I dated a girl who was mad she was passed over for a promotion for a guy. She had 8yrs experience and was an asst mngr, the guy had 16yrs and was a mngr of a diff dept in the same company. She didn’t see it
I am yet to be passed over for a position and thought to myself 'you know what they are better than me and deserve the position more than I.' I think the best I've probably come up with is 'this person is certainly deserving of this position but is no way close to be as amazing as I would be in said position.'
I had a similar experience few days ago..we both got a raise that was the same amount..she was upset I got the same.shes been there for like a year and a half and I’ve been there a year and 3 months.her view was that she was there longer BUT she has never worked more than 1 day a week and refused to work during the pandemic. I have always worked a minimum of 5 days and during pandemic it’s closer to 7.imo she shouldn’t even get close to my raise..I explained to her that yea you have been here longer BUT I have worked here 5 times as much so for it to be equal you would have had to started with the company 5 years ago,she still didn’t understand and still feels she got cheated..Nm the fact that because I actually want to work my job is wayyy more important because I oversee multiple depts.she is still at entry level because she only wants 1 day per week and chooses Sunday because it’s easier
@TR MJ ehh i feel for the people who took massive amounts of debt for a Masters degree that they were told by all those they trust would set them for life, only to find out they are screwed and it did not help them at all. We need a better system.
@Esmour Mayne That's good advice and what they do in many European countries. However, how can you expect when everyone you trust says crap degree = massive success not to listen to those people-family, educators, peers etc. Fortunately, I liked computers and math so I had no issues, so I picked one of the best majors, took a part-time union job while in college but most people are not that lucky.
My female friend got me my first job at a deli. She had worked there for a couple months already. She was making 8$/h and they started me with 9 for the same deli member position. So i told her and she was gonna make a complaint the very next day until we both showed up to work and she went to her register and the manager sent me in the back to unload boxes of meat for 8 hours a day in a 34 degree warehouse. Thats not the same job.
So did you work at a deli or at a warehouse for that deli? Two different jobs so of course different pay. That isn't what the gender wage gap is about. It is about working the exact same job but men getting paid slightly higher and getting higher raises than women. I'm sure you already knew that though so your example was pointless.
@@issaciams I think he actually tried to tell that he thought they were doing the same job until he went into warehouse while she was at the register and then he realized they weren't the same
@@issaciams my point was that although the two jobs had the same title, they were different jobs. We were both assigned to do what we were best at. And if you look at the many examples of gender pay gap youll find similar differences in the jobs those men and those women are performing. There was that actress that got paid a few thousand $ to reshoot a scene and mark walberg was paid 1.5 million to reshoot the same scene. And she almost sued for that. However all she had to do was reshoot one line and he had to do stunts , make up , costumes, dialogue.. i havent encountered a situation where a man and a woman get paid differently for exactly the same task. Maybe the same job title but not the same job.
@@issaciams that only proves it is real in HOLLYWOOD. Not the real world. Then these Hollywood assholes try to excuse their shitty behavior by telling everyone "oh this is common everywhere, don't look at us, look at tech look at wall street etc, oh look shiny explosion with a bikini model somewhere". Same with #metoo. Hollywood was defending Winstien until it became too big, then pointed to "all men" instead of their boss. Hollywood has the biggest mic and they use it to distract from their own wrongdoing.
It's not a myth, I work in a company in which the women make less money for the exact same work. Rogan and company (Peterson) are overgeneralizing, yes by far on average women choose less paying but more fulfilling jobs while men take the high risk, high paying jobs. However, the wage gap is still real in the fields in which men or women are paid more.
Well shit, he shouldn't be getting anything at this rate. Tesla failing and people are getting wise to his rapidly changing pr to keep himself relevant. Class action lawsuit by his employees, threatening them for unionizing, ya. Fraud's have their time, that's why they become frauds
thereisnospectrum you're crazy if you believe that hogwash that Tesla is failing. The only reason their stock is dropping is because of their reluctance to open new plants. The are backordered several months dude, Elon is doing more than fine lol
Razear agreed. Don't complain about a gap if your not taking advantage of the opportunity available. Men go into a filed that pays more to support the family. Most women take jobs not careers or work in fields that pay less. Not a single mans fault for women not wanting those same high paying careers ...
Frankie Lucky it’s that way for a lot of people unfortunately :/ people need to just get educated and work to change actual problems instead of seeing a fake problem and just complaining about it
Heiko Rudi thats so sick bro I was just saying this video was made two years ago and should clear up conversations about the wage gap but it still hasn’t
Once dated a woman who said the government should make up the difference in our salaries. She teaches dance at a university as adjunct faculty. I lead engineering research projects at a large lab. I tried to argue that the market values what I do at a higher rate than what she does. She argued that her addition to society is just as valuable as mine. We just had to stop talking about it.
Lol I feel you man. I had a heated discussion with one of my female friends about why men's soccer is more popular than women's soccer (hence why they get paid more even though they aren't as successful) and she just could not get her head around the fact that more people want to watch men's soccer; thus they add more value to the market. To maintain that friendship we also had to stop talking about it 😂
After watching my son get a divorce and now he only gets to see his son every other weekend while she got the house and everything in it while he still has to pay on the house and pay her child support, no one can convince me women have it bad. My son's life is his son yet she uses their son as a tool to play games against my son. Sad thing is, she doesn't even want a kid. She is always passing my grandson off on everyone else but my son wants him all the time.
One of the many things I've told my exes and current gf. Men should not be the one to fight the cancer that is third wave feminism. It's women. Because it's all fun and games and you think you are winning or different, until it happens to your son. As a man I fight against things like normalization of swipe dating because it's all fun and games till my daughter is swiped. When I mention this concept, caring about something not because it affects you but because it can affect your offspring of the opposite gender, it's like I'm a person from Mars.
@@MrQuestiel I was never a feminist. I never kept my kids away from their dad. He never had to pay child support either. Their dad got them half the week or by kid's choice so he was providing a house like I was so why did he have to give me money? It was more important for my kids to have their dad than me getting a check.
@@lisa-shitsakwibjnie That's great. I didn't say you were. I said women have to "actively" fight it. Example to demonstrate: women do this for men. If a man says I'm not a rapist but I don't actively fight rape, you are part of the problem. We accept it. It's fair. If I don't do anything about it, my daughter could get raped by someone else. But then when men call out something like feminism that women should "actively" fight, women are content to say "but I am not like that". Missy, it's great that you aren't but your son isn't going to date/ marry you. Just saying I was not a feminist does not suddenly make the world better for your son just like me claiming to not be a rapist does jack nothing for my daughter. I hope you see the standard being asked here. Don't just say "but I am not like that" or "not all women are like that". It does absolutely jack nothing for the problem. Now you may already be active in the fight. Good. Say that instead.
You knew all of this before your son got burnt. You only speak up now because it hit home!! Typical female. No sense of agency to support there narrative until it comes back to bite them!
Proud American that’s certainly possible. I think part of it is this 2 party system is as polarizing, or even more polarizing than professional sports teams, and people develop some serious confirmation bias to protect their beliefs and in turn, part of their identity
It is. This isnt a diss and tbh I know only like 1 transgender person and were not even friends. But it is a social construct in the same way that your name is what it is for you.
It doesn't matter. I mean gender is just a title. Sex is your chromosomes and those can never be changed no matter what. You're born a Male, your male and female, your female. But it's just that some people dont want to take in what those typically are attributed to like boy and girl because with those titles comes expectations that some dont necessarily want to follow. You dont have to except somebody's gender tho, the same way it someone asked you to call them Mike instead of Michael, you could say no. Its just a respect thing at that point.
@@loganayers7872 they aren't. I can refer you to some textbooks but if you take any entry level sociology course you will discover that, "Sex refers to the physical or physiological difference between males and females, including both primary sex characteristics (the reproductive system) and secondary characteristics such as height and masculinity. Gender is a person's deeply held internal perception of or her gender. A persons sex, as determined by his or her biology, does not always correspond with his or her gender. Therefore, the terms sex and gender are not interchangeable (Rice University).
well modern feminism anyway ( whats referred to as third wave feminism) feminism originally was about trying to stop women being second class citizens which is no longer the case
feminism right now isn’t as centered on the workplace as it used to be, now its more social equality (receiving respect, planned parenthood, trans rights, all that stuff) which i respect
Some femenists will say construction workers should make the same as a secretary. Thats where the real wage gap is. Of course if I'm a construction worker and i could make the same money sitting at a desk all day without a college degree I'm switching careers.
I thought the belief was that women work more in the office so that more people will apply for a job seeing a lot of hot women and stuff, although I’m not sure how the wage gap works
-Bryan- A construction worker does make the same as a secretary. Sometimes less if you move up to executive assistant and take on more and more responsibilities.
-Men are on average more willing to do overtime, cover shifts and be flexible with thier time when it comes to their work, women are on average more likely to prioritize time with family and friends. -Men are more willing to move out of town to get the same job but with higher pay, where women are more likely to pick a job close to their social group even if it pays less. -Men are more fierce at salary negotiations because of the two above points. Working longer and harder at thougher jobs, and when you say you will quit and find something better and actually mean it, that will get you a raise. Women are on average less likely to demand a raise because of the two above points, not risk losing your job close to family and friends is for most considered a priority over getting paid more, and most women belive that asking for more money will put their job at risk. -Men are on average more career driven then women. Women more likely to aim for a position that allows for more free time in order to eventually get children and raise a family. Men are career driven in order to attract these women. Now you might think a lot of what i just wrote is sexist, and know some anecdotal stories where these are certainly not the cases, but for the average population they are all true, and the so called "wage-gap" is derived from an average.
Very good points, but there are still other social barriers and subconscious decision making that leads to a wage gap. It might not be as defined of a gap as they are claiming. But unfortunately, a gap does in fact exist, however minor it may be. Oppression exists in all forms of society. It definitely exists in the workplace
part of it is liability too. a woman can be on maternity leave for a year and still get paid. so companies are less motivated to hire 20-40 year old women
@@alex-279 Any proof for your assertion there Alex? Because me thinks you probaly have no legitimate reason to believe that outside of feeling sorry for complaining Women.
@@alex-279 what other social barriers? Name some. Also the vague ideas of "subconscious" "opressions" and such. There is a major problem with that, 1. Most people will agree that opression excist. 2. We should do something about it. 3. But, upon investigation, the "opression" is nonexistent or is ussually the outcome of specific decisions made by a specific "opressed" group. 4. In conclusion, if you cant name the "opression" you cant solve the issue. Please identify the opression. 5. If you cant, it probably does not excist.
My thoughts exactly. And they always try to argue that employers are sexist against women because they are out there to not hire women. Guess what, companies will always try to hire the cheapest available worker. Just look at the late 1800s and early 1900s. America used to treat immigrants like shit, yet companies still hired immigrants because they would work for dirt cheap. That alone, should immediately debunk their argument.
Well to be realistic some self-awere bussines people do that, they employ and prefer more women, one ceo was talking about it, most women at her company never ask for raise, hardly take any days off (when so, mostly because of child illnes), they dont complain and dont ussualy quit job compare to men who always ask for raise and are more ambitios so they often leave for better paying job... So yeah some ceo do take adventage of differences in characterstics between genders
No sane bil CEO would pay personal secretary that much. His secretary holds power too, you do not want that secretary to forget some important info do you? Or leak info to competitors?
Q- Do they have the same education? Same experience? Have they worked for the company for the same amount of time? Do they have the exact same responsibilities? Do they work the same shifts? Are they producing the same amount? If those are all yes - and they earn a different salary - sue them for sure. Otherwise - I don't understand your argument.
"The wage gap is simply the average earnings of men and women working full time. It does not count for different job positions, hours worked or different jobs. It has nothing to do with the same job. It has nothing to do with discrimination"- We all need a shoe0nhead wage gap button
what about the uswnt vs the usmnt the men earn much more and are losers and the women are pretty much number 1 for 30 years and earn way less doing the same job
It is not the same job, The women have much easier competition. My argument for that has always been this. Let the men play against the women. If the women win they have to swap salaries. a tie then they split the salaries, if the men win it says the same. It will never happen because it's not politically correct or whatever, but that's the fairest way possible to determine who should get paid more.
they put the same time and same prep in and usually the women play more games it has nothing to do with women vs men only a douch would say let them play each other men are physically superior but they are doing the same JOB and at least are women can make a world cup IT IS THE SAME JOB
My girlfriend makes almost double what I do... But she went to school, is much more professional than I am, works longer hours and has a lot of experience in her occupation -whereas, I only have a "job", little experience because I keep changing jobs and I work less hours and didn't go to school...(I am also limited in what I can do due to disability -i still work 40 hours weekly though) There's tonnes of women with similar stories like mine, minus the disability... And this is exactly the kind of crap that they're arguing is unfair. What I think is this: my girlfriend deserves her high pay, benefits and crazy amount of vacation time because she's earned it and I deserve the shit pay, no benefits and no vacation time because I've also earned that too. You get what you deserve. If you feel like you deserve more, go and get that. Don't stay where you are. -that's why I'm getting my dumbass educated so I can make more money.
Some jobs are valued more than others. I dated a woman that was a college counselor at a high school. She made 15k more than I did. I was an associate attorney working in a large city at a prominent personal injury firm. She was more valuable to her job than I was.
It helps to not call it "the wage gap" and start calling it, "an earnings gap." THIS is what it is. Men _earn_ more than do women. If we're talking about the same work, men make the same, or very, very close, as do women.
In my economy class this year we talked about the wage gap. My theacher showed us some graphics that represented the difference in the amount of money men and women make, without saying if it was in the same job or an average of all the jobs, although she tried to persuade the class it was from the same job. I tried to argue with her and the other feminazis in my classe, but they wouldn't let me finish my argument about the different choices men and women make throughout their lives, because I was being sexist. After a while I was starting to get mad and so, I asked the question: " if a woman earns 77 cents for a dollar each men makes, why don't businesses only hire women?". My teacher was like "fuck, this kid is wasted" and all the feminazis were saying I couldn't say that because that was a discriminatory question because I had to believe that women can do the same things that men do. My teacher got so mad at me she didn't talk to me the rest of the class.
He's not even super intelligent. In some aspects, sure (ie. He knows a lot about fighting). But he just loves learning and retains a fair bit of information. He couldn't be an astrophysicist or anything, but he is smart. He is definitely one of the most reasonable voice though, for sure
Well not really, he isn't stupid that's for sure but almost everything he knows were all trickled down by the most intelligent people So he is the jack of all trades, but ace of none (except MMA)
Which is one reason why it's stupid to go after Google, Microsoft, Intel, etc... for "lack of gender diversity". It's a supply side issue, assuming it's an actual issue at all.
I haven't looked into the research myself, but I've been told that the "wage gap" is actually for the same job, not across all jobs. I've also heard that the gap is actually due to men working longer hours and taking more risks (e.g. asking for a promotion, changing jobs to get higher pay, etc).
I'm in college and I notice every guy pick a job that going to pay well, while females look for jobs they would enjoy even if it doesn't pay good. Guys are force to find something that going to pay the bills plus a family while female are allow to pick jobs that doesn't pay well but make them happy
bob berry the women are geniuses. They pick low wage careers that are fulfilling while finding a man to marry who will subsidize them. And guess what? They can then get a divorce and the guy has to keep subsidizing them. It's an amazing system.
@@Earthling108 Well, I am from Italy and I can assure you that here many of those women who happen to be beautiful marry wealthy man that they can barely stand just because his money. And want the house in case of divorce.
As a 21 year old, married kid house and 2 cars, it is absolutely true that you get stuck. It happens so fast and so easily. I have 2 or 3 friends that i get to see if im not busy maybe get to see them twice a month. We usually just go over to each others house cause none of us can afford to go out
Watch jordan petersons video on this. He talks about how men do more dangerous jobs do almost all the outdoor work and construction work. This is part of the reason men make more.
There is one argument being missed and one situation I have been in previously myself, I went for a job with a basic salary of £20k and negotiated up to £25k however a female counter part who had just as much experience and was doing the EXACT same job didn’t only months later did we discussed wages and she understandably wasn’t too happy but got a matched salary going forward. Men statistically are more likely to negotiate a higher salary, that is another argument, but for the most part I agree. Also really surprisingly helpful heading Ari speaking regarding mental health later in the episode 👌🏽
That's true, but the question is then: should it be that way? It seems unfair that some people with the same qualifications would get paid less because they don't arguee as much. Maybe we should pay people according to their work and qualifications and not on their negotative skill
@@AiguilleVoodoo having qualifications doesnt mean youll be as good at a job as someone else with the same qualifications. In a lot of jobs, you being able to calmly discuss and reason your way into a higher salary shows that you have more skill in your job than someone who cant
AiguilleVoodoo I’d argue that some people take initiative where others don’t. Just as some people are more critical to the job than others because of of their other skills like language, leadership, people skills, etc.
Joe Mama it’s also illegal to sell drugs, commit fraud, and many other things. Just because it’s illegal doesn’t mean it doesn’t still happen. I think the wage gap, at least the common reasons for why people think it exists, is false, but saying something is illegal therefore it doesn’t happen is also not true.
@Joe Mama I'm not refuting that the wage gap isn't real. It comes down to the stuff he was talking about, such as men typically go into higher paying fields and, at least in the past, were more willing to put in 60-80 hour work weeks at one job to show they're hard working. There's also factors like men are typically more willing to move to have a higher paying job and are more likely to barter for higher wages when they get hired. Those are the factors that determine the $1:$0.76 ratio, and that ratio comes from taking average male salary to average male salary, and doesn't account for those other factors. My point was that just because something is illegal doesn't mean it doesn't happen, and it's also really difficult to prove that a wage discrepancy between Male worker A and Female worker B is purely because of gender, and not because of something like the man fighting for a higher starting salary. That was my point. Not arguing that the wage gap exists, just saying that if something is illegal that doesn't mean it doesn't happen, you just can't be as blatant about it.
Yep NYT did a study in 2010 expecting to prove the opposite and then proved themselves wrong. The study was conducted in the larges cities in the United States. Granted it wasn’t EVERYWHERE but it was a sample of the largest cities. Women get hired more often, treated better, and paid more. Young men are expendable fodder
Let's for a second assume that the 75/100 is correct. That means that a company would be paying an actual price for being sexist. That's the way it's supposed to work. They get penalized for not being diverse and wanting women in the workplace.
when controlled for all indentifiable factors its like 98/100 but these companies are technically paying for being sexist still. 2% on massive scales is a lot, just not as much as 25 or 20%.
I know I make more than my female coworkers for one simple reason.. while in the 4years I've been here they've done nothing but complain about the pay, I've gone and asked for raises atleast 3x... ive told them this.. and they still refuse to try it themselves.
You want to make as much money as the other people doing the same job as you? Then do it as well as they do and put in the same hours they do. Period. A few years back my gf at the time was annoyed that I made significantly more than she did (we were both in sales for the same company). Then I let her in on a secret; I worked an average of 15 hours more than she did every week at the office, took less breaks at work and spent time working at home on the accounts I managed. I was working roughly 65 hours a week between being at the office, at meetings or at home. She was working like 35 to 40 hours a week. Gee, I wonder why I made more...
its easier for women to get jobs and get paid hire and better benefits in my experience, i work for a bank that had WOMEN only program. wtf is that, i never had any help in my career
Rock Ade my work has an entire division devoted to promoting women in the workplace, which just seems sexist to me, AND just imagine the shitstorm that would come if I asked them why.
I just got ostracized in my sociology class because I made the argument that some woman choose to make less. i.e, working a first shift position that pays less for better hours. Woman couldn't handle the thought of woman choosing to make less. Lol
I completely agree with that. You can absolutely value friends over money and all that great stuff, work-life balance, etc. Just never complain how someone else is making more than you if you didn't' put in the work, or chose to do something more (non-monetarily) rewarding.
I feel like the entire wage gap argument is really focusing on the wrong part. Instead of focusing on "women make less than men" we should really be looking at what jobs men and women go to and what the actual reasons are for that.
So the woman who works next to me makes more than I do. We do the exact same job. I help her with issues more than she helps me and she makes more than I do.
I've never heard that argument before about how employers, in an effort to save on overhead, would logically want to hire the exact same worker for $0.79 on the dollar. That's such a good point!
Thank you for this video, im 18 and was going to college studying business because my dad pressured me to but all I want to do is learn about music and how to make beats and baselines etc, well this video motivated me and I'm starting a course in level 1 music in April so thank you
Totally agree with this. Where I work we are constantly given opportunities for overtime and the majority of people who go for it are the men. Of course they're making more than me!
I want to see Joe Rogan baby John Oliver on his podcast regarding their differences in options portrayed in their respective programs. Two smart guys can only lead to smart answers/debates
Right out of high school, four years ago, I got a job at a car wash. I was an interior detailer and I had worked my ass off to build strong customer service skills and a very fine attention to the detail that my job was. I mad multiple points to pursue every opportunity I had to become a manager and make more money, as I was working to put myself through college. Two years passed and I remained unprompted and I saw numerous high school girls get hired on as supervisors, customer service reps and team leads because they're pretty face and sweet demeanor was more valuable to them than someone who can speak on behalf of a company that they had worked for two years for and knew the answers to any question a customer could have. Tell me how THAT doesn't squash this debate? In almost any work environment, a woman can get hired for something strictly for this reason over a man. There millions of jobs in America that uneducated women have that a man could never have with no college degree or pertinent experience.
What do the numbers look like when you control for doing the same job? My impression was that there was still some gap when you looked at the same jobs in the same industry for men and women. The other thing was women being discouraged from pursuing certain fields early on (ie being told they're not good at math) or facing more discrimination/harassment in certain workplaces (like stock brokers). Not to say I don't think there are innate differences too. A great book I read was "The Female Brain" (written by a female neuroscientist) and it found that women often didn't go as far in technical fields because they valued things like family and social relationships more. Men just had a greater tendency to isolate themselves and work on some crazy problems. Not to say one is better or worse, we're just different.
Interesting that I stumbled onto this video. I had a conversation with a family friend yesterday about work. She turned down a promotion and 25% increase in salary because she “didn’t want to deal with all that”. Anecdotal example but it is exactly what they discussed.
'I hate when people make these claims without looking into the studies' 'Again, I haven't actually looked at these studies, I just talk to people that have'
Why not discuss how the moon is fake? There's more important shit. They could be talking about the fake fucking moon but they use this shit to distract us.
What is this garbage? Men aren't victims of society lmao. If you actually cared about those dead workers, then you'd looked at the managers. But you'd rather be a victim idpol moron
This drab old Patriarchy nonsense about how men can't be victimized by society again? Society never ceases to amaze me in the number of ways that it can put men through the ringer. Men are far more likely to be convicted of crimes and more likely to server harsher sentences than women. Men work their entire lives away to provide for women who then file for divorce because "he's just always working and never available for me" and then take half of what he worked for. Men have no reproductive rights. Men are subject to military conscription. Young boys are diagnosed with ADHD and drugged because they are rambunctious. Women can physically assault men with no consequences and men who would even dare retaliate are painted as monsters. The Patriarchy is a myth. Men and Women gained their roles in society not as a result of a master/slave relationship, but rather, as a partnership entered into mutually based on the natural affinity that each sex has for certain tasks and the relative reproductive value of each sex. But, over the last 35 years, the balance of power and privilege has shifted to favor women in almost every regard.
it's not just different jobs. im a woman and when on my first job, i found my female coworker made more than me for the same job. she wasnt that much more experienced than me, she was just a better negotiator, from being on the market a little longer. lesson learned. last year, i found out a female coworker made a lot less than me. she was more qualified, but younger and more naive. again, didnt negotiate well. she learned her lesson too, and now she makes way more.
On top of what they mention, men work more hours, more overtime, take less vacation time, stay in the workforce longer (so have more experience), and more.
There was a math problem in my school about three months ago that was about wage gap, it was basically to calculate the average salary of the woman and the salary of a man and some other stuff and of course the “woman earned less money in the same job” so my two friends (girls) start talking about how it’s outrageous that that happens and I was like no it’s a myth the wage gap doesn’t exist, it’s because women choose different jobs and take more hours in their homes, they basically saw me as a conservative white male (which I’m not I’m not even white) and said that they were disappointed in me, just wanted to share this story out there 😂
I agree with most of what you said. With that said, there are definitely less popular and less forward-facing professions that deserve more pay. A good example of this is any occupation in the medical field. They work sleepless hours and still earn far less than other high-visibility professions, and that's unfair because it's the government's budget that dictates what their wage is and not market value. More women tend to pursue medical professions (especially nursing where that has less prestige than say a doctor), and I think we should be solving this problem of allocating more money to professions of higher necessity.
My dad is a Podiatrist when we lived in Michigan he did everyone elses work, plus being on call ALL THE TIME no saturdays off and he would get home at 10pm most nights for less than 80k while paying rent for a house (Later Mortage), and extracurricular activities for me and my 2 siblings. Podiatrists deserve more pay as well as many other medical professions as they are in deep debt and get paid little to nothing for YEARS until they find a high paying job and Anesthesiologists are Nurses and get paid twice what Podiatrists make... I agree with your statement
Man is also a family supporter gives something to grandma, or grandpa, or child etc or spends money to repair wash machine he gets more but also spends more then he gets in return a nice relationship or empathic approach but the thing is if a woman gets less she also tries to spend less the good thing would be if she one time gets more she may go with her hubby on vacation or to trip so he actually is glad she got more sometimes if it helps he would be crazy arguing about it, that she brought home some money, for the advantage of both if it helps them financially, but I understand the logic that man gets more and pays more so he may eventually spend less. He would say darling I don't argue about it you bringing some extra money for the household. maybe we may buy something.
I know for retail, in some stores they have girls who say no to unloading, carry outs, and making bails. Yet for the same money, men can't refuse any of that.
Yeah cos if men used the same logic to produce their own statistic itd probably be at least like "1/5 men are raped on campus" aswell which really makes it far less of a "feminist issue"
Well where I work as an engineer I'm willing to bet that one of my coworkers who's female in the same exact position get's paid more than me. However, I've been with the company a few months longer but started in a different position. so she's been in our current position longer therefore it makes sense she makes more, she has more experience in the job than I do. There are a lot of things that factor into how much you make especially as a salaried employee. your skills(degree), experience( how long and where), then how profitable your company is. there can also be some economic factors like how much people with your degree typically get paid. how much money you demand if they really want you, early in your career you cant really do this. there could also be some desperation on the company's end. where they will pay more than normal for an experienced person since people like you are hard to come by. or in a case of a fresh graduate they might hire someone with no experience. With all that being said there are so many factors into how much you get paid, but it is on you to verify that it is fair. if you don't think it's fair ask for a raise r find a new job that does pay you fairly.
Seems like people feel they are entitled to work and pay. Instead of asking for a raise themselves they want the government to do it for them. grow a pair and ask yourself, because I tell you what it's a lot easier to pay 1 employee a little more to keep them happy than it is to get hundreds wanting more and you're forced to lay some people off. It's all about initiative, a vast majority of people won't do it. so use that to your advantage. ask for a raise and have some evidence to back it up. like I've done x and y for the company and it saved money or I've been working more hours lately because it seems like I have more responsibilities now. if you're reasonable most bosses might agree and say sure we'll give a raise and sometimes it might be more than your thought.
Experience and wage negotiations also effect alot. I work with two other guys around the same age with 2 weeks experience on the job. We all get slightly different wages, one of us went to has a degree for it, i have similar experience so i asked a slight raise and the third guy gets minium wage
If you honestly make less than a man in the same position it’s your fault at this point. Get on Glassdoor and know what your position is worth before negotiating. Key word... NEGOTIATE.
"Wage gap" was such an awful name for it. A wage is what you're paid for a specific task. If there WAS a wage gap, there'd be an actual crisis in America. "Earnings gap" is what we have.
But an 'earnings gap' would just be shut down with the exact same argument as the wage gap, the earnings for women are lower in comparison to men because not as many choose to do jobs such as engineering or becoming a doctor but instead become dance teachers or nurses (examples not generalisation)

@@carsonsmith4203 gender and sex are the same thing
@@loganayers7872 they aren't. I can refer you to some textbooks but if you take any entry level sociology course you will discover that, "Sex refers to the physical or physiological difference between males and females, including both primary sex characteristics (the reproductive system) and secondary characteristics such as height and masculinity. Gender is a person's deeply held internal perception of or her gender. A persons sex, as determined by his or her biology, does not always correspond with his or her gender. If the wage gap was true, then why don't companies just hire women if they cost less to do the same job?
Some femenists will say construction workers should make the same as a secretary. Thats where the real wage gap is. Of course if I'm a construction worker and i could make the same money sitting at a desk all day without a college degree I'm switching careers.
I thought the belief was that women work more in the office so that more people will apply for a job seeing a lot of hot women and stuff, although I’m not sure how the wage gap works
-Bryan- A construction worker does make the same as a secretary. Sometimes less if you move up to executive assistant and take on more and more responsibilities.
Well someone needs to get the job done
Watch the video they literally say that...
3 things: OnlyFans, strip clubs, and maternity leave.
in this order!
@@alex-279 Except in the workplace its illegal. Report it. Instead of getting someone else to rat for you.

There is a major problem with that,
Not even in a developing country can a wage gap exist...no employer can employ a man if they could get women of the same quality cheaper...

If the women win they have to swap salaries. a tie then they split the salaries, if the men win it says the same. It will never happen because it's not politically correct or whatever, but that's the fairest way possible to determine who should get paid more.

And yes my wage should have been cut due to poor grammar 🤦🏽♂️
Men work harder
Why is it people who say women don’t get equal pay never look up the equal pay act of 1963

Whenever I hear people say this, I always ask to see the pay stubs.
They always shut up.
There actually is a real wage gap. Millenial women have been found to make more money than millenial men for the same job.
How did she respond to that?
its easier for women to get jobs and get paid hire and better benefits in my experience, i work for a bank that had WOMEN only program. wtf is that, i never had any help in my career
Stop helping
This is a fallacy
Griffin Mumbelgrofft what’s that mean
it is enforced by law to pay equally to both genders, so you are lying
@@emilyknight9627 he's not necessarily lying. Just don't have all the info. How much longer has she been there?
Am I the only one impressed with how quickly Ari Shaffir named Melo as the 15th player in the NBA?
That’s so accurate.

Wage gap solved
"The Loop Of Obligation"
I like that saying
You can always just work harder and set your own standards of excellence higher
It’s an earnings gap-not a wage gap

The Wage Gap is not the same as the Pay Gap. Why not discuss the Pain Gap; men comprise ~90% of work-related fatalities.
Why not discuss how the moon is fake? There's more important shit. They could be talking about the fake fucking moon but they use this shit to distract us.
Joel D and men work 10% more per week than woman. Up to 5 more years at work over a lifetime.
Just a bit of Junkie the moon isn't fake, I can calculate it's mass, distance, and size independently.
What joe said its true , they are doing different jobs , a lot of women who has a very good job or doing really good gets so much also
it's not just different jobs. im a woman and when on my first job, i found my female coworker made more than me for the same job. she wasnt that much more experienced than me, she was just a better negotiator, from being on the market a little longer. lesson learned. last year, i found out a female coworker made a lot less than me. she was more qualified, but younger and more naive. again, didnt negotiate well. she learned her lesson too, and now she makes way more.
Man is also a family supporter
gives something to grandma, or grandpa, or child etc
or spends money to repair wash machine
he gets more but also spends more
then he gets in return a nice relationship or empathic approach
but the thing is if a woman gets less
she also tries to spend less
the good thing would be if she one time gets more
she may go with her hubby on vacation or to trip
so he actually is glad she got more sometimes
if it helps
he would be crazy arguing about it, that she brought home some money,
for the advantage of both
if it helps them financially, but I understand the logic that man gets more and pays more
so he may eventually spend less.
He would say darling I don't argue about it you bringing some extra money for the household.
maybe we may buy something.
I know for retail, in some stores they have girls who say no to unloading, carry outs, and making bails. Yet for the same money, men can't refuse any of that.
And there is so much more social pressure for men to be successful and make more money.
Walter William , Thomas Sowell,
MILTON FREIDMAN.
all say the same thing,
no wage gap exists.
that last bit was the most interesting
My teacher was fr going on about this, she's about 65💀💀
Almost as infuriating as the "1 in 4 women are raped on campus" myth...
We all get slightly different wages, one of us went to has a degree for it, i have similar experience so i asked a slight raise and the third guy gets minium wage
does anyone know which podcast episode this is from?
My partner earns more than me. I'm a stay at home Dad.

Bill Burr summed up the Wage Gape With a Titanic Senario.
The study they always reference didn't account for job title, education, hours worked etc. Just took x women , x men and compared their yearly salary.
"Loop of obligations". Too true.
