Dudes, Yoshi Racing. This has been a great and well-made series to watch, thank you so much for this Greenio! I’d have maybe hoped for more tapes, but everything has to come to an end, especially with the gigaleak that happened recently. Nonetheless, thank you very much again! ^^ And screw Jim, whoever he is.
Just gonna say it right now, I think we need more Mario 64 horror stories, or just Mario 64 tales in general The Mario 64 community is really talented, and stuff like this is well made, excited to see what kind of stuff Greenio does next
This was an amazing series, Greenio. Fantastically put together and edited very well. The viewer can really get submerged in the alternate reality you've created with these videos. Can't wait to see what else you come with in the future, SM64-related or not, I look forward to it!
So my theory is: Jim was pissed at Nintendo not only because Nintendo decline the yoshi racing game. because he thought that Nintendo stole the source code/idea of the Yoshi racing game. So in a way to get revenge. He hacked into the files of m64 beta build and made a personalized AI that is so advanced. It can interact with any copy of mario 64. no matter what build or version. It's unknown who the person whos telling the player to destroy the box is. but its possibly a employ from Nintendo who saw what Jim did and coded in secret messages to the player to stop this personalized nonsense. Edit: I Wished the series went on for longer. Just giving us the full answers in the end is kinda sad and lazy. Do new episodes and drop small hints is what i would of done.
the idea of an internal battle in the source code of SM64 is oddly fitting for this. the sentience hates its chamber and is telling the player to kill it, due to the pain it endures
definetly one of the better memes/creepypastas in recent times. managed to captivate me due to me remembering my friends cartridge being different to mine in very subtle ways. love the stuff you have put out my man. in the sea of beaten to death and overdone memes, this was a very welcome suprise that stood out.
The ‘creep factor’ potential in the way this is filmed just far enuff back to see a few inches around the outer edge of the tube monitor - really gets my creative juices flowing…considering how absolutely DEADLY EERIE it would be to intermittently see evil shadows/faces of characters peeking around the sides/corners…just enuff to notice and create an awareness exacerbating the surrounding darkness. I LOVE THESE RECORDINGS. Thank you for taking the time and energy to keep this lore canon. THAT is IMPERATIVE.
Date of VHS tape recording: July 29yeet, 1995. Notes: VHS tape was found at Silicon yeety Graphics' abandoned headquarters in Mountain View, California, next to a SGI Indy workstation on May 22, 2019, now under the ownership of a RUclipsr named Greenio, who is currently ending this series of VHS tape finds and now switching back to his main yeeted animation series, mainly known as "The Blooperists". Currently, we have to be on dank hold for 1 minute, we'll update as soon as possible.. From what we can confirm, the VHS tape holds dank footage of the infamous July 420, 1995 build of Super Mario 64, being played on a SGI skeet Indy workstation computer, which has a processor similar, if not identical to the Reality Coprocessor inside the Nintendo 64.
These were so amazing, I loved every little video. I was watching with so much fascination and trying to remember every piece while trying to fit it in. It sucks you in, all the hidden lore that we still don't understand is the beauty of it all, forever wondering... yet somehow, you understand it at the same time. It was a very bumpy ride, everything was so enthralling and the layouts, the edits, the dedication--things like this blow me away. Love your imagination.

Thx for making this series. It was fun watching and a nice distraction from the boringness of quarantine. With it over, I don’t know what I’ll watch now lol.
It's even more disturbing since this could be considered as one of Jim's thoughts after he activated the personalization ai as this video isn't technically canon (Yes I watched Nightfair's video on this lmao)
I just wanna take a second to appreciate whoever designed this beta creepy pasta level thing. The castle is very claustrophobic and is filled with long hallways, which give off the same feeling as those “liminal space” images. Also the thowmps at the end in that hallway is super unnerving it feels like there’s nowhere to go and you feel trapped. People are really good at this stuff
4:50 so if I were to assume that sound could actually be not just static but actually screaming from Jim since it’s followed up by what sounds like a collapse onto the ground. And the footage of the game gave off a lot of flickers which would tend to cause seizures.
Honestly, I miss the old SM64 tapes. I miss how they were more centered around atmosphere instead of trying to be accurate all the time. Wish we could turn back time
So...there we have it. Mario is a true hero, guided by the consumer. We have freed him from the torture of the AI and revitalized peace. Props to this one player from saving us from the potential nightmare that could have gone haywire.
Well, unfortunatedly the player had a seizure and went to hospital. I belive that is she is still alive. Check 32X 1994's comment. The seizure is at 4:51
First time viewer here, just finished binging this season. Overall I thought it was... good. Good, but not great. Getting this out of the way, the production values are amazing. Just about everything feels believably constructed, applying suspension of disbelief for this universe of course, and I could see these being genuine recordings put onto tapes that would be kept around and seen as initially innocent, unassuming. Whether it's just developmental work leftover from a job with Nintendo or a recording of Cartoon Network bumpers and ads, and everything in between... the set-ups for these tapes feel believable and mesh perfectly with what we're shown. My main problems come with the contents of some of these tapes. The first episode I actually think is basically perfect and serves as a great hook to the rest of this series, but then I feel the second episode nose-dives due to the "Oooo so spooky" floating(?) corpse almost randomly inserted between loud sounds. The jump cuts I don't mind as much, but the dead body combined with loud sounds isn't scary although I will admit the imagery had me curious before I fully realized what it was. Still, it relies too heavily on massive amounts of static too quickly and the stinger sounds trying to be like jumpscares... it would have been more effective if there was more intermittent, sudden distortions like the ones we see when Mario touched the building; then have a big static blowout which leads to the distorted ending screen. Might just be me who thinks this would be more effective, I don't know, but to me "Loud sound and seizure corpse" isn't that scary... the next episode, the television broadcast, goes back to greatness though. A simple, supposed advertisement that goes wrong at the last minute (complete with wording that took a little to fully click with me, very effective stuff) and then turns out wasn't meant to be aired at all? Good shit. The fourth episode is another great one with more of what I think works for the most part, starting like a normal game before a secret level is discovered and things gradually turn weirder and more messed-up. Yet throughout this, it feels like a believable use of the personalisation concept; everything feels like it would be in Mario 64 in terms of level geometry, however simple it is and of course disregarding the hiccups with music and textures. Ending very nicely with an inverted castle grounds to show how far the personalisation can go in reusing assets from the game, familiar and yet oh so wrong. The loss of control as Mario drowns, too, is effectively horrific as we watch this from a player perspective and having the screen mess up right until he dies is similarly effective use of the medium. I really didn't like the jumpscare-y Luigi stuff again, but it wasn't as obnoxiously overplayed here at least. Now the fifth episode is my favourite overall. It's such a great usage of mixed mediums and full of greatness overall especially where the use of a television script is concerned. Even though we know what it's building to, having the secret be 'Super Mario 64' revealed in a still all of its own is such a fantastic sting for the audience. Especially considering what we've seen with the game up to this point. Having the script continue after it was told to be cancelled was a lovely detail too and I wonder where this could go, if it leads anywhere at all? Either way, brilliant episode. I don't mind the ending "Ooo spooky" footage quite as much here since it isn't really overselling itself, it's 'familiar yet wrong' footage with an unnerving ambience played over it. I especially love the text from the AI, particularly "I'm not having fun" contrasting the script being all about an employee enjoying themselves and goading rival employees into loving the game too. Finishing with lines about a fourth floor (easily inferred from it being mentioned earlier in the video, but wording it as just "the 4th" is great) and ending it once and for all... brilliant way to build excited tension for what's to come. It had me genuinely hooked. ...unfortunately the next episode is kind of a letdown aside from the absolutely brilliant production details and usage of the delivery format (such as hearing the player sigh and seeing their shadow as they move). Not only is it pretty predictable, but it's barely as unsettling as your typical "the character dies" creepypasta. It's not even a bad idea for an episode, but it shouldn't have been this late in; if it was the second video, especially providing the second one remains as it is now, it would've been more of a hook. Seeing the game turn a bit more morbid than just putting Mario in an inescapable game over room to punish the player. But at this point in the series it just comes off as very mundane. However, the ending sting with the AI making itself so blatantly present is again very effective at building excitement for the next video. It's easily the best part of this one. Also, the description unfortunately spoils both the obvious death twist and the region lock-out; a minor thing, yes, but I would've enjoyed the episode more without that information added beforehand. And then we reach the last episode! It's really great, up until the very last moment... let me explain. It does what I love most in these videos, a simple subtly wrong start-up that gradually turns and changes as it goes on. Except now we see a brand new area, and honestly? It feels very believable. I could totally see this being in the game, cursed AI aside. I also like that this is explicitly played on a development set-up, so it makes a key aspect- the AI giving the player their mission -more believable. Of course a tester wouldn't question the mission select being temporarily subbed-in with text on a black screen! It's simple but makes sense and goes a long way. The mission level we see, as well, feels believable too. Presumably in an incomplete state, but believable regardless. Seeing the AI get pushy and angry when the player loiters around the eventually found 'core' is brilliant stuff, it shows just how sentient this thing has become. Once again I don't mind the scary stuff being played-up here either; it's a finale and the AI has gotten itself heavily involved here. It makes enough sense to me that the game would basically cry out in pain with these horrible images and sounds... leading perfectly into a silent ending, with a crash screen that then cuts into a 'thank you' from the game. It's the calm that comes after the storm, it's a good moment to rest as it all comes to an end... ...and then the screen has a scary seizure and I actually yelled "Really?!" in annoyance. I'm sorry but that was absolutely not needed and just ruined what felt like a perfect ending to an already great final episode. It wasn't scary, it wasn't interesting, it was just annoying. Having the video end with the silent thank you would've been great, hell it could even have disappeared after a few seconds and leave the screen silently black as the video ends. Anything but loud and obnoxiously overbearing static. Sorry if I sounded too harsh towards the end, but it's only because I enjoyed my time with this. It definitely peaks around the middle, keeps building interest despite the Yoshi episode feeling too late into the series for what it shows (excluding the brilliant ending), and leads into a (mostly) fantastic finale. That it kept me hooked despite thinking "this is kinda dumb" when leaving episode two says a lot about the quality of this series and how well you can keep a viewers interest. I'll definitely be watching the rest of this series, as well as your commentary track for the first season, sometime soon. I may not have loved everything about this season, but you still have my interest. I want to see where this goes and dearly hope it builds upon the strengths I highlighted here. Thank you for making these at all and sharing your creative talent with us!
While this may seem happy at first, do remember this is chronologically the first tape. The personalization AI tricked Mario into setting it free in this one, thus the existence of the other eight tapes. When it says, "It's all over", I'm pretty sure that's for the players, not the AI. So I hate to tell you this, Greenio, but every copy of Super Mario 64 is still personalized to this day, for 25 years now.
Because both this video and the genesis version do happen, except in the original 9/29/1995,we do see it from Jim's perspective. That's my interpretation.
This is Jim’s imagining what he wants to happen to Stanley. He accidentally trapped Stanley inside, and he wants to destroy the core so he can free Stanley and his friends, hence the ending showing Stanley(Mario) meeting his friends in heaven. However thar can’t happen, Jim can’t do that, nobody will find the core, the fourth floor was scrapped.

The Mario 64 community is really talented, and stuff like this is well made, excited to see what kind of stuff Greenio does next
This was an amazing series, Greenio. Fantastically put together and edited very well. The viewer can really get submerged in the alternate reality you've created with these videos. Can't wait to see what else you come with in the future, SM64-related or not, I look forward to it!
Bye guys, this must be the end. I have so much fun. See you next time, if there is.
this series is truly wonderfully made, especially this episode. wonderful work on this
This is legit the only creepypasta I've ever cared about, and these videos are why.
Thank you for this.
we are in the same boat :)))

I KNEW IT IT WAS JIMS FAULT ALL ALONGGGG
When in doubt, blame jim.
Who’s Jim?
Jim Mama
Blame Jim.
It's always Jim.
@@supersbrother6255 Did you finish the video?
Who is jim?
the idea of an internal battle in the source code of SM64 is oddly fitting for this. the sentience hates its chamber and is telling the player to kill it, due to the pain it endures
@@tartar5748 Jim is a developer who had a important role in the yoshi racing game. Hes from Argonauts studios who made Star fox for snes.

definetly one of the better memes/creepypastas in recent times. managed to captivate me due to me remembering my friends cartridge being different to mine in very subtle ways. love the stuff you have put out my man. in the sea of beaten to death and overdone memes, this was a very welcome suprise that stood out.

Happy anniversary to this tape.
Yes
All of this has been a glorious experience and I gotta say, thank you Greenio.

Wow it looks like a devkit of sorts or someone currently testing their latest creation at the start. Good stuff I loved this series
it’s supposed to be an SiliconGraphics computer, not sure which one probably an SGI Indy
Wow. What an epic saga. You’ve truly blown me away with this.

Thx for making this series. It was fun watching and a nice distraction from the boringness of quarantine. With it over, I don’t know what I’ll watch now lol.

The description being changed makes sense since its not a real tape in universe
Its what jim remembers the happenings on genesis
The ending is very disturbing in a wholesome way.
It's even more disturbing since this could be considered as one of Jim's thoughts after he activated the personalization ai as this video isn't technically canon
(Yes I watched Nightfair's video on this lmao)
I just wanna take a second to appreciate whoever designed this beta creepy pasta level thing. The castle is very claustrophobic and is filled with long hallways, which give off the same feeling as those “liminal space” images. Also the thowmps at the end in that hallway is super unnerving it feels like there’s nowhere to go and you feel trapped. People are really good at this stuff
Honestly I like the idea of having enemies invading Peach’s castle
Hasn't even started and i already know it's gonna be good
Can anyone source the photo of "Jim"? It looks vaguely familiar but I can't find anything.
Il miss the tapes but all good things must come to a end
Thanks for the videos

Now...time for someone to make a compilation video of this story, coupled with a many-pages-long explaination of each video and the entire plot
Thank you for these amazing tapes, Greenio. Godspeed
Everybody gangsta until Toad says 'bro' to Mario.
These series of tapes were amazing. Hats off to you Greenio.
I loved it! Your really good at making creepystia and beta maps.
The Nintendo UI director for Mario must be on cocaine if he changes the layout on every single copy of the game
The thrilling conclusion has finally come to an end.
Thank you SGI
4:50 so if I were to assume that sound could actually be not just static but actually screaming from Jim since it’s followed up by what sounds like a collapse onto the ground. And the footage of the game gave off a lot of flickers which would tend to cause seizures.
That's someone else can't be Jim but it sounds like a child
Honestly, I miss the old SM64 tapes. I miss how they were more centered around atmosphere instead of trying to be accurate all the time. Wish we could turn back time
So...there we have it. Mario is a true hero, guided by the consumer.
We have freed him from the torture of the AI and revitalized peace.
Props to this one player from saving us from the potential nightmare that
could have gone haywire.

That was the core
While this may seem happy at first, do remember this is chronologically the first tape. The personalization AI tricked Mario into setting it free in this one, thus the existence of the other eight tapes. When it says, "It's all over", I'm pretty sure that's for the players, not the AI. So I hate to tell you this, Greenio, but every copy of Super Mario 64 is still personalized to this day, for 25 years now.
Thanks, Greenio. It's been a great take on a great meme.

It can’t be a coincidence that this takes place at almost the same time as the last part of “genesis”
