Personally I never played any mods back in the day, mostly because I didn't even know they existed in the first place. It's quite amazing to look back and see everything that went on without my knowledge. Classic Serious Sam 2 in particular screams early 2000s.
My favorite is Renovation because it's literally just SS2 but with more satisfying visuals, a lot of SS2 mods try to "undo" the game and personally in my opinion those are mods made by people who don't understand the appeal of the original. I know that SS2 is not a favorite fan but it's not a bad game I'll choose it any day over STFE.
I really enjoyed the Renovation mod. Made me have a much more fun SS2 experience. Also, Reptiloids actually bleed only red blood from HD onwards. Still don't know why they bled green in Classic though (they sometimes leave red blood puddles in Classic too).
I've never played any SS2 mods, but Renovation looks awesome now compared to the last time you reviewed it. I'll definitely have to give it a shot next time I feel like playing SS2.
Man, I hope renovation relly gets updated to work with the steam version, the lack of hand models on the original game always bothered me for some reason
Just a small information for Overhaul: The best way to enjoy the mod is to have: Dual Wielding OFF Sprinting ON Rocket Jumping ON SERIOUS DIFFICULTY Reason being is that Overhaul was balanced around Normal and Serious Difficulty to use single wielding with exception for Uzis, and Dual Wielding is HIGHLY experimental.
Sorry if you feel your mod was visually misrepresented, wasn't my intention. I'd suggest adding this comment to the download description (yt trailer). Thankfully, I didn't feel dual wielding affected the mod any more than the recent update did for the game. Funky weapon animations, that's all. Had fun with it.
Yes, it's not an exaggeration to say Renovation is the superior way to play SS2. Literally improves upon everything that needed improving without changing much of the original game. Makes it fit much better into the tone and style of the serious.
Overhaul looks pretty damn good. Those orcs replacing the beheaded army was a kill for me so seeing them and many other classic enemy remade in the Serious Engine 2 looks proper. But I will have to go with Renovations. Does everything Overhaul could do but better. Especially changing that annoying powder like gore splatter for actual blood
Has there ever been a mod that adds the sniper, chainsaw, and flamethrower to First Encounter HD or Classic? I assume it must have been done at some point. I kinda want to see how broken the balance would be if those weapons were in my arsenal.
How do you even download these mods? i'd really like to try renovations but can't find out how to make it work. I've got the folder, now i need to extract it somewhere but got no idea how to do that.
Great video! I personally love Serious Sam 2 but not really for it's combat including bad enemy design and awful uzi but for the different worlds and locations. The xbox version is far worse than the Classic xbox game. I recently finished Serious Sam Collection First Encounter (2nd Encounter starts directly in the xbox game) and the cutscenes made for kids are so bad. The textures and finally 3D audio are good and I prefer that over the og Serious Sam. I can only enjoy SS1st and SS2nd on a CRT @800x600 and 1024x768 for the way the game renders LODs. For the most time of my life I preferred 1st Encounter. It is great. 2nd Encounter always left a sour taste when traps appeared. Starting with the medieval world I really started to hate the game. My goal was to finish the SS games on hard. Then I started HD and was like "No way!". I noticed playing the classic games on hard multiplayer is easier than singleplayer because I found the enemy multiplier to be weaker. In HD singleplayer I could not get far without getting slapped. I remember playing HD first on 360 and most lobbies I tried were on the hardest difficulty and a complete wall of enemies. Serious Sam really lacks the 360 degrees of enemy spawns but also makes many random spawns issues disappear. SS3 in the first levels is bland. SS4 just has no thought put into the game. I died so many times for being forced to stay in the middle of areas but I prefer Wall-hugging so that kamikazes spawned in me and I died.
Was the xbox version really that flat and ugly?... It was my first SS game and I loved it, but I didn't play it on xbox for more than 10 years. I'm shocked now

Crazy to see you at 100K man. I remember the early days of this channel fondly. Great job man
This guy's humor is paying off.
Out of all the mods you've shown, the only one that looks interesting to me is Serious Sam 2 Renovation.
are you gonna look into SS syberian mayhem?
My personal favourite mod is the one where he's chopping vegetables.
I really enjoyed the Renovation mod. Made me have a much more fun SS2 experience.

Classic model throws me off. Would've been cool though, considering how many different blood types there are in Serious Sam 2 anyways.
@@FrameRater how ı can download this mod? (serious sam classic II)

Hearing you say something like that is like hearing Barney the dinosaur swear.
I seriously can't get enough of these videos.
The Over The Hedge joke caught me off guard xD
You know a video's gonna be good when He's starts referencing Decino :D
I loved SS2, I hate how people assume we all hate it.
That Over The Hedge edit was pretty funny
Decino would probably a hurt a child if it looked like a pain elemental, honestly.
classic serious sam 2 is like from the universe where serious sam 2 was a major hit of croteam (which i wish it was)
You hitting 100k is a *crime.* You should have way more than that!
Nice decino reference :D

@@FrameRater It's fine, just saying what the best way to play the mod is

Serious Sam 2 Xbox mod has the same energy as the Sonic 2 Good Edition romhack

10:31 Don't forget that it added manually reloading before the SS2 update.
It did?
@@FrameRater As far as I remember it did, or one of the other overhauls certaintly did.
Ss2 renovation is now working with Steam
So glad to see you continuing to make Sam related content :)
My favourite mod its Serious Sam Forever. Oh did you know, i little help sashex to made him mode little more better?)
