(For hawks) I know of people that have strung fishing line across their yard from tree to tree, porch to barn or whatever. It kind of makes it difficult for them to just swoop in. Think erratic above air grid. Also if you use the coop tarp in the summer you could stake or post the tarp edge like an awning for more air flow. In the winter you could use it to block prevailing wind to help keep them warm. Thanks for the vids btw, I like your editing.

    Awesome coop.
If you're gonna go to the trouble of using wood glue, you might as well use the waterproof Titebond III.
For many years now I've been using Titebond III to paint (with brush or roller) on all surfaces of my outdoor wood projects before I apply paint. It acts like the ultimate primer -- hard and waterproof, and makes the wood last much much longer.

🐔 (0:59)- Annals comes from the Latin word annus, meaning year. As the word itself suggests, many annals are yearly records, but this is not always the case. You may encounter the word annals in the phrase “annals of history,” which refers not to one specific historical record but the collection of all recorded history.🐓🤓

🐔 (19:24)- Why is bird poop white?
Actually, bird poop, per se, is not white. Birds, unlike mammals, do not have separate exits for urine and feces. Both waste products are eliminated simultaneously through the cloaca. While mammals excrete nitrogenous wastes mostly in the form of urea, birds convert it to uric acid or guanine, which reduces water loss in comparison. Uric acid thus forms a white sticky paste. So the white part is actually bird pee; it is the dark center that is the poop.🦅🤓

A trick I learned when caring sheets of plywood is stand it tall put your back to it, and then put your hands on the edges while squatting just a little bit hold onto it and lean forward, carry it like a backpack. Switch to Koop Klean for bedding!!! The bark causes bumble foot and the Koop Klean is soft chopped up hay, I use the deep litter method in winter and it works beautifully. Definitely can’t use the deep litter method in summer in Florida but I still use the KKlean and it is soft and absorbent so each evening I done a pretty blue throw away glove and clean any dirty litter out of the coop and add another layer of KK. It costs $27.00 a bale that is compressed, so you get a lot of it in a bale. No more bumble foot for my ducks and chickens. I do use foot covers on my girls if the seem to be limping and it had been a tremendous advantage. Amazon had them. I bought a pair made patterns and make them for my girls. I could have patterned them but keeping a chicken or duck still long enough without getting pooo all over was not worth it 😂😂

Hello. I love your videos! A pro tip for installing the roof panels: stack your panels after cutting them to length and pre-drill your holes (through the stack) for your screws(for purlins) this makes install much easier and your screws line up perfectly. You also avoid the little burrs that can mess with your rubber washers. Hope this helps someone!

Just had a thought: you could leave the main coop/run in place and put some of the very lightweight flexible HVAC ducting in between the main coop and a movable yard run for the chickens to move through or to a screened garden. White might be a bit translucent but it could be available in clear.
Like both your craftsmanship and your humor.

In the Army the tents for hot environments have a top over the top. The top canvas absorbs the heat, preventing the solar heat from hitting the tent roof canvas. Could do that with tin too. With my chickens I put space under the coop for them to go when it's hot out, with a sheltered box fan to keep them cool.
The only problem with steps, rather than a ramp, is chicks can't make it up there.

Also all holes drilled expose end grain which is basically a sponge…that’s a beautiful chicken coop so go back and caulk over those screw heads with a light film of caulk. It won’t keep you from being able to remove screws at a later date but it will keep your coop alive for many many more years than if you don’t.

Funny thing... I got a KFC ad on this video. Not the kind of chicken I want to have.

Just found your channel and oh my goodness I want one!!! My husband just retired from the army after 20+ yrs and we moved out to the country. I started looking at prices for coops 🤦🏼‍♀️! Shut the front door! Living just a little NW of Fort Hood, (yes I know it’s now Fort Cavazos) I need this coop!! Being an extreme city girl and raising my 3 children (35,27,12) in the city. I am so honored to learn a different way of life and being able to expose my youngest child to it. We have 10 white tail Doe’s and 4 Bucks that come in our yard daily. Once at 6:45 am and then again at 8:10 pm. I go out in the yard with them (about a foot away) and throw some apple corn for them. Goodness knows if I’m not paying attention they let me know!! 🤣 We just started growing herbs and jalapeños. I can’t wait to venture beyond.

Man Haxman, I'm loving your videos. I didn't realize hawks and BoogerMan was a problem there. We have em here in southern Colorado. Maybe cousins. Thanks for the outdoor cooker area video, loved that project, gonna have to do one!

I'm sure the cost of the resources used in this build (tools, shop space, benches) Call smore then fifty times the cost of the materials to make the coup. But it certainly made everything you did in and outside of this video and much more easily doable.
    AWESOME SETUP

Damn... I always scroll down and take a quick glance at the comments when starting a new video. Kinda rolled my eyes at all the comments about the humor but you got me almost right away with that voldemort.
