Excellent comparison and playing. Well done sir. Thank you.
What an excellent comparison video. Thank you!
What a terrific review - same piece on both guitars, with and without backing; rhythm; leads, riffs. Awesome. Happily I’m about to buy a JP15 Purple Sunset so this has convinced me to go for it! Fab review dude.
congrats! I got the purple sunset too :) what do you think??
@@GeronimoBiggles stunning guitar 🎸 wonderfully playable and the piezo is just about the best thing on any guitar ever. An absolutely incredible guitar, I love it. One thing though - the piezo needs an acoustic amp of its own to bring it to life - thoroughly recommend doing that, it’s on another level then.
insanely amazing demo!!!
AMAZING guitars!!! Great video man!!!
Thanks Dude, appreciate it!
Great Playing - great head to head comparison - Have the jp6 and now majesty - Love both
Great comparison. Thanks a lot.
Excellent video. Perfect comparison. Bolt on necks are just perfect for me. I have the iluminators on my RG. Perfect JP tone. Did not feel so impressed by the Music Man.
amazing review!
Excellent video, thanks
Nice to hear the comparisons honestly. Clean tones one can definitely hear defined differences between the 2 guitars. When distorted I found it a bit harder to distinguish the rhythms. But then you played a variety of leads which again could distinguish between the 2 tones. For me personally I have always found the natural tone of the JP15 more appealing to my ear. There's something about the Majesty that doesn't ring as true a tone for my ear anyhow. Can't deny though, EBMM are impeccable craftsmanship for all of their guitars.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful bro
The Repentance solo - I feel like I would go with Majesty neck pickup, definitely. Everything else, well, I think I'd need to test them on my own, like a 5 h test...
great playing and great demo! Thank you! well... the problem is, it's really hard to choose from these two as I hear a bit fuller tone from the Majesty in the video and I really prefer that sound a bit more, but I like the stable roasted maple neck and overall look of the JP15, and also I heard there might be some glithch from the Majesty now and then, so it's really hard to choose now XD
For me it's the JP15 every time. Clean or distorted, solo or rhythm. Interesting.
Thanks for an excellent comparison.
same here,,I've owned 4 of those JP15's...haunting how it beckons me
Suuuuper great comparison, thank you so much!! One question I have is if the Majesty in other colors (the ones that have African Mahogany bodies) sound brighter and more like the JP15? Or is it mostly the pickups that make up for that sound difference? :)
IMO no majesty would ever sound brighter than a JP
Hi! Maybe I’m wrong but it could be that Majesty has less sustain that Jp?
I have an original Majesty in Glacial Frost which is perfect because I love the sound of the Illuminators (which came with the original Majesty) on the 15 but love the look of the Majesty.
Congrats dude, I bet it's an awesome guitar. Personally, I like sound of the DC/RM pickups better, but that's just a matter of opinion
@@artificialinsolence3182 I can't say enough good things about the Majesty. I love the crunch sound of the DC/RM but love the clean sound of the Illuminators. I find I have to turn the presence down with the Illuminators
Hello!! Great review!! I need some help here. I’m new to the majesty. I have a Roland JC22 it’s a stereo solid state amp, how do I run the stereo feature of the guitar in to the amp? Thanks!!
A TRS Y-cable will do the trick.
I own both a 2020 15 and 2019 majesty, I like the majesty more but the 15 is growing on me
I am jealous. ;-)
Thanks for sharing.
My feeling from the video : Distorted sound of JP15 sounds more bottom, well balanced sounding suitable for rhythm, while Majesty Kinetic Blue sounds more focused and bite, more suitable for leads? Do you have similar feeling when you play?
Yeah, I've made similar observations. The 15 "screams" a little more, has more high overtones, while the Majesty sounds a bit more grounded, warm and earthy.
Thanks!
After having Kinetic Blue for few months (I wait for delivery for one full year lol), I come back here to listen your comparison again...
During playing I found the output of Dreamcatcher is smaller than I expected. Also now I realize what you meant Majesty is bit warm and earthy. The tone of Rainmaker for soloing is awesome and versatile even though it maybe not so “wild”.
Haven’t had any chance to play a JP15 yet, maybe one day will get one...
Thanks and stay safe.
Is all that background music yours?
It sounds real good, whatever it is...has the JP vibe, and very vocal like. Those DiMarzio neck pickups are gorgeous. I'm assuming...lol...its yours right?
Yup, that's right! The music in my video is almost always tracks I've written and recorded myself. It's no coincidence they sound like JP, lol. I assume you're talking about the song at 0:40. That one is called "Seminormal" and can be listened to here: soundcloud.com/user-201837006/seminormal
nice video man,,especially since you are playing the kinetic blue model which i am looking to get sometime,,HOWEVER im a jackson guy and have played jacksons all my career, all usa select neckthru mahagony models,,,i like your comparisons here but comparing a bolt on with a neckthru is a challenge.
but this video is very well done,,,i wish i could play one before i buy it so i can see if the 17'' radius is to flat for me,,,,,imo the majesty has a much tighter sound than the jp 15,,it sounds wonderful,,,and im also glad you played dream theater songs for this demo also well done..
Thanks man, glad you liked it!
Hey man, I'm thinking about buying a 2019 or a Monarchy. What do you think about it? Is there a huge gap between them? How do pickups compare?
Awesome tones and playing man!
No, there's not a huge gap between them. I actually have the Monarchy Majesty as well and the only difference is a satin finish on the neck (instead of glossy) and Sonic Ecstasy pickups. These pickups sound a little darker compared to the DC/RM in the 2019 Majesty and to my ears a little fuller when going to deeper tunings. But really, the tonal differences are marginal, you can't go wrong with either of them. In the end, it's up to you whether you prefer a glossy (2019) or satin (Monarchy) neck.
@@artificialinsolence3182 Thank you! I tried once a Monarchy 7 and I was impressed by the pickups, the tone was so liquid, smooth and tight that I got surprised by them. Perhaps could you do (or write) a comparison between the pickups? I'm curious since they have been there only for one year or so, completely unnoticed.
Спасибо!
Great Review. I have the JP 15 and the Majesty Monarchy (which have the Sonic Ecstasy). I love both and can appreciate the differences between the two. Note to those reading this: I also use the split coil setting in my set list with band. I think it sounds snappy and percussive. Overall, you can't go wrong with either, except for some slightly greater upper fret playability with the Majesty. That floating bridge is magical, so damn good. I'm, at best, a very casual DT fan, but I have a lot of respect for Petrucci and these guitars can handle their own in other genres. My band, Lion-Hearted, plays Brutal Funk, kind of like Funk Metal.
Heh. Brutal Funk? Sounds rad, man. And yes, JPs guitars are suited for many different kinds of styles due to their tonal capabilites. Thanks for watching!
They're both nice. To me the JP15 has a nice acoustic sound and heavy thick distortion. The Majesty has a more modern sound in both the acoustic and distortion. It's hard to describe.. like a more metallic sound.. but they both sound nice and look nice. I would probably buy both if I had the money but if I had to choose one (it's a hard choice)...I would buy the Majesty. But then again...six string or seven string?..another choice to make!! Lol
Nice playing by the way!!!!
Both guitars are amazing but i like jp 15 more.. Much more clarity and classic feel
The JP15 sounds gritty, almost fizzy. The Majesty sits nice in the mix the 15 sits ABOVE the mix.. You can always adjust the the Piezo for more or less treble.
Hi what are the pick ups used in majesty
cool video
Honestly the thing it comes down to for me is ease of play. Which out of the 2 is the easiest to play in your opinion?
Hey Max, thanks for asking! I'd say it depends on your situation. If you're playing at home or in a studio, both are equally easy to play. However, if you're also in live situations, you may wanna go with the JP15. The Majesty's neck tends to get sticky with sweat when played over some time, whereas the 15's roasted maple neck stays buttery smooth. I mean, you could wipe down the Majesty's neck in a live situation also, but who has the time to keep doing that on stage?
So, in my opinion, it all comes down to the neck and in that category, the JP15 has the advantage over the Maj.
@@artificialinsolence3182Cheers for responding! Sounds been looking into getting a jp model for a while, so will take this into account
very cool
The JP15 will likely be my next guitar..... That roasted maple looks gorgeous and the oiled necks feel amazing. I could care less to have that fancy wood top though.... would prob prefer a painted body or maybe even a JP6 with a roasted maple neck. The Majesty is attractive too BUT can't get over the painted neck.
Yeah, it really does feel amazing. Have you tried the 15?
@@artificialinsolence3182 I have not. I just sold a JP6 and I wish I hadn't. Would like something similar but really want the roasted neck. Have been looking at the Jason Richardson as well.
@@MonsterChuck I feel ya. Had a JP6 Mystic Dream myself and ended up selling it. Granted, it a few scratches und scuffs, but in hindsight it felt wrong. However, I got another JP6 MD a year later - which you can see in action in my Metallica Holier Than Thou video. I don't know... there's just something very magical about the 6, especially the Mystic Dream variant. All I know is that I will never sell it again!
hi! thanks for upload this amazing vid.this is the best competition I had check ever.I have the first series JP6(EBMM customed PU)and 2018 majesty. In my situation ,my point of view is almost same your observation.JP6 is bright and clear.majesty has warm and dark tone.clean tone and rhythm backing at metal, JP6 is better.but, lead tone (with delay) majesty is better.ofcourse you know both of them are awsome.majesty is very smoth.when I vend 1st or 2nd string at 12-24 flet position, majesty screams more than JP6.but it is too fat to make beautiful clean tone.I feel code notes sticks at arpeggios.your Jp15 has a maple neck, this difference is more remarkble,I think.JP6 has an elemental of fender, majesty has an elemental of Gibson.
I love both guitars.but I want to get the guitar which has JP6's clean tone (included piezo)and majesty's smoth lead tone.lol
majesty must be matched for Mesa JP2C,I think.
When I bought majesty, I suffered that I couldn't decide to buy BFR JP6 or majesty. In Japan, EBMM guitars are too much f**kin high. After all,I chose majesty because that was Jonh's new one and I already had JP6.lol I will replace illuminator dreamcather.
bytheway, if you focused to say which guitar do you like?
I'm a not native English speaker.Your talking speed and words are very kindly for me. I could understand what you said.I joined your channel follower. If you have times, I want you to upload a vid which is about sound make of TC dreamscape with majesty.I have the pedal, too.素晴らしい動画をありがとう!
To be honest I like the sound of Jp15
It's very crispy and bright too
Does JP uses both guitars personally??
Lo máximo
To me they sound close enough that I would just pick the cheaper one.
Majesty obviously has some issues, maybe low battery, i cant figure it out.
Especially lower strings, they sound way more weaker.
Besides the differences in the pups, the jp15 is clearly more resonant....
I love my JP73ai. Best guitar on the planet. (Shonktar)
seems like illuminator had a tiny more gain than the dreamcatcher hmm interesting
If you mean the neck pickups, it's the Rainmaker in the Majesty. And yes, according to the DiMarzio website, the Rainmaker has an output value of 275, while the Illuminator has 295. So basically, the Illuminator hits the preamp harder and thus, generates more gain.
JP15 is the winner for me on all levels.
I've read lots of complaints about short battery life on the Majesty, please share your experience on this.
I can't say a lot about that as I've owned the Majesty only for two months now - as of now it still holds. A common mistake though, is leaving the cable plugged in after playing which will cause leakage currents to drain the battery quicker.
@@artificialinsolence3182 exactly. I used to leave my JPX6 plugged in and it would eat up batteries. Just need to unplug and it's fine.
Don't know if you ever read this, but YES. The past month I've really had issues with short battery life. Send it in under warranty and had the electronics upgraded to V2. Apparently, on some Majesties, there's some kind of faulty electronics built in. Now, after the upgrade to new electronics I've had no problems. Here's hoping that it stays that way!
@@artificialinsolence3182 Thanks for the feedback... I ended selling up my Majesty. I simply could not trust it to go on stage. I hope yours keep fine.
15 bright, Majesty more mid bass
Yes, very much so. The combination of woods and the pickups give the JP15 a very sparkly, almost Strat-like sound.
Dude, how many JPs do you have? :)
At least two ;)
@@artificialinsolence3182 I've seen your other videos, you have at least two more. How many, which ones all together?
Personally, I like the Petrucci signature guitar.
Wait guys! Tone wood don’t make a difference! 🤣
And the winner is... Ernie ball.
Now give them your money
Jp 15 👏
