRING TO MAKE SOMETHING OF THEIR KIDS INSTEAD OF LETTIN UM RUN WILD LIKE AN ANIMAL...
BLESSINGS & BE HOPE FILLED
FRANKI
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I love how you are teaching the boys while establishing your homestead. What life lessons they are learning. Heck your teaching us all. I love watching seeing your homestead come together. Can’t wait to see it finished.
Footers are so much work, but you all did it!!!
Sam have you ever seen the skid steer auger for footers.
It is adjustable for diameter, has depth gauge lines then bells out at the bottom
for a footer that will not heave. Watched R&R Builders use one a couple years ago.
Glad you are building a large deck. You will love it. Can’t believe how big the boys are getting, so fast! I love seeing their creative play and helping with projects, etc.
👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ hey....there was some shots before the mower ate your somebrero........love those birds a singing❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍
Your boys are adorable!! Love watching you make progress on your home/homestead.
nothing no better than kids playing outside!! Great Parenting Job Mr Sam & Ms Angela!!
I really love how you are teaching your sons how to do things. You are their best teacher and they are just the right ages to soak in all that you have to teach them. Great job with being awesome parents.
It amazes me what you two and your ferals are able to accomplish. You are both skilled, knowledgeable, and incredibly hard working. The kids want to learn and actually pay attention and follow through. Angela, you do such a good job mixing the cement and make it look easy. You have made a great start on your back deck. Congratulations and wishing you further success. Bless you all.
You two are awesome parents, including the boys... Love your videos...❤❤❤
Boys are doing great hands on work. Loved box man with sword. Big deck on back you will enjoy it. Loved the video as usual. Your content is really good.
Great STUFF again!!! One thing I am concerned about and I dont blame Angela. The cement is not wanting for water! No slump. CHEERS from HERE
This experience for your boys is something that can never be taken away. The quality time spent together the learning, this is truly what raising a family is all about. Bless you for being the kind of humans everyone should be ❤️❤️👍👍. Thank you for sharing the Growing experience your family is enduring and your boys have definitely grown in every way since moving to Tennessee 😊😊👍👍❤️❤️
That cement footing is level ha ha
Love those precious boys! Love your teaching!
So fun watching your progress! Love those boys 🥰🥰🥰
Sam ,I'm thinking I'd of used the tractor bucket to mix up and move that concrete instead of that wheelbarrow
We don't have a tractor bucket, but that would work too
Your place is coming along nicely. It's so good to see you including the boys with your footing pour of concrete. By including them it becomes their house to. With explanations they are really good helpers. Thanks for sharing! Hopefully your weight together and won't be too terribly much longer.
forgot to say I love how you’re teaching your kids.
I love it. Some of the absolutely best videos on RUclips.
Kansas here. Really enjoy your family.
Great job with all the family 👍🏼❤️🇨🇦😉
I had to laugh at the contractor joke. My dad used to say every job needs a foreman.
Love the construction home schooling nothing like real world science in action!
At the rate you're going it won't be long before you can be in your beautiful place so so happy for you ❤️
I love seeing parents teach their children. Thanks for sharing.
Good Morning Sam Angela & Boys, got here as fast as I could.I am just amazed at all you have gotten done.Love your channel & have learned a lot.Take care & have a great week.🌷💕🌷
Always love the bloopers! 😄👍💕💕💕
So awesome watching the kids learning how to do helping things with you guys in the homestead build and remodeling , 😊👍💕💕💕
You folks crack me up, love your channel, the boys are awesome 👏👏👏
Great job! Love how fast Elijah learn3d. He had a great teacher too. Loved how everyone works together
Can't believe he's tamping the concrete with your level!
He’s doing exactly as I told him and showed him to do. It’s a level from Walmart and is not being harmed or messed up. They’re a tool and made for drops and uses. A quick rinse with the hose and it’s better than before.
I also enjoy watching your videos and teaching your boys. My dad was a carpenter and when I was 5 years old he started teaching me his trade. One of the first things he drummed in my head was have respect for the tools you use. Each one has a purpose, remember that! I am 77 years old now and his words stuck with me all that time. The point, a level has a purpose and it’s not to remove air bubbles from concrete. I hope you corrected your son off video.
