    My keratosis Pilaris holy grail: goat milk soap. I buy homemade Goat milk soap from the farm businesses in my state or Etsy. A bar costs $5 to $8. It keeps my keratosis Pilaris in check. Smooth skin all day without ever using lotions, scrubs, extra stuff. Been using goat milk soap for years. Never have bumpy skin since.

      We had to wear uniform jumpers at my elementary school, which were sleeveless. And I absolutely hated sleeve-less stuff( and still do, to an extent) because of my kp. I didn’t know what it was, but I’d always have a different classmate around once a month or two notice my arms and ask why I had such big/so many goosebumps on my skin. I was so embarrassed that I’d just pretend to shiver a little and say that I’m always cold. 😭 I was happy to learn when I got older what it was and how common it is for others, too. Still working on finding a remedy for it tho

    Just a small rectification it's actually the other way around :

    Eucerin used to make a lotion that worked well; not sure why they discontinued and reformulated it. The new version is not good. The Ordinary (online) designed a custom regimen for my face that included 10% Mandelic Acid (MA) + HA to help with dark spots. I decided it was to oily for my face and repurposed it for my KP-affected legs, since it triggers exfoliation. Now, I add The Ordinary 10% MA to Gold Bond Radiance Renewal body lotion and it has worked wonders. I tried this first with the Gold Bond Rough and Bumpy Skin Cream, but that stuff smells sour, so I switched. The dark spots are not yet all completely gone, but my legs are so much smoother. I exfoliate too, but not harshly.

    Hey girl great video. I think you have AHAs and BHAs mixed up. BHAs penetrate deeper into the skin because they’re oil soluable while AHAs stay on the surface bc they’re water soluable. You should focus on salicylic acids since kp traps oil and dirt under the skin causing the raised bumps. Also glycolic acid may actually worsen hyperpigmentation, especially darker skinned women. You may want to switch to a gentler aha like mandelic acid because the molecule are bigger and therefore gentler on the skin. And one more thing, it isn’t the best to combine physical and chemical exfoliation, especially on the same day, as again you may worsen the hyperpigmentation due to excess irritation. It’s best to limit physical exfoliation 2-3 times a week if you feel like it’s a must, but personally I would just not do it at all.

    • @Loa.Dreamer
      @Loa.Dreamer  4 года назад +2

      Yes, I definitely mixed up my acids! I will have to clarify in a more in depth video. But also, it depends on the skin. Salicylic acid irritated my skin, as well as chemical + mechanical exfoliation together (depending on the methods used). Which is why the gloves and glycolic work for me. I have sensitive skin, so I have to do a lot of experimenting to find out what works 😂 luckily nothing has darkened my dark spots, but I haven’t found any good techniques to lighten them either. I’m working on that, because a lot of people have to same problem. But I also want a solution that everyone can afford. I know there are very expensive treatments & products out there that can help, but not everyone has money to keep spending, so I hope to find something affordable to fix the texture and hyperpigmentation of KP, maybe even a cure. Hopefully I will find a solution soon!

    Coincidentally also I used The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner to improve the stuck-on dead skin on my elbows because the physical exfoliation didn't completely resolve it. The glycolic acid helped a lot, as it also helped my face where I had leathery dead skin on my cheeks, but unfortunately it didn't unclog my pores. I learned that BHAs go deeper than AHAs so I started using my Peter Thomas Roth face wash wich has glycolic/AHA AND salicylic acid/BHA in it (I applied it on at night and slept in it like a mask) I saw an immediate/overnight difference in my pores with less oil. I wonder if a BHA like salicylic acid will help clear out the pores on my legs. I have strawberry legs and plan to try BHA (either Peter Thomas Roth face wash or The Ordinary's salicylic masque I just ordered) to see if it helps.
    Have you tried ever BHAs for the remaining spots/dead skin and oil trapped in the pores?

      I am Trying so many things to clear these dark spots! Nothing is working yet, as far as AHAs or BHAs. That Peter Thomas Roth face wash sounds amazing! I will have to try it! Possibly an overnight mask would help! Thanks for the help!

      @@Loa.Dreamer I find that Nair hair remover helps. It exfoliates. It doesn't remove it completely, but I see an immediate difference in the black dots/visible hair follicles. A friend of mine started waxing her legs and over time it completely removed it. I mean COMPLETELY! Perfectly poreless looking. Regular waxing at a salon is not in my budget. She does a DIY wax... but I'm not willing to put in the work not okay with the pain. I look forward to my salicylic masque arriving! • @Loa.Dreamer
      @Loa.Dreamer  4 года назад +2

      Yes, BHAs have smaller molecules and can penetrate deeper in the skin to help even a exfoliate. Most people use them for acne or exfoliation issues. AHAs are more for surface problems on the skin. Most people use them for things like dark spots or evening texture. It just depends on your skin and preference.

    • @Loa.Dreamer
      @Loa.Dreamer  4 года назад

      I have not experienced KP on the forehead before. The skin on the face is different than the skin on the body. I would say whichever method of exfoliation you choose, it should be gentle to start off with. A scrub with very tiny grains, like sugar, would probably be best to start off with. Also, don’t forget a good moisturizer to help soften that skin.
