You belong on network television! Between the information and education, the script, editing and your sense of humor, it's a winner! Love watching you build useful things and getting approval from the hawks!
(For hawks) I know of people that have strung fishing line across their yard from tree to tree, porch to barn or whatever. It kind of makes it difficult for them to just swoop in. Think erratic above air grid. Also if you use the coop tarp in the summer you could stake or post the tarp edge like an awning for more air flow. In the winter you could use it to block prevailing wind to help keep them warm. Thanks for the vids btw, I like your editing.
Let's be honest Adam. The Blue roof is to protect your family and the chickens from the space lasers. It's not just a Chicken Coop. It's a bug out shelter from the lasers.
I just happened upon your video and boy. I’m glad I did. You’ve got quite the sense of humor you, your wife and your daughter. I thoroughly enjoyed watching you build the chicken coop, and I enjoyed all of your little interactions with the hawks.
Awesome coop. If you're gonna go to the trouble of using wood glue, you might as well use the waterproof Titebond III. For many years now I've been using Titebond III to paint (with brush or roller) on all surfaces of my outdoor wood projects before I apply paint. It acts like the ultimate primer -- hard and waterproof, and makes the wood last much much longer.
Thank you! I have all these tools I don’t know how to use since the kids dad passed last year. The way you go about explaining when, how and especially WHY is such a relief! Most of the instructional creators on RUclips just assume I would know enough to keep up with their narration. Well, it’s very discouraging to get completely lost half way through an instructional because you don’t understand a basic task ☹️ I was not lost even once during your tutorial. And you make me laugh! I actually feel good 😊 Thank you Thank you Thank you!
I always thought it would be cool if someone could come up with a roomba type device with programming that would monitor the chickens as the graze and move the tractor over when they're ready. Completely over engineered for a tractor coop, but the idea makes me smile!
I'm glad to see that you've built a better stronghold for your feathered friends. It seems to be well fortified against land predators, air predators and space lasers. Well done!
🐔 ingenuity- [ in-juh-noo-i-tee, -nyoo < ] - the quality of being cleverly inventive or resourceful; inventiveness:a designer of great ingenuity. - cleverness or skillfulness of conception or design: a device of great ingenuity. 🐓🤓
🐔 (0:59)- Annals comes from the Latin word annus, meaning year. As the word itself suggests, many annals are yearly records, but this is not always the case. You may encounter the word annals in the phrase “annals of history,” which refers not to one specific historical record but the collection of all recorded history.🐓🤓
🐔 (19:24)- Why is bird poop white? Actually, bird poop, per se, is not white. Birds, unlike mammals, do not have separate exits for urine and feces. Both waste products are eliminated simultaneously through the cloaca. While mammals excrete nitrogenous wastes mostly in the form of urea, birds convert it to uric acid or guanine, which reduces water loss in comparison. Uric acid thus forms a white sticky paste. So the white part is actually bird pee; it is the dark center that is the poop.🦅🤓
I watched my first HAXMAN yesterday. Frankly, I was surprised how entertaining & informative it was, way more entertaining than what I was expecting! No offense. This chicken coup sealed the deal & I’m now subscribed!
Man, I would absolutely love the plans for this build. It's the way I need to build here in TX for our small yard. Maybe a bit large for our needs, but I love the idea of a tractor / run style that gives them grazing ability and keeps them safe from predators.
Not to step on Haxman's toes but there are several small farm channels on here who use chicken "tractors". A couple that come to mind are Hollar Homestead and Sow the Land. I believe they both have videos that show their builds.
You rock, Haxman! You are the king of hacks! This was a great project and video all the way from the paint to the stainless bolts and lock nuts. Nice job. Thanks.
I love the humor in your video this was very time-consuming and hilarious at the same time keep the good editing and channel going brother I know it's a lot of work I love the idea of this chicken coop but I honestly could not afford to do it I don't think and the tools I'm a rigid man myself but I'm sure this will give a lot of inspiration for others again I love your humor
Loved the video. Not only informational but funny as hell. The only thing I would change is the nestboxes. I would spend the money and use a roll out nest box. Cleaner eggs and no damage to the eggs. Other than that seems like a perfect build for a small flock.
Great video and always nice to see a square head screws in the video. A trick I learned when caring sheets of plywood is stand it tall put your back to it, and then put your hands on the edges while squatting just a little bit hold onto it and lean forward, carry it like a backpack. Great videos always be safe. Keep the chicken safe.
Super cool chicken condo. I kept wondering how that massive coop would be moved out of the driveway. My son just made me a 16' x 8' hoop coop run and the chickens love it. We have hawks here as well.
Rad! I suppose I’d have to put a slightly larger wheel with the kind of ground I’ve got. But a simple upgrade would be to modify the jacks to accept a drill/driver/etc to crank handle instead of doing it by hand.
I watched my first haxman video yesterday: your humour definitely makes these videos worth watching . Also I’m enjoying this idea of the chicken coop, I want something similar in my garden (to keep the dog away from chickens when I get them)
My husband and I are finishing our first coop build by ourselves. Found this video after a long day of building and man that was fantastic!!! I never expected to find this level of production quality on a chicken coop video. The chickens are kinda my thing but my husband goes along with it. This is the perfect type of content to get him to watch with me because it's entertaining and not bland like most chicken content. Keep at it!
I can truly say, I haven't laughed this much in a long time. I love your sense of humor! Your wife and kids are so wonderful. I was amazed that the wild hawk came to your hand. Then I realized that you had a glove. It wasn't wild at all. The comment, "I was surprised that it could read,"was hilarious! Great video!
Switch to Koop Klean for bedding!!! The bark causes bumble foot and the Koop Klean is soft chopped up hay, I use the deep litter method in winter and it works beautifully. Definitely can’t use the deep litter method in summer in Florida but I still use the KKlean and it is soft and absorbent so each evening I done a pretty blue throw away glove and clean any dirty litter out of the coop and add another layer of KK. It costs $27.00 a bale that is compressed, so you get a lot of it in a bale. No more bumble foot for my ducks and chickens. I do use foot covers on my girls if the seem to be limping and it had been a tremendous advantage. Amazon had them. I bought a pair made patterns and make them for my girls. I could have patterned them but keeping a chicken or duck still long enough without getting pooo all over was not worth it 😂😂
Hawks are my Spirit animal. LOVED your moment at the meeting. I held my breath thinking that hawk would go for a finger when the food went flying. OUCH!!

Hello. I love your videos! A pro tip for installing the roof panels: stack your panels after cutting them to length and pre-drill your holes (through the stack) for your screws(for purlins) this makes install much easier and your screws line up perfectly. You also avoid the little burrs that can mess with your rubber washers. Hope this helps someone!
Your misting system will shorten the life of your RV fan but IMHO it is an excellent design and I’m going to add it into my chicken coop that this has inspired me to build. Thank you, phenomenal design and execution! Builder, Designer for almost 51 years!

Just had a thought: you could leave the main coop/run in place and put some of the very lightweight flexible HVAC ducting in between the main coop and a movable yard run for the chickens to move through or to a screened garden. White might be a bit translucent but it could be available in clear. Like both your craftsmanship and your humor. About 30-35 years ago at the same time Mark Harmon was declared the sexiest man in America there was an article in a ladies magazine and a sudden fad that we cabinetmakers made the very best husbands. Okay, I am so happy to have my first set of chickens, I have been begging my husband for years.... but coming upon this video is even more glorious. You are awesome, keep making videos!!!
Y'all are a hoot. Lots of funny stuff. I'd be amazed if we wasn't related. I do like that movable chicken coop. It's Alot more fancy than ones I've ever built. Next make a light one from PVC pipe and wire. That way you can move it all around and even your two girls could move it so the chickens can be protected and still dig the ground.
I'm subscribed and turned on the notifications a couple of years ago, when I tripped over your channel. For some reason, I don't get consistently notified when you drop a new video. What's up with that? Glad that you have a black belt in bull-shito. Ha - very nice!
In the Army the tents for hot environments have a top over the top. The top canvas absorbs the heat, preventing the solar heat from hitting the tent roof canvas. Could do that with tin too. With my chickens I put space under the coop for them to go when it's hot out, with a sheltered box fan to keep them cool. The only problem with steps, rather than a ramp, is chicks can't make it up there.
Pocket screws are the only way to go , I used to build cabinets for a living at one time , we always used bar clamps to keep all of our joints nice and tight , wood glue and pocket screws make a nice project
There was a large community of rabbits in my neiborhood for some years now..... till 2 Hawks showed up and decimated the rabbit population... Thanks Hawks for saving my garden
Also all holes drilled expose end grain which is basically a sponge…that’s a beautiful chicken coop so go back and caulk over those screw heads with a light film of caulk. It won’t keep you from being able to remove screws at a later date but it will keep your coop alive for many many more years than if you don’t.
Just found your channel and oh my goodness I want one!!! My husband just retired from the army after 20+ yrs and we moved out to the country. I started looking at prices for coops 🤦🏼♀️! Shut the front door! Living just a little NW of Fort Hood, (yes I know it’s now Fort Cavazos) I need this coop!! Being an extreme city girl and raising my 3 children (35,27,12) in the city. I am so honored to learn a different way of life and being able to expose my youngest child to it. We have 10 white tail Doe’s and 4 Bucks that come in our yard daily. Once at 6:45 am and then again at 8:10 pm. I go out in the yard with them (about a foot away) and throw some apple corn for them. Goodness knows if I’m not paying attention they let me know!! 🤣 We just started growing herbs and jalapeños. I can’t wait to venture beyond.
Hi we are new to your channel and oh my goodness how gorgeous is that you can go every little detail I loved it I watched it a few times so far peace and blessings to you and your family stay encouraged and encouraging be good to yourself 💯♥️Ms. Piper and The Powers's Family USA 🇺🇸🙏💜🕯️
Man Haxman, I'm loving your videos. I didn't realize hawks and BoogerMan was a problem there. We have em here in southern Colorado. Maybe cousins. Thanks for the outdoor cooker area video, loved that project, gonna have to do one!
I'm sure the cost of the resources used in this build (tools, shop space, benches) Call smore then fifty times the cost of the materials to make the coup. But it certainly made everything you did in and outside of this video and much more easily doable. AWESOME SETUP
Damn... I always scroll down and take a quick glance at the comments when starting a new video. Kinda rolled my eyes at all the comments about the humor but you got me almost right away with that voldemort.

Wow! Your work is SO NEAT! You make it look so easy.
I love this video! The genius of the build, the editing and the humor. 😂
Man Haxman, I'm loving your videos. I didn't realize hawks and BoogerMan was a problem there. We have em here in southern Colorado. Maybe cousins. Thanks for the outdoor cooker area video, loved that project, gonna have to do one!
The coolest coop!
I have missed you and your antics. Thx for a new video ❤😊
Thanks so much!
Thank you!
A money back guarantee up front. Very nice
