  • 1987 Chrysler Fifth Ave with 318 converted to a 625cfm Demon carb and Edelbrock 318 Streetmaster intake manifold. This thing loves the midrange and high rpms now. Runs sooo much better and is certainly a bit quicker. Still has the terrible 2.24 gears out back. But that will be fixed in the spring.

My friend had a 1986 5th ave. back when I was a teenager. We hottroded the heck out that thing. With the stock 2bbl. it sounded pretty much like yours does. It’s great to hear! Like music to my ears.

That’s how you do it gear 1 a lot of people say let the transmission do the job In Drive but it doesn’t do the job right for racing but anyway awesome sound bro

You can easily set the shift speed on the linkage behind the carb for the transmission...Mine shift by the time its in 2nd its 60 mph, chirps at 50-55 mph after the chirp its at/past 60..

Awesome man! I finally picked up a repair manual for body and suspension. Now just need electrical and engine performance book 2.

I just read your description and see that you have that stock 2.24 gear. Yeah..That’s a real performance killer I always thought it was a 2.26, but no matter how you cut it, it’s not enough gear. Here’s a tip for you. The dodge diplomat police package had a slightly stronger diff. with a 2.96 gear. It might not be as big a gear as you want, but it’s plug and play, it fits right in with no modifications and it will smoke the tires off the rims. Btw, you’ve got the only video of an in car carbureted engine wot complete with sound. Can’t believe you don’t have more views. I love it! How about another? 0-100 would be nice!

Sounds great, they were great on the interstate. Seems like mine had 3.23 gears.

In 87 was that still carburated or did you convert from f.i.? I was looking at a diplomat thinking of making a 360 sleeper.

Mitchel Mcgarry they had 2 barrel carbs with leanburn. The electronic feedback stuff. Not hard to get rid of at all. I believe they stayed the same until 89

@@RyanUrbanski ok I know from about 87 most companies were using f.i. but I think I remember Chrysler being late to that game. Thanks for the info.

hey man what type of ignition are u running did u ditch the lean burn crap ? i just need some idea of what to properly do. i want to get rid of the 2bbl but first i wanna get rid of lean burn

Aaron James Di'stefano Vallejo I ordered the mopar electronic ignition conversion, which included distributor, harness, ECU box, and ballast resistor. You can still run your leanburn carb no issues even after changing ignition setup.

Hey there, I’m picking out a carb for my 1972 360 and I wanted to know what you’d recommend? I wanna stick with demon for the brand but not sure what exact carb of theirs would suit it best. I’m running a 600 on my 318 and figured I could go up to 650 at least for this 360. Building it for mid range and top end like yours 😄

Hello! Is it a stock cam, relatively stock engine combo? Ive used a Quickfuel “Brawler” 670 cfm carb before on several 318s, and the big cam magnum combo I had at one point. That would be a great carb to bolt on and get it dialed in. May have to mess with jets or tune it up to get it perfect, but once its right, its right!

@@RyanUrbanski it’ll be getting a mild cam and headers! That’s the one I was looking at actually. Thanks a lot man, I love how yours sounds

      A factory 318/360 quadrajet from cop cars/trucks. 1985-1989. or a 600cfm edelbrock or Holley.

Are you still running AC or did you ditch it?

Karl Christensen I had ditched the A/C at this point. I don’t know if the intake would have worked with a/c or not
