The Witcher games have many quests where you have the opportunity to be neutral (In TW1 its even a central theme), but having the choice to not complete a contract and not even investigate seems way out of character for Geralt. Sure there are quests where Geralts can spare the monsters but even then, he always ensures the problem will be resolved. However here you have the choice to be total coward, let the knight enter cave alone and die and then not even inspect the cave. And to top it all you can still demand your reward despite failing the only request the lady has! Not only is this whole ordeal out of character for Geralt, its out of character for a witcher as well. Its also amusing that this isn't a glitch or an event that the devs didn't predict. They specifically had voice lines and quest outcome in case you choose to be a coward and then a greedy asshole (normally meditation doesn't progress a quest). Rant over!
I did think that this was extremely out of character. Geralt only asks for his money if he does the job properly and will sometimes not even ask for the money (I.e. with the contract in crow's perch where the boy's father died) so I can't see this as something Geralt would ever do
True, Geralt how we know him wouldn't end a quest like this, but you gotta keep in mind it's still a role-playing game, which means my Geralt is gonna be different from the one you opted to go with. There are a ton of ways due to the dialogue options how you can progress his character, including being an absolute asshole. That's also what makes this game great, you can be a different Geralt every playthrough. While I would never pick that option myself, I think it's a good thing because of variety
Cyberpunk 2077: so it appears that if you look at the reflection of water in this back alley at a certain angle you can see a hidden sign pointing to a street kid hideout which leads you to a different path in a side quest
The amount of detail put into one small side quest is incredible! In most other games you'd just meet him, help him kill the monster, collect the reward. End of.
If I could ever interview anyone at CDPR, I would ask how they planned out all of these extremely minor changes and dialogues based on the slightest variations in game play, and let them know how awesome they are for putting all of this effort into details they knew 99.9% of people who played their game would never see.
They did a good and deserve praise. In the sims 4 they somehow broke the acting career and haven't fixed it for months. The whole witcher trilogy and content cost me less than one sims 4 expansion pack. Sorry just needed to rant about sims 4 and praise the witcher.

I let him die because i was 5-6 levels below grottorre and I couldn’t win it (death march) so i just left haha i went back after i was the same level, so i ddint know that u can talk to the woman too, idk where to find her
I got this ending accidentally, because I came across the knight while I was doing the tourney quest, so I kinda left him there, then when I returned he was dead, so I examined the stuff, then realized grottorre was waaay too high level for me so I just went to the lady lol

They might have changed her model to look less like the people from the base game, her hairstyle and face looked more weathered and practical rather than the flashy decadent style of the dlc so she didn't really fit in. I never actually saw her first design until now since I was fairly late to the witcher
No, they changed her model because she was chubby and due to the political correctness in modern world you can't put chubby person in the context like in this quests (being rejected because of your phisical appearance) The "woke" part of gamers will just EAT you alive ;)

I like the deck too, but without Ceris it's incomplete. When they checked my deck before the tournament, they said "OK, that'll do" but it wouldn't! They should have realized it's not enough to compete and should've sent me to collect all the rest first. When someone just crushed me with Skellige deck several times, and mine was Nilfgaardian of course, I got to appreciate the whole potential of Skellige.
@@katearcher8514 Honestly , i found interesting something. For example i got "Collect them all" in my 1st playthrough when i see a lot of friends complaining for not complete that quest at all. But i got it after i bought cards from one vendor at the begin of Toussaint (the same place you got to go after meet Palmerin). Then on the Skellige one, i notice there is only a few chance you can get the complete deck and didn't count copies on the number , meaning you had to get them by trying from vendors or playing against someone and winning.
I'm actually kinda glad I missed this. Some things are just too tragic to experience, and I'd rather play it through in a good way than go back and do it again in a bad way, leaving a rather bitter taste. Good geralt is best geralt.
I love there is all this stuff to discover in this game! I recently started my 3rd full playthrough and when first arriving at The Inn at the Crossroads, just after leaving White Orchard, I saw armed men demanding food from the residents. I'd obviously noticed this on my previous two playthroughs but dismissed it as background dialogue to further drive home how fucked up Velen is (as if the hanging tree wasn't enough of a statement). This time I decided to see if I could attack the bandits and help the villigers, and yes I could. Quickly dispatched the 4-5 level 5 bandits and continued on the path. Didn't think anything of it until I arrived at Crow's perch and firstly the two guards at the bridge have different dialogue if your kill those men, secondly the gate guards will not let you in and others will attack you in the Crow's perch village, leading to a unique dialogue with an old man who tells you about a secret entrance in the Baron's castle which I never even knew about. Lastly, if all this wasn't enough the Baron himself has new dialogue about it too, on 2 separate occasions if I remember correctly. All that just because I decided to see if I could attack some assholes demanding supplies from peasants.
When i played it on a harder difficulty (not the hardest) i had to dodge a lot because of the stupid plants that kept shooting at me and while i did that the knight would die , so it was a race between me killing Grotore and knight dying.
The amount of details is astounding, you let him die and according to if you wait near the cave or far from it, Geralt’s line will be different. Now that’s immersive.
@@basedpota It is possible, if you skipped almost all secondary quests and focus only on the storyline. For main game it took me about 70-80 hours to finish with completing all optional quests I could find and skipping all Gwent mini-games. Both extensions took me another 40 hours.
I don't think people will ever discover all of the secrets in The Witcher 3, I mean, this game came out in 2015, and it's 2020 and people are still finding secrets in it, it's amazing!
Xletalis i have a minor detail regarding kaer morhen section of the game After u hunt the forktail with eskel and lose that horse race, u can ask eskel what he want and he requests a mahakaman spirit If u have 1 in ur inventory u can give it to him. Later on when vesemir brings uma to the mountains for the ritual, eskel will mention that mahakaman spirit u gave him earlier when the gang sit together for a drink
You always find the most interesting outcomes in this game. Things like this are why I still love to play The Witcher 3, even to this day. There is always something new to explore, a different outcome to try, or a new method of combat to give a shot. It never ceases to amaze me. I love your videos, man. I just started playing TW3 again. I am grinding the Living thing out of everything. But It doesnt feel like grinding. Everything in this Game is perfect.
I got distracted looting the cave and the guy kept going and died. I reloaded an earlier save so I didn't knew you could leave Grottorre alive. And I agree on what you said, one of the most disburbing monsters, just imagining him at night getting into a house to steal children gives me the heebie-jeebies.
To this day I still wonder: Is there a way to be a complete asshole of a witcher and follow each quest in the worst way possible and get a special ending? I have never done it, but often wondered about it.
Hmm remembering when i played this quest on B&W launch, it was a buggy mess. I talked to him, and nothing happens, he stays at the camp. So i go back to the black-haired Lady and tell her that he is dead - but he was not dead, just got back to sleep. And after that talk, he was just missing from the camp. Strange buggy quest it was.

I didn't even know you could get the quest from her,once I was doing some bounties I believe and I ended up meeting this guy near a cave,and I told him to stop trying to hunt monsters,I never knew that you could actually find his soon to be wife in the game,nor that she could have given you this quest,the details in this game are great!
i did this quest well after finishing the main storyline and getting to ~55, came across it when i was running around town, went to the camp did the whole knightly introduction etc he ran off into the cave on his own i just assumed this was scripted and part of the quest found him dead inside with the roots, i torched the plants and killed the monster went back and demanded my reward i just assumed this was the 'normal' way to do this one, the more you learn i guess.
I actually bump into him while on my way roaming the countryside of Toussant. Never even meet her. I wonder if I can just come and meet her to talk about their wedding now or not
Him dying by entering the cave alone was my first playtrough result as I thought it was a good idea to meditate for a while to replenish my potions... well... s... happens... :D
didnt even knew about letting him die. the little detail of witcher 3 is amazing its like they think of every possible way someone can play even the evilest move and account for it. simply amazing game, my all time favorite.
I stumbled across François. I never saw the lady. I found the letters. I accidentally let him die the first time, started over, killed the monster, and told him to stop running around and go back to his girl. Wish I'd seen this video first. Oh well. Thanks for sharing.
Ha! I just stumbled upon this yesterday. I'd taken the contract earlier and forgot about it. Yesterday I bumped into the idiot sleeping, and it triggered him running off toward the cave. Assuming he'd wait for me, like most "follow this person" quests, I took my time looting his camp, not keeping track, and by the time I got to the cave he was dead. I didn't care enough to load a save (he seemed both stupid and lazy), so the whole dilemma about his future didn't even come up. I did find it amusing when she yelled at me for asking for my reward, though. Maybe next time I'll actually keep him alive 😇
When I did the quest. I found him sleeping. Woke him up. He went to the cave while I was looting the camp. Turned out he died so restarted the checkpoint. I completed the quest. Told him he wasn't good enough for marriage. I told the fiance the truth.

Grottore reminds me of that Judge in the castlevania netflix series the one who leads children to a spiked pit then collects their shoes as trophies. I wonder if that behavior was meant as a tribute to the witcher game.
I accidentally got this outcome because I was exploring around and found the cave. The cutscene started playing but I was at a really low level so once it finished I just kept on exploring around because I thought he would wait at the entrance. I came back to do the quest later when I was at the right level and let’s just say I saw the corpse and noped my way outta there. ;-;
On my first playtroug I was like "let's go save the world and everybody" Now I'm going for a true mutant, witcher without emotions. I hunt monsters, I don't get involved in random human affairs, unless some curse or monster is involved, and always get the job done, and get my money... or so I intented to. But, sadly, the game just gives you much better rewards and more XP if you play the hero good guy, so I've given up on that.
After saving and convincing him to return when she tells geralt about the immediate marraige, there was an option to tell her that 'that would not be for the best, he doesn't want to' but she refuses to believe that.
The easiest way is to just not go with him after he starts down the path. He’ll go there and later you find him dead. Though oddly, his empty tent kept snoring after he was dead
I didn’t know you could even meet Jaquette, I ran into the sleepy knight and told him I’d come back and help him later. And he just stayed there sleeping until I did. He was not in a rush to go back to her.
In the mansion where you find letho there is a cellar and behind a wall you can find a skelleton with a note ,after reading the note you can go to the whomen that lives there and she will find out the truth about her brother
1:34 It doesn't matter if you choose on the tournament be Ravix or Geralt. It is not necessary to choose Ravix, you can choose to act as Geralt at the tournament, and in this dialogue he will say about the coat of arms of Geralt of Rivia.
Hmm strangely enough, when I did this on my Geralt of Rivia tournament playthrough, I did not get a dialogue option for it :O Could be I because I may have backed out of the tourney after I finished the quest with Guillaume ...

If you run away from the fight after you began it, Grottoire will wander around a bit outside the cave. Mostly he's out at night but I saw him by daylight as well
The monster reminds me of the pale man from Pans Labyrinth, quite disturbing as well too. Although there are probably lots of stories of monsters eating children and collecting their shoes it's still disturbing even so 😅

I don't think people will ever discover all of the secrets in The Witcher 3, I mean, this game came out in 2015, and it's 2020 and people are still finding secrets in it, it's amazing!

After u hunt the forktail with eskel and lose that horse race, u can ask eskel what he want and he requests a mahakaman spirit
If u have 1 in ur inventory u can give it to him.
Later on when vesemir brings uma to the mountains for the ritual, eskel will mention that mahakaman spirit u gave him earlier when the gang sit together for a drink

You always find the most interesting outcomes in this game. Things like this are why I still love to play The Witcher 3, even to this day. There is always something new to explore, a different outcome to try, or a new method of combat to give a shot. It never ceases to amaze me. I love your videos, man. I've always started the quest outside the cave, never crossed with this lady.
In this case it's worth meeting her I'd say

I got distracted looting the cave and the guy kept going and died. I reloaded an earlier save so I didn't knew you could leave Grottorre alive.
And I agree on what you said, one of the most disburbing monsters, just imagining him at night getting into a house to steal children gives me the heebie-jeebies.

To this day I still wonder: Is there a way to be a complete asshole of a witcher and follow each quest in the worst way possible and get a special ending? I have never done it, but often wondered about it.

Hmm remembering when i played this quest on B&W launch, it was a buggy mess.
I talked to him, and nothing happens, he stays at the camp. So i go back to the black-haired Lady and tell her that he is dead - but he was not dead, just got back to sleep.
And after that talk, he was just missing from the camp. Strange buggy quest it was.

I didn't even know you could get the quest from her,once I was doing some bounties I believe and I ended up meeting this guy near a cave,and I told him to stop trying to hunt monsters,I never knew that you could actually find his soon to be wife in the game,nor that she could have given you this quest,the details in this game are great!

i did this quest well after finishing the main storyline and getting to ~55, came across it when i was running around town, went to the camp did the whole knightly introduction etc he ran off into the cave on his own i just assumed this was scripted and part of the quest found him dead inside with the roots, i torched the plants and killed the monster went back and demanded my reward i just assumed this was the 'normal' way to do this one, the more you learn i guess.
This one I think is better when taken from the quest giver
I actually bump into him while on my way roaming the countryside of Toussant. Never even meet her. I wonder if I can just come and meet her to talk about their wedding now or not
when i did this i failed twice because Grottorre always attacked him so when i was dealing with the archespores the knight was getting shmacked
i accidentally got him killed by going to the bathroom and not pausing the game lmao

didnt even knew about letting him die. the little detail of witcher 3 is amazing its like they think of every possible way someone can play even the evilest move and account for it. simply amazing game, my all time favorite.

I stumbled across François. I never saw the lady. I found the letters. I accidentally let him die the first time, started over, killed the monster, and told him to stop running around and go back to his girl. Wish I'd seen this video first. Oh well. Thanks for sharing.

Ha! I just stumbled upon this yesterday. I'd taken the contract earlier and forgot about it. Yesterday I bumped into the idiot sleeping, and it triggered him running off toward the cave. Assuming he'd wait for me, like most "follow this person" quests, I took my time looting his camp, not keeping track, and by the time I got to the cave he was dead. I didn't care enough to load a save (he seemed both stupid and lazy), so the whole dilemma about his future didn't even come up. I did find it amusing when she yelled at me for asking for my reward, though.
Maybe next time I'll actually keep him alive 😇
When I did the quest. I found him sleeping. Woke him up. He went to the cave while I was looting the camp. Turned out he died so restarted the checkpoint. I completed the quest. Told him he wasn't good enough for marriage. I told the fiance the truth.

Grottore reminds me of that Judge in the castlevania netflix series the one who leads children to a spiked pit then collects their shoes as trophies. I wonder if that behavior was meant as a tribute to the witcher game.

I accidentally got this outcome because I was exploring around and found the cave. The cutscene started playing but I was at a really low level so once it finished I just kept on exploring around because I thought he would wait at the entrance. I came back to do the quest later when I was at the right level and let’s just say I saw the corpse and noped my way outta there. ;-;
The detail about children shoes, surely is a reference to Auschwitz camp.

On my first playtroug I was like "let's go save the world and everybody" Now I'm going for a true mutant, witcher without emotions. I hunt monsters, I don't get involved in random human affairs, unless some curse or monster is involved, and always get the job done, and get my money... or so I intented to. But, sadly, the game just gives you much better rewards and more XP if you play the hero good guy, so I've given up on that.
Yea, I wish it was the opposite way. To give you a real moral choice. Be good or be rich.

After saving and convincing him to return when she tells geralt about the immediate marraige, there was an option to tell her that 'that would not be for the best, he doesn't want to' but she refuses to believe that.
Cradle is nearly same with Gulyabani from turkish culture. Not only by behaviors, the way he looks nearly same.
The easiest way is to just not go with him after he starts down the path. He’ll go there and later you find him dead. Though oddly, his empty tent kept snoring after he was dead
I didn’t know you could even meet Jaquette, I ran into the sleepy knight and told him I’d come back and help him later. And he just stayed there sleeping until I did. He was not in a rush to go back to her.
She really looks like an older Kiera Metz. Likely used the same basic model and changed some colors to add in some aging.

In the mansion where you find letho there is a cellar and behind a wall you can find a skelleton with a note ,after reading the note you can go to the whomen that lives there and she will find out the truth about her brother
think I showed that in my walkthrough video 5 years ago ;] But I should mention it at some point

be Ravix or Geralt. It is not necessary to choose Ravix, you can choose to act as Geralt at the tournament, and in this dialogue he will say about the coat of arms of Geralt of Rivia.
Hmm strangely enough, when I did this on my Geralt of Rivia tournament playthrough, I did not get a dialogue option for it :O Could be I because I may have backed out of the tourney after I finished the quest with Guillaume ...

If you run away from the fight after you began it, Grottoire will wander around a bit outside the cave. Mostly he's out at night but I saw him by daylight as well

I have a habit of meditating before I go to obvious fights and triggered the second option on my first try accidentally.
I remember I did this by mistake the first time, it was late, I didn't feel like riding all the way to a cave.
One thing...I think no one missed it but after the ending of blood and wine ,you can go to arena and you will find pile of bodies.
The monster reminds me of the pale man from Pans Labyrinth, quite disturbing as well too. Although there are probably lots of stories of monsters eating children and collecting their shoes it's still disturbing even so 😅
