It's such a pity that the english subs are only setup to state what is said in the english dubs. The japanese lines often are quite different from the english ones, so the lines end up being mistranslated if your relying on the subs to say whats in the scenes.....
This, a thousand times this. There are so many times I play a game with Japanese dubbing on and find myself reading the subs and going "That is totally not what he/she just said."
Totally agree. What bugged me even more is that the French sub (french speaker native) are more thruthfull than the english one. Too bad I didn't notice it before finishing the game xD. While I do understand the need to sometime completly redo the sentance in a dialogue to adapt it to the english way of speaking, it's outrageous that sometime the meaning is completly different from the original text : /
What did they change? I noticed they made some changes on the main game (one of the most blatant is Noctis's farewell on the camp after the credits, changing "I love you guys" to "you guys are the best" because no homo or some similar stupid reason) but what did they change on Chapter Ignis? Better yet, is there any list of the mistranslations?
it would take away from the narrative. main game is 90% Noctis. this is a lot better this way. makes it feel like a big story instead of one linear campaign
The menu's screen and the song are enough to almost trigger me into another tearfest. Thank you. Well, guess now we know why Ignis behave like the mother of the group; Regis told him to be "Noct's older brother" XD Aaaaand I keep crying in that credits scene. Dammit.

I find it interesting that at around 53:10, when Ignis pushes off the MTs and forces himself up, in the Japanese he's breathing heavily to show how strained he is. Now, don't get me wrong. I do enjoy FFXV's English Dub. But why the heck did they have the English VA do all those awkward grunts and groans in that scene? Lol. Seems like such a weird change that makes no sense.
I wish I could have a game with Ray Chase and then the rest of the game's characters being Japanese dubbed because, really, everyone else's voice actor kind of sucks in English. Ray was the one who really shined in that game...

Well yeah, Japanese dubs 99% of the time are the best ❤ Very rarely is there a bad dub.
