    Melt some lead and pour in... a bit messy, but with a bit of shaping with a file and after a week of practice I got the revelation that it worked for me...

    adding weight on the back will unbalance the dart..moving the center of gravity backwards.you may be able to add longer points that might balance them up a bit

    Very useful video!! Used putty to add weight to several sets I didnt play . Really happy with the final result!! Now, I have some 24gr sets that are 1 gr overweight. I want them 23gr. Any ideas on how to? Do you think if I drill them it would be the way to do it?

    • @DartsReviewChannel
      @DartsReviewChannel  Год назад

      Thanks! If the darts are too heavy the only way is to have them drilled out at the rear. Never done it myself though but shops who make custom sets do it like Custom Made Darts.

    I only have experience with the sticky putty. NEVER add it in your barrel if you want to fully get it out. I had it sticking in the shaft thread of my darts, took my hours to get it out of the barrel and still there was a tiny bit left.
    By the way, I am looking for a way to make my own inserts, then the sticky putty may be useful after all because it will be hidden away inside a cylindrical object. If I manage (i.e. make time for it) I will let you know.

    • @DartsReviewChannel
      @DartsReviewChannel  7 лет назад

      Yeah it was very messy with the cheaper stickier putty, may be fine for the fishermen but not darts

    Very good vid. will be trying to add weight to my Fallon Sherrock darts.

    Wondering where to get that scale or one similar please & thank you

    • @DartsReviewChannel
      @DartsReviewChannel  3 года назад +2

      Thanks, depends on the putty, if its not too sticky it should come out easy enough, can use a screw or drill bit to go in the centre of it, but if its a very soft sticky putty it can get a little messy. Ebay is the best place to get all you need :)

    I used putty regularly to add weight and/or to balance out a set. In my experience, most darts arent drilled deep enough for the plugs. Have you found this to be true also?

    • @DartsReviewChannel
      @DartsReviewChannel  7 лет назад +1

      Yeah some barrels are not much deeper than the stem thread its one of the reasons I put the depth drilled out on my reviews so people can see, but often with the lighter weight darts they are drilled out more.

    • @DartsReviewChannel

      I see, not many machines allow 26g for soft tip, so if your a soft tip player your going to have to get used to lighter weights really. I think some have moved up to 25g but most are in the 16 to 21 gram range.

    I bought some 23 gram darts one weight correct the other 2 weighed nearly half a gram under so I got some cheap flux cored electronics solder £1.80 I the put the light darts one at a time back on the scales and cut a small maybe 8 millimetres of solder put that on the scale also until I got it to 23 grams on the 2 light darts then rolled the solder into a ball and pushed it into the barrels then got my blow lamp held the barrel with pliers and melted the solder while keeping the barrel vertical till they cooled, magic they all weigh 23 grams now job done 😊👍

    • @waynekieft4952
      @waynekieft4952 7 лет назад +2

      Darts Review Channel don't you think most people would be well aware of that,most players would only want to change the weight slightly, probably no more than half a gram to a gram ,other wise most players would change their darts, I am trying to save people wasting their money on shit they don't need,there are other ways of doing it with bits of fishing lead if you want them up to 2 grams heavier, take it from someone who has been playing for over 40 years not someone who has a very unhealthy obsession collecting bloody darts!,

    • @DartsReviewChannel
      @DartsReviewChannel  7 лет назад +4

      I think your missing the point, and I already know about adding lead too, many people on the forum know that and we have members in their late 70 and early 80's who have been throwing over 60 years or more but they still appreciate the idea of the tungsten putty, just because you do something one way does not mean it has to be done that way all the time, new things and ideas are developed all the time so dont have a go at me as I am just reporting a way to do it, it was not my idea but many others who done it before me, but as you can see a lot have appreciated the fact I have told them as they did not know, if they want to try lead or blu tack then thats fine, the principle of it is that they can alter the weight if they need to, I am sure some will think of other ways they can change the weight. But as your so experienced then you must also know that in every model they only make so many set weights and people may just want 1g more but some people are so set on one particular weight that they wont buy the dart if its not in their weight, so this is a way they can make it suit them if they are very keen to have that dart. Also I first threw a dart over 41 years ago when I was 6 so no need to play the I have more experience than you angle because thats not the point here, there is 1000's with more experience than me and millions who play far better than me, just cause you have played longer or better does not automatically make you the god of darts, the point is tungsten putty is more dense than blu tack so it takes up less space. I just weighed half a gram of blu tack and if I squash that into the end of some barrels its unlikely I will get the stem in. Also what is unhealthy about collecting darts? I thought you were experienced? if you were then you would know that there is 1000's of collectors out there in perfectly good health, cant understand why anyone with your experience would say anything to do with darts is unhealthy, can think of far worse things to be doing.
