While sometimes campy, the movie excelled in one amazing area: COSTUME ACCURACY! Guyver2:DH's Guyver suit has got to be the most perfect live-action costume adaptation for nearly 2 decades before the MCU tried their hand at super hero suits. Steve Wang is a genius with the Guyver2 suit and the other creature suits in that movie - especially without any major blockbuster-style billion dollar funding.
For a straight to vhs, this movie had no business looking so damn good costumes wise, badass soundtrack and sick fights, def one of my favorites from the 90s that i’ve lost count how many times i watched back then
They don’t make movies like these anymore. This came out before CGI rose to prominence in sci fi films. It’s refreshing to see real martial arts in action flicks. I used to try to emulate a lot of these moves when I was in Han Mu Do in my youth. Good times.

I swear If I ever win the lottery I am gonna make a company that only remakes these old classics.. and stays as close to source movie as possible 😉. Then they would learn as we did 😅
Steve Wang has a passion for this anime, also the work he put in his projects is insane. Tbh I like the camerawork, some simple tricks did a lot of good for the movie. The sound effects are not cheesy, they were in accord with the anime. I just love the music introduction of the villain (although we have seen him, we haven't seen him with a guyver unit) and the intense closeups in it - oh I just love it. The claw scratching his chest - a sign of impatience, even the laughing is not exaggerated for me, as everyone involved knows this is the Ultimate Weapon in the hands of a Zoanoid.

UK vision of this film has about 10-15 minutes cut out of it, and in the US vision there are some scenes where they didn't edit out a wireless on the suit for some of the stunts.
Yep, but the cool thing is... They could always bring him back. Remember in the first movie the control metal had a copy of the users DNA and rebuilt the body 👀 perfect way to start a new entry some old team digs him up.. and the Guyver needs to come out of retirement!
Since 1995 this was my go-to Superhero movie, Blade being the second until Alita came out. I am hoping that with the release of Blue Beetle we get a new Guyver movie.

I think this film had an extremely small budget, around $900k and the costume and fight scenes are fantastic

The guyver was the first anime I ever watched and still love it to this day. These films where brilliant.
I started with the Anime, and then moved the these films, loved every minute of it! Still might check out Manga one day...

First VHS I ever bought as a kid. Had to special order it too. Guyver is the GOAT! And so is David Hayter!
The musical introduction is pretty bad ass. The costume design should not have looked this good in 94 for a straight to dvd film.

When low budget movies have better practical suits and effects than multi million dollar productions, and this was back in the 90s.
This film shows how much can be done without an expensive budget yet still be true to its source material.
Practical effects, time and time again, show that when done well.. they stand the test of time!
