- Changing the switches to better fit your preferences is a fun way to upgrade your fightstick or all-button controller. Today, let's look at a new switch option called the Wind Engine from Haute42!
Thanks to Haute42 / Cosmox for the demo switches. If you want to try some, check out the Aliexpress link here.

Seeing that extra quarter on the ghost got me feeling like paying the premium even though I know I wouldn't feel the difference, lol. My mavercade can use kailh v1 and v2s on the same board, but, to be honest, I actually like my v1 caps by a wide enough margin that I'm probably not gonna mess with v2 switches for a while. Not until there's something on the JFA micro's level of button cap for v2s . I love the smooth feel of the injection molding over the gritty texture of most 3d printed options, and the convexity is just right for me too.
lol @ the quarter. Yeah, I get your take on button caps and I definitely prefer smoother stuff over most 3d-print jobs. Thanks for watching and commenting, dude!
Was thinking of getting these but I might hold off since they’re so similar. Great review as always
Wait is that the goat sf6 match reviewer Chris_F?
Did you install Ghosts already? Yeah, they seem pretty close in feel to me. And thanks for watching/stopping by! Appreciate it!
I bought them as i wanted a better switch than the stock reds i dunno the comparison between these and the ghosts but i there way better than the stock reds the haute came with
Is hard to explain how much better these switches feel, a great upgrade!
Yeah, switch videos are definitely weird because so much is personal preference and it's hard to get the vibe without experiencing it yourself. At least more people may be aware of this one and they are cheap enough they could easily try them out for themselves if they think they might like them based on the video. Thanks for watching!
was waiting for this video, thanks :) going to stick with the crystals it looks like!
Awesome! I figured this topic would have a pretty narrow appeal, but I'm glad someone dug it, lol. Thanks for watching!
I got clicky blue Kailhs on my S16 and I really enjoy the feedback. I got silent switches on my keyboard and daily driver stick and this was an interesting experiment for me and I'm glad I did it!
That's awesome! You never know unless you try, right? So good on you for trying something new. Thanks for watching!
thats waht i did to best for sound and i like it being a bit heavier so i don't accidently press something with side of my finger
NO CLUE how people are playing wiht 40's...
Always great to get more options for low profile switches. I only have stuff that uses Kailh Choc v1s, but maybe someday I'll have something that uses the larger footprint of v2s and the like.
More options is always welcome. Thanks for watching!
I wish more controllers use Cherry MX style switches as there are infinite options to try for those. Just like the G13. Sure it'll either make the controllers thicker or have higher buttons, but there are way too few options for low profile switches.
If a T series sized G series comes out, it's an insta buy for me.
I totally agree. We've got the the Slab Mini, Slab MX, and the G-Series, (and I'm sure one or two more that escape me right now) but it would be awesome to see a few more full-size switch options out there to fill that void.
I hear a remix of the street of rage boss theme on the background 😀
Close! ruclips.net/video/Deyjg3jBXlA/видео.html&ab_channel=HushMySweet
I know I will be the odd bird in this conversation, but I hope we get more options for tactile switches, like some blue equivalent or similar switches with better feedback on button press since linear feels too mushy.
Yeah, linear seems to be the go-to variety, but I am all for more options so people can dial in the perfect controller for themselves, so I hope you get what you're after. A fun controller makes the game more fun imo.
I went on the Haute42/COSMOX discord server and got a link for some tactile blues. They work great!
I will not recommend using the switch puller to pull out the switches, it is better to simply unscrew the enclosure, and pull it out with your fingers, I already had two haute controller lose their soldering joints using the switch puller. I been using keyboard switches since I'm also a keyboard hobbyist, the board on these controllers are not the same quality as the keyboards, it is understandable since it is cheaper
Good to know! Thanks for watching/commenting!
Would these work on the g series of pads? I have a G12 and I actually want low profiles in it cause I'm not a fan of the height of the caps
They work on most of the different Haute42 lines, but not the G series. That controller is designed around full-size switches (they use LEOBOG Graywood switches as their default).
hey Hush! will these switches work for the g series. i dont love the feel of the buttons/switches
Hey dude! So the bad news is no: the G series uses LEOBOG Graywood V4 switches and those are full-size. The good news is that you can still swap to something else, and there are tons of full-size switches out there. Thanks for watching!
i bought a sehawei Arcade leverless controller and its my first time using one, but the buttons are too sensitive for me while trying to do combos. Do you have any suggestions?
Which one? They'll need different switches depending.
Gypherogha beat me to it, but I would have asked the same. Which model are we talking about? Also, I liked my buttons a bit stiff, so on a lot of the V1 devices I had like Micros and such, I replaced with dark yellows because they took ~40% more force to actuate. There are tons of different switches out there though, so I'm sure you'd be able to find something up your alley. I have some other vids on switches and that would likely help you get started.
@@HushMySweet1 It's called a Haute42 got it from Amazon a few days ago
@@HushMySweet1 sorry about that I just sent a link of it
RUclips eats the links, so I can't see it. But Haute42 is a brand name, so that doesn't give me enough info. A) Does it look like the one in this video or the one in the thumbnail? Similar to those? Or, B) does it look like it has square-ish, more keyboard caps? If it's similar to those "A" models like I imagine, then you'd be able to replace just like I demo in this video. You can grab an appropriate number of Kailh low profile V2 switches, just pick a linear kind that will be stiffer than red which is ~50gf. A lot of places sell sampler packs so you can try several before you buy. Good luck!
Is the tension of the crystals the same as the wind engine?
Wind = 40+-10 gf for operating force. Crystals = 43+-10 gf for operating force. They look similar on paper, but I think the Crystal took two more quarters to fully depress. Definitely felt closer to the 50 gf of reds.
hello can i put these switch on haute42 S13 ?
Yes. All the products should be good except for the G series line which uses full size switches. Thank you for watching!
Do they have a Linear or Tactile feel?
From video it looks and sounds like linear, just slightly different resistance and maybe different travel length. Reviewer says it's almost the same.
@@dovs96 Thanks for reaching out, Im currently looking for a great Tactile button hopefully Haute42 do Tactile and Clicky in the future, they'll sell
Linear, yes.
@@Jay-oz1uq kailh make tactile and clicky switches in the lo profile v2 setup. Look up browns and blue v2 switches. Lofree also sell a tactile version fo the ghost called the phantom and a clicky called the wizard. What you want exists my friend!
@yoitsmegabe Yes, all true! Great comment and hopefully that helps Jay in his quest for a solid tactile. Thanks for weighing in!
I don't use this controller I have a hitbox. But I'm curious If there Is there a low profile switch that Is close to the Qanba Gravity KS OMRON White switch ?
How are you trying to use low profile switches in a Hit Box? Couldn't you just sub out the stock Sanwas they come with and insert the Qanba Gravity button of your choice? Or am I misunderstanding? In regard to your question, I don't know off the top of my head. Maybe a clicky white? Or a Junk Food Amber? Not sure, but post back when you find a suitable equivalent so maybe it will help others in the future. Good luck with the hunt!
@@HushMySweet1 My bad I meant to ask If there Is a Low profile switch similar to the Qanba Gavity KS that someone would use on the Haute or other leverless.
Ah, I gotcha. Is that original Gravity KS omron white that you're trying to replicate tactile or linear?
@@HushMySweet1 The linear one, I play on hitbox with the Gravity’s at the moment. But If I ever try the Haute thats what I would look for.
I am not overly familiar with the Gravity KS omron white, but at a glance, it looks like you would want something with a shorter throw or lighter than the stock reds. So, you would probably be a good candidate for either the Ghost or the Wind Engine. If you haven't purchased a Haute42 yet, then after you buy, 1) double-check to see if something else hasn't come out that fits the bill even better in the interim, and 2) confirm that the Haute42 model you bought takes low profile switches since some of their wares take full-size MX switches. (And if you get full-size, that opens up a lot more nuance in the switches, so you could find the exact switch for you). Thanks for watching!
Your device doesn’t need to be hot swappable… hot swappable means to replace the component with the system connected- hence ‘hot’.
You can easily unplug the peripheral from the pc/console before swapping the switches.
You're right of course, I just have a habit of using it to mean "non-soldered" so a switch can be replaced easily. I'll have to try and break myself of the term. Thanks for watching!
@@HushMySweet1 Hotswappable is exactly what these types of keyboard sockets are called, calling it anything else wouldn't make any sense. The guy above is being a pedantic dumbass. The switch manufactures themselves call these hotswap boards.
