Stephen!!! Wow........I am beaming from ear to ear. This is excellent. Thank you so much!
At the theater, when Shelob made her appearance, the man sitting in front of me Screamed, climbed up his seat, backward and almost ended up in my lap!
Will never forget that.🕷☺️
Now that's some powerful arachnophobia.
I hope he was wearing his brown pants that day
@@zarasbazaar never underestimate arachnophobia!
Lol
Arachnophobia for you. They put the no into arachNOphobia.
I hate spiders myself, so for that part I just looked down.
Hope the poor guy didn't hurt you or himself doing that. He probably hated a particular scene from Desolation of Smaug.
This clip is the absolute most joy I've experienced since the end of lockdown.
Thank you Stephen, Billy, Dominic and Peter, for the good cheer you have brought us all.
The only thing more powerful than the one ring.
Sweet! That was very kind of Dominic to share his hobbit ears with Stephen.
0:56 This moment especially gives Merry and Pippin vibes ♥︎
From one nerd to another.. what a great interview. This makes my heart so darn happy!!
Hello! How are you doing?Hope you are fine and staying safe??
Has anyone checked on Stephen? Is he ok after missing that question?
“Hush!” said Pippin in a terrible voice to all Bilbo's friends-and-relations, and “Hush!” they said hastily to each other all down the line, until it got to the last one of all. And the last and smallest friend-and-relation was so upset to find that the whole Expotition was saying “Hush!” to him, that he buried himself head downwards in a crack in the ground, and stayed there for two days until the danger was over, and then went home in a great hurry, and lived quietly with his Aunt ever-afterwards. His name was Stephen Colbert.
Right? That's a shocker!
He's rereading the entirety of Tolkien's works so that this never happens again.
@@PhantomNull13 I think he reads them regularly anyway. I don't know if he still does this (and we'll have to ask Evie to confirm), but he once said he listens to the books in audio form as he goes to bed.
@@EstebanJulianRamos oh, of course. But there's a Mordor sized difference between reading them for fun and reading them to learn everything there is to learn.
Billy Boyd deserves more credit for his role as Barrett Bonden in the wildly underrated masterpiece that is "Master and Commander: the Far Side of the World"
These two together are fucking incredible. Can't wait to check out their podcast
The entire cast is incredible in that film. You honestly just feel like you're watching found footage of a British Royal Naval ship in the 1800's.
@@gigantisaurusrex6647 absolutely correct. I will say though as a rabid fan of the Master and Commander books, I was surprised to see Billy cast as Barrett Bonden, he doesn't really physically fit the description from the books, and I was so used to seeing him so recently as Pippin that it was a little jarring, but he nailed it, as did everyone in the movie.
If you haven't watched or read Master and Commander, do yourself a favor.
Absolutely. He and the actor that played Blakney were fantastic.
@@CS-er3ib there are so many actors in that movie I hadn't seen before and haven't seen since, which is a shame. Everyone in that movie was 1000% perfect. I can't believe I haven't seen Mr Mowett or Captain Pullings in anything since.
@@cleverusername9369 James D'arcy has had some pretty decent roles but for the most part you're right.
From the LOTR wiki: "The name derndingle means 'hidden hollow' in an ancient language of Men in Middle-earth."
I had to look up “Derndingle.” I didn’t know it. 😐🤔
i got the other 2 but not this
It sounds like slang for something naughty.
@@Synathidy it definitely sounds like something you shouldn't search on your work computer. I think I'm gonna get an email from IT now...
In old Entish it has many names. Longer too!
2:22 “…I’m familiar…” **brushes hair** Stephen’s delivery is always killer.
Had I been in the studio with this interview with these two guys, I probably would have teared up a bit at seeing them. These movies mean a lot to me.
This has to be one of my favorite episodes with guests in a long, long time
At the end it looks like the gift brought him to tears and I'm here for all of it.
I'm so glad they're actually real friends
Dom and Billy are simply adorable. They have great chemistry as friends and actors. I can imagine them playing mischievous twins somewhere in a film.
There is so much joy on both sides of this interview! An incredible segment.
I totally thought it would be the ring, but Steven was overjoyed with the ears. How adorable!!
I love them so much. Pippin has such a warm smile. And Merry looks dashing.
Ungoliant is actually an incredible story. A story of an abused creature that gets power but doesn't know how to control it. And as such ends up killing herself from the same power. She eats and she eats and she eats. Nothing will satiate her. And in the end, we don't know for sure, but some believe she ate herself as the last option. She eats the light of Arda, she is the one who truly destroys the trees. And morgoth is betrayed since he intended to betray her anyway
The way you tell it, it sounds like a superhero origin story!
@@lenkacfk7155 She is such a badass she would've defeated Morgoth himself if it wasnt for the pesky balrogs!
@@anna-zs3oy , is that in the Silmarillion, or one of the other books of tales? It may be time for a grownup-reread...
Where is that story ?? I don’t recall it
Gary Johnston:
OK, a limosine that can fly. Now I have seen everything.
Spottswoode:
Really? Have you seen a man eat his own head?
Gary Johnston:
No.
Spottswoode:
So then, you haven't seen everything.
Ungoliant:
Hold my beer.
It's incredible how deeply involved are people from all over the world into the story which considered by others as a simple fairy tale.
Because these are the stories that stay with you. That mean something. Even when you're too small to understand why
They still make me happy and I gladly acknowledge that I am an LoTR nerd. They have such fun together. And Stephen is just at his best when he is geeking out on all things Tolkien.
Hello Melanie! How are you doing?Hope you are fine and staying safe??
Stephen’s face when he won that epic prize lol! Merry handing him Merry’s ears?? Priceless
Stephen is truly the King Of LOTR Geekdom!
The genuine joy of Stephen when he gets the ears is…wonderful!
I love how it’s 20 years after Fellowship came out and we’re all just as into it
When he held them up to his ears 🥰 adorable.
The joyful nerdy-ness of Stephen. ❤❤❤
These guys were a lot of fun. Great chemistry with Stephen.
Dominic and Billy are like those two inseparable guys you wish you had in your friend group.
This It’s such a fun segment to watch. I watched it so many times. When Billy says the prize Is incredible Steven, I crack up every time
Ive seen Billy Boyd live twice during an orchestra event of LOTR music and he is so great! Always loved the whole crew of the movies as much as the movies themselves.
Yes I remember that from LOTRO. Bullroarer Took invented golf by hitting the head off a goblin king into a rabbit hole.
Me, too!
At the battle of Greenfields
And the goblin's name was Golfingen, hence the name "Golf."
@@Corn_Pone_Flicks Golfimbul
the only hobbit before merry and pippin large enough to ride a fully grown horse!
Me: "Man, they've gotten sooo old!"
*looks in the mirror*:😞
That hits hard 😭
I can see them in a nursing home someday just horsing around like Merry & Pippin do 😆
Sean Bean made it through this video without dying.
Should've asked him, "What happened to the Entwives?" 😄
"So comes snow after fire, and even Stephen Colbert has his endings." 😂
I love how they hinted at a Ring but it was prosthetic ears instead.
I mean, they joked about it, but I don't think any of them thought it might be a ring, that would be too boring
I was half expecting him to disappear when he reached into his pocket.
I was expecting one of the questions to be "what have I got in my pocket" though
@@imnotmike Me too! Through the magic of TV (pre-recorded of course).
Billy Boyd is so freakin' adorable!!
Their friendship is my favorite thing in this whole world.
I think you could see actual appreciation and thanks when receiving that gift. Very nice
