I understand looking at spending so much $ is a tough choice - but all my thoughts are already here. You will have to make up your own mind :). Consider that with D4 ISO capability, slow shutter situations may not be as common as your d300
Hi Matt, What lense were you using to shoot this video? Btw, thanks a lot for all the tutorial and reviews. You've been helping me a lot. Thanks. Cheers mate. Have a nice day.
HI Matt, Just a quick question.... I'm half way saving to a D4 (currently on a D300 &18-200vr) and trying to decide between the Tamron 24-70 vc and Nikon 24-70. This is a difficult one as the VC is great for video and slow handheld's. I am gonna have to use either one with my D300 until I fill up my coffers for the D4 but as the Nikon 24-70 is king I really don't know which to go for. Any advice would be great:) Your video's are really inspiring give me great confidence, keep up the great work !
Hi Matt, first off i love all reviews of yours. I have a question, I am now possessing a D7000 and I'd like to know if the Nikon 24-70mil is great choice for Street Photography? If not, could you point me one? Thank!
I am considering the Tamron 24-70 but I have a crop sensor (Canon T3i). The salesman at my camera store said I would be better off getting the Tamron 17-50 but it got poor reviews. I want to use it for family gatherings and video of the grandchildren (plays, musicals, recitals, etc). Would you go with the Tamron 24-70 on a Canon T3i? Is that a good fit?
I am off to find part II... I have both the Canon and the Sigma (for Nikon). When I switched over to Canon, it was the first lens I had to get b/c I loved my Sigma so much... so much so I kept it!! LOL (Sold the D90 and kept the amazing little D40x!!
I'm very interested in getting the Tamron. Anybody know why they're SO cheap on ebay? I've been thinking about getting it off there, but there has to be some sort of a catch. Either less quality, or shady optics, I don't know. Can anyone clarify???
great series helps a lot thanks for all the time you've dedicated. which one would you choose when it comes to 70-200 2.8 Tamron or Sigma. Please Please reply thanks.
Hi Matt, really enjoying watching your videos. Planning of buying the Nikon 24-70 and I have a D90 which is a DX body, will it work with no problem this FX lens? also, need to know your suggestion which one should I do,.... buy a good lens or upgrade the body first, Thanks
Hey Matt, I have a Nikon D5100 and want to know which lens would you recommend for portrait and fashion photography. And also which telephoto lens would you recommend for sports, of course I need an f/2.8 to have that nice bokeh. The telephoto needs to be able to AF because the sports I shoot for are in low light and fast paced. Please help me and get back. Thanks :)
Watch your horizon, the whole first shot is sliding to the left. Camera might be level due to the gradient of the street but it just looks crooked here - also the distortion(?) in the table looks crazy, what lens was used?
quick question, I use D7000 and using Auto focus no matter what lens I use lens not always focus the face right for which I use one point focus. am I doing something wrong or how can I use autofocus to focus on face? thanks
Hi Matt! This video was published on April of 2012. And Sony 24-70 f/2.8 was not included here. But can you make a new video including the lens i just mention? I'm planning to buy it soon, but I'm still confused which one is the best..
I had the 24-70NIKON. Its huge and heavy. I sold it for the Tamron. 24-70VC . Its better for me. Is it as sharp as a NIKON. ? My brides dont use a magnifying glass to look at every edge only geaks do that. The Tamron 24-70 vc is a great lens for low light or videos..I think its better then the NIKON because of the VC..
Hello there, are you familiar with "Photo SFXart Tricks" (just search on Google for it ...)? On their website you can watch a smart free video showing the way to make better pictures. This helped Daniel to shoot photos which leave you with that wow-effect when you look at them. It might help you too.
Yeah, I know I'll have to make up my own mind(or maybe my wallet will), I guess if I'm gonna use it for handheld video its gotta be the Tamron. I presume that just having a D4 and a decent 2.8 my shots are gonna be noticeably better quality etc anyway .......there's always the 50% price difference aswell.....

true! Will try to get that for future tests.
Fantastic series! I really commend your big attempt at objectivity and the way you take the time to completely show every pro and con of every lens.
Thanks Matt, you are the only one that can do a 4 way shoot out and appreciate the non-biased appraoch
Your comment about VC and video shooting shooting test at 70mm is what helped me decide. Thanks!
I own the Nikon, have good relationship with Sigma and Tamron, and loaned the Canon gear from a mate.
very educational matt! appreciate your expert inputs.

part 1 of many... keep going :)
i am not doing a direct res comparison, and I don't think the brand new D4 and older 5D are a fair comparison

tokina 28-70 atx pro II 2.8? i can+t find any good review for it. i am thinking to buy tamron 24-70 vc but i want to see comparison before i decide
Hi Matt, first off i love all reviews of yours. I have a question, I am now possessing a D7000 and I'd like to know if the Nikon 24-70mil is great choice for Street Photography? If not, could you point me one? Thank!
Hi, nice review. One question though... What do you mean by lens maximum reproduction ratio. Thanks keep the reviews coming
You should do a handheld test between the two Tamrons, with and without the "VC" on the last one.
I am considering the Tamron 24-70 but I have a crop sensor (Canon T3i). The salesman at my camera store said I would be better off getting the Tamron 17-50 but it got poor reviews. that will come too

Literally you have saved me hours & hours of research, as you did before with 70-200mm 2.8 shootout.
Fancy doing something on fisheyes?
great series helps a lot thanks for all the time you've dedicated. which one would you choose when it comes to 70-200 2.8 Tamron or Sigma. Please Please reply thanks.

Matt, you should of added a Sony Carl Zeiss 24-70 F2.8! That would of been an epic comparison.
How does thatnikonguy have all that gear? I run a blog on the just released camera gear and i have no idea how matt has all those products to compare

nice video! I like your jacket, where did you get it?
Great review with a wide range of lens.. informative! Subscribed! =)
So Sigma and Tamron lend you the products or do you buy a wholesale price?
it is part of their normal range - can get at any dealer.
any thought to buying a new tamron v. used nikon for similar prices? Basically new and vc v. nikon?
Watch your horizon, the whole first shot is sliding to the left. Camera might be level due to the gradient of the street but it just looks crooked here - also the distortion(?) in the table looks crazy, what lens was used?
i cant wait for part 2 :(
and.. tokina 28-70 atx pro II 2.8?
i'm a beginner and no much money to spend on it. I got canon 450D,
which you can recommend to me the canon.sigma or tamron lens?
please help thanks
Realy great videos, thank You for doing it :)
quick question, I use D7000 and using Auto focus no matter what lens I use lens not always focus the face right for which I use one point focus. am I doing something wrong or how can I use autofocus to focus on face? thanks
thank you awesome videos really helped
You should include sony also, their Zeiss lens are so well built
i have seen some videos about light leak and zoom ring problems about the nikon.... are these videos true??
Olympus E-5 + Zuiko 14-35mm f/2.0 weather sealed (28-70mm equivalent) would be a good comparison.
Usually people like him on youtube, normally ask the lens makers, their friends or a nearby shop.
You should do a new showdown with the new versions
Why does it look like the canon 24-70 extends when zoomed? I thought it was all internally zoomed. No tube extending out...
GET THE TAMRON 70-200 Vc and the 24-70 Vc to review please :)
There is a show... His kiss on the Nikon 24-70mm!! My Fav lens also, which I'll purchase someday to own instead of renting it!!!~!!!
How exactly can one maintain a good relationship with camera companies?

well, if so, can add pentax DA* 16-50 f2.8.
is there something wrong with the audio?

Do i really need a lens like that? I mean i love this lens, but i use 1 35mm f1.8 and a 50mm f/1.8 both on a camera of its own. Its all i ever need :)
@0:51 : toink !
@0:54 :mwah !
You really love your Nikon !
Me too ! Cheers !
nice comparison.......
Yes! Lets see if i decide to sell my nikkor or not..
1. Nikon 2. Tamron 3. Canon 4. Sigma
no need to be sorry - next time bring a notebook.
compare the sony carl zeiss!
this will be good...
you won't ahve to wait long :)
No show in this showdown :-(

Anyone reading this - I have never used this software, as is the Magic bullshit below. This is spam, they are blocked.
wow that's a lot of 24-70s
TOKINA????????? Don't tell me your scared it might out perform the much more expensive Nikon!
Yeah, I know I'll have to make up my own mind(or maybe my wallet will), I guess if I'm gonna use it for handheld video its gotta be the Tamron.
