I wanted to try this for a long time, now I finally got a chance to see it in action and hopefully it will make my testing a bit easier. 🙃 If you have any questions about the setup process, feel free to ask them here! 👇

Dec 2022: Any special setup for a Win 10 environment? Trying M2 with external housing via USB. USB provides plenty of power but is not recognized as a drive when left in place. Thanks.

great video - Is there anyway to hide the internal drive in the labtop... for a total isolation of the original system and the external ? for me its to totally seperate my private program/downloads and my heavily limited and secured work pc. So I never end up etc getting a virus or malware over the the other system basically

I'm going to try it with an old external HDD for some Nintendo emulator gaming. If the HDD is too unbearably slow I might try ripping out the SSD from my dead Surface Pro 2 and buying an enclosure, or buying a Samsung T7. Would be cool to have a portable gaming PC for those games, just using any computer to run it.

I can't install it because Windows 10 setup does not support configuration of or installation to disks through a USB or IEEE 1394 port. Any solutions?

Would I be able to use this method to install the ISO file on the M.2 through the USB adapter on my computer, then use it as a boot on a new computer build to install windows on the M.2, then from there install the M.2 in the motherboard as you normally would? I can't find one of my USB's to save my life to use that as the boot drive with the ISO to be able to install windows on the already installed M.2, but I found my M.2 to USB adapter.

Hai, I hope this comment section still active. I have some question.
So I got a really slow PC at the office, I want to upgrade it with SSD but it is an AIO PC so dismantling it will be difficult.
So I plan to make boot up SSD with USB enclosure and stumble upon this video.
My question is, I plan to use M.2 with USB 3.0 enclosure, (I dont plan to upgrade more than that, since it is only for the office, and it bought with my personal money).
is this configuration Okay? will it make my PC faster?
I plan to use it only for Office work and internet browsing (Browser are really2 slow on my PC).
Thanks in advance for the answer.

It depends on your built-in hard drive and USB interface. If your AIO PC has the traditional HDD and you’re going to connect a M.2 SSD via a USB 3.0/TB 3, then you will see a speed difference. However, if your AIO PC already has a SATA SSD built-in, you might not see any difference when you connect your external M.2 via USB 3.0/TB3.
