Seems like I have to explain the Statue getting destroyed by itself in Highlander boss fight. It's not a bug. There's a touchfield that will destroy the statue if you try to hide behind it during a fight. Croteam was evil. The same can be seen if you try to hide behind big guard towers while waiting for the pyramid to open on The Great Pyramid.

I used to describe TSE as "it's a level pack that includes the game engine so you don't need TFE to play it." In the day the level packs, though generally with fewer than the main game, were still recently common.

I got the big box version of Serious Sam: The First Encounter at a local Big Lots for $5 back in 2001.
Just wanna say I really enjoy your videos. I'm not really huge on 90% of gaming RUclips content, but yours is an exception. Love the presentation, and you don't try too hard like most. That's all I wanted to say lol. Keep up the good work! :D

21:17 That's probably the headset, various headsets have different fovs, the Quest is on the narrower end of the scale in terms of fov. There are extra face pads you can grab which, well, make it a lot more comfortable for a start, and increase the fov due to the change in where your eyes are in relation to the optics

I really wish I still had my Frogger 2 bigbox, but my mother insisted on getting rid of the packaging for pretty much all our computer games during my childhood, instead opting to keep the disks in some CD-holder book thing.
Back in the day, I noticed several games that had budget re-released called "Special Edition" that wanted some of the game at a cheaper price point. I remember seeing these types of games sell for anywhere from 9.99 to 19.99 at various stores that sold games.
There are *seriously* too many re-releases of Sam. But hey, the more ways to experience it the better!
Wonder if the special edition was on CD vs DVD in some weird attempt to cheap out on DVD license

love seeing the different versions of the same game which you just don't see anymore, I learned about this stuff with the force unleashed for PS2, I was really into looking at the game but didn't have a 360 so I got it on PS2 off ebay and it was a fairly different game, personally after playing those 2 versions I like PS2 more, you miss out on some levels from 360 but on 360 the jedi temple is DLC and its just part of the PS2 version and its a good couple levels.

I like both the classic and the HD versions, each have subtle changes that benefit either classics or HD

I just want HD remakes of Frogger (1997) and Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge where Frogger looks exactly like that in both titles.

What's your opinion on the update Croteam released for Serious Sam 2? It gave the option to dual-wield all weapons barring Serious Bomb, sprint around and even multiply enemy numbers. It's a very different game feel from the normal Serious Sam 2 experience.

15:49 Your assumption could still be accurate but I thought it's worth pointing out that MS used to mandate 'how to play' section for all XBLA games, - no matter how basic or redundant some of them turned out to be. I would guess possibly due to digital games not having traditional manuals which were still a somewhat expected component of a game at the time. In any case it was similar to how the 360 console games mandated achievements and how competitive leaderboards had to be split into at least 2 categories; player and ranked, - with the latter enforcing the trademarked 'trueskill' game matching system. These seem to be few of the more obvious _requirements_ that had to be met to be in order to get published on 360.

I picked up the hd collection on ps4 last year and I’ve had a blast the only thing that sucks is that it doesn’t have the ps2 one which was the first serious Sam game I ever played

I feel like the Xbox port is the best in terms of nailing the look and having its own character. I should really hunt down a copy, meantime i believe i still have the SamXbox mod for Fusion installed.

Serious sam revolution was left in early access for ages with the developer working on other things basically (I could see from their social medias etc they publicised). I wrote to Croteam's PR dude on steam to express my displeasure and showed examples. Within a short peroid of time Croteam took over then finished and released the full game. I thought that was damn cool of them to do from one person complaining about it being essentially abandonded at the time.

I wish Serious Sam Fusion on Switch and PS had Gyro, playing Serious Sam on my Steam Deck has made me used to having it.
I've bought Serious sam tfe (Original) From steam yesterday , and it comes with Serious sam Revolution
I hate the weird physics/collisions some enemies have in the Fusion versions of HD, to the point that I can't play these versions. Kleers and frogs and bulls in FE, and SE has additional problems with at least the kukurbitos and the demon reptiloids. It's mostly stuff like them "hitting" you when they really shouldn't have been able to, sometimes from a greater distance or from a weird angle or without an animation. I haven't tried fusion's version of SS3, but at this point I never have it installed anymore.
Also, SS Revolution has a weird aspect ratio and FOV-related glitch that causes models like trees to start vanishing like half the distance to the player that they normally would. I only really notice it in some custom levels and Palenque, but it also makes me never want to play that release, lol.
Serious Sam 2 was also released on Original Xbox. I guess it's been released twice.
I'm just sitting here hoping for a SS the Third Encounter with the same aesthetics and gameplay as the first two...
If the VR ports are nauseous for you The Last Hope is more comfortable, but then a spin-off that play differently and I presume you've already gone through it 😅

I grew up with the xbox version and think it works the best for the parody type game it is. I sorely missed the cytscenes in the steam hd version

I prefer Fusion myself, but I’ve been playing Revolution often nowadays with the assortment of mods. Recently, I’ve been playing the Rome maps of the Next Encounter.

Hey, just a bit pedantic, but a note after aprox 20 years playing this game and never noticing up to literally yesterday: You can reload your colts in second encounter with alt on PC. Because you can literally get better weapons from secrets before finding enemies, never noticed, but yeah. You actually can reload those.
Second Encounter, yes. Second Encounter =/= Serious Sam 2 though.
Croteam released a huge patch for SS2 recently on Steam so if you own it there, the ability to reload now exists.
@@FrameRater I own the GOG release, but to be fair I am a bit confused with the releases. For me it has always been SS1 starting in Egypt, SS2, starting in Chiapas. But yeah, you are right.

That's just an artifact from aggressive occlusion culling. The actual scene should be loaded into memory. The game engine shouldn't draw more polygons than necessary.

They probably tested the Palm CD with a CD cloner application to make sure there isn't disc rot or surface condition making the disc unreadable, which would indeed make it "tested", just not tested on the target platform.
