Its a resonable figure to look at when discussing earnings but it doesnt actually mean anything when talking about a wage gap. If the female employee works 7h and the male employee works 12h they should be PAID roughly the same per hour but the man would EARN about twice as much
amanda cabrera one could argue more than double assuming the 12 hours places them into overtime pay which is generally 1.5x at least in the US Edit: Look at the comment below to see why I’m wrong. Oops

@@Keys879 yep totally agree. If they really decided to enforce something that didn't exist based on merit then they would probably start penalising men for working more hours or increase women's hourly rate so that have an equal "annualised" earnings. That is the danger of letting someone have their way not based on logic but simply out of an envy of others earnings and misandry.
Yeah, and I bet they make 100k a year and don't do shit all day. I'm sure their nice government job is simply more patriarchy at play. More bureaucracy, please. Now lets cut the wages or fire people who actually do stuff so we can hire a few more of these bureaucratic leaches. Fire the white males first, we have quotas to reach.
@Nic B I might be wrong but I think he meant it as an obviously nonsensical imprecation, on the same level as the nonsense of having an all-women "workplace gender equality agency." We oppose sharia law and we are labeled racist. We expose falsehood of gender pay gap and we are called misogynistic. Howard is just using the N-P-C playbook reaction in reverse (and almost certainly tongue-in-cheek).

@Peter Simpson Marcus Garvey was wrong. RazorBladeKandy was white. Chinweizu synthesized both their ideas but it was Rollo Tomassi who perfected them. His text The Rational Male currently has far more appeal than the myriad of black nationalist literature already in circulation. It so happens that he published it the same year Tommy Curry challenged the fantasy of male privilege, referring to being a black male as a death sentence . His The Man Not however was not the first text to address the shortcomings of fem-centric pan-africanism. Nor was his recent 'Decolonising the Intersection' despite highlighting his attempts to emphasise the role of misandry in black female thinking. Chinweizu (Anamtomy of female power) and Shahrazad Ali (The Black Mans Guide) also made similar efforts but it was George Subira (1992) who hit the mark . Unlike Chinweizu, Subira did not draw upon Esther Vilar's 1976 classic, The Manipulated Man. Unlike most disciplined minds, Subira was an original thinker and one of the first to advocate a programme of economic leadership. Most modern black rhetoricians can offer no such programme or agenda because they are largely victims of black female programming. Their minds were long domesticated meaning they are reduced to reproducing aimless echo chambers almost every time they talk. Neely Fuller (1957) was not hostage to such conditioning but his programme seems to have a key fault. Despite realising the incredible driving motivating force of sexual expression , he still managed to downplay it's role, especially how it compares to the larger logic of antiblackness and global white terror domination. Although Charles Mills (1997) did indirectly develop his ideas, he neglected to integrate the foundation his own work borrowed from, "The Sexual Contract." (1996) Neil Postman, like Jeff Schmidtt, was one of the few people capable of making sense of these divergent ideas (much like John Gatto and Jan Matthews were two of those rare individuals with the pieces of the puzzle.) Conventional panafrikanism doesn't even realise there is a jigsaw to be solved. It has a distorted conception of itself because it views the world through a damaged lens incapable of accountability and self-reflection. PanAfrikanism will not produce any quick results either because unlike Chinweizu, Subira and Curry, it still refuses the interrogate and recognise the role of women in sabotaging the afrikan agenda. Texts like Addicted to White work towards this, only, in this age of intersectional confusion and fragmented voices in the wind, it isn't necessary to silence this perspective; it is enough just to drown it out. Jacques Ellul and Guy Debord surely foresaw this tragic arrangement, when few others could. Men have been fooled, black and white. It is no longer a question of race-first but male first, if not black-male first at the very least. Men are going to have to muster the clarity and courage to challenge the corporate-feminine regime dominating their "emptied" lives. If anything is to be redeemed black thinkers will need to prioritise the black pill and realise that the fundamental question of what it means to be a woman is as urgent as the need to ask what it means to be white. Patient?....Hmmm, I don't think it was that. I imagine the Senator was actually fuming inside at the mixture of arrogance and stupidity demonstrated by these women - no doubt themselves in highly paid Government positions. I believe Senator Leyonhjelm was playing them beautifully in the knowledge that ABS data was there to sink their case. Annualising part times rates to full time rates presents a false picture - which they are well aware of - and hourly rates , which are the basis for all wage calculations across the business spectrum correctly show that a gender pay gap does not exist. Ironically this data is available in the same ABS report. Brilliant questioning by the Senator. Smug, arrogant, deceitful response by the "ladies".
His calmness gives space and time for these women to come to the excrutiating conclusion that they've wasted decades of their lives on a complete and utter fallacy.
I don’t think they’ve wasted this time . They were getting paid . Thy were extracting tax payers money to fight windmills . Spreading misinformation . I think they think it was a productive decade
They have wasted nothing. They are getting paid to chase unicorns. They ARE the reason the wage gap myth will never go away. But the data to complete the dataset and give a full picture has been selectively ignored. Feminism all over: write a conclusion and then cherry pick the data that supports it.
Mans calmly dismantled their argument. No raising his voice, no bickering, no snarky comments. He just asked questions and let them get caught up in their own mess.
I tried making this argument to a woman who claimed she wasn’t a “feminist”. It was pointless. She kept repeating the rhetoric of “77 cents on the dollar” yet when I brought up different occupations, education levels, hours worked between men and women - even cited or showed examples of WOMEN themselves backing the argument (ala Ronda Rousey pay gap clip) - she would keep repeating “where are the stats”. I showed her the stats and it still didn’t matter. This idea about the pay gap is so deeply rooted now that it’s almost impossible to argue.
Never forget that anyone citing "77 cents to the dollar" is likely citing BLS statistics that ALSO show something like a "33 hr workweek to the 43 hour work week"
A logical argument would be: 'If that was true (which is illegal in the US and most other western countries btw), why would any company hire men at all, if they could just hire women and save 23% of salary costs?'
Look at her expression of pure contempt for the senator at 5:20, truly unbelievable. She's not there to achieve equality, she's there because she has been rejected by men one too many times.
I think the main point these women could have made was that women have to take time off if they want to have babies which enables men to work more hours in their lifetime. I realize that it would only be the first couple months but still it adds up and certainly is unfortunate that women are made to bare the brunt of child carrying and birthing however that's life, also suck that men are the ones that Jill themselves more. The implication that only males shirk on duties is indeed repugnant. I believe the data shows that *any* employee, regardless of gender, shows a diminishing value added the higher the number of hours worked beyond certain thresholds, which are in turn dependant on the type of work being performed. @@mafiotzi No, it's not only if they do the job as efficiently. Why do you think China has children working in their factories over grown adults? “We don’t have that data” is such a pathetic excuse. If you are dealing with incomplete data you explicitly state this and show how your findings are (in this case severely) limited. And god forbid they should try to adjust their findings, or ya know - get the data that is vital for the study

They didn't based their calculation on real worked hours, it's based on the assumption that they all worked the same number of hours. Without any extra hours. That's how every country got that ridiculous supposed "gap", ignoring the real data.
@UCgn3dvCtj6-c3opGdZYF0IA You make a good point, I am just not too sure if that is a good way to normalize the data. Generally speaking when an employee is full time, you do pay them more because they have more experience and can demand more pay. Part time employees usually do not have the level of experience that can command the same rate. A lot of full time employees started out working part time and then make the transition. I would be more interested in seeing all part time workers annualized and then compared, also a comparison of all full time compared to just full time. Generally speaking part time employees are at the beginning of their career while full time employees are more established. Many people choose to always stay part time for a number of reasons, family, going back to school, etc. But it is hard to build a career if you just stay part time. Full time employees are also for the most part taking a bigger lead on bigger projects. Part time is generally speaking supporting the full time. For some part time is a perfect compromise between financial wealth and mental wealth, for others it can be frustrating. Sorry, you deleted your comment.
@@IronFreee essentially true. Our firm pays 40% of hours billed regardless of whether they are boy or girl. It doesn't matter. @numba1pinoy I agree with what you're saying but there's a difference between being more productive and more deliberate and careful. I do know what you mean tho
@@RussellDeacon No, it's different: she claims that, although men sits longer at their desk, their 12 hours of work is not productive, because after 8 hours you lose productivity. Which is true according to research, but she is bending this result to support her claim: it doesn't matter if you sit longer at your desk because you are as productive as 8 hours or work, so either you should pay more who sits there 8 hours or less (mainly women) or pay less who sits there longer than 8 hours (mainly men), which results into pay men less or pay women more. In the end all equality movements like Black Lives Matters or feminist end up in the same place: they are made of people who want money for free.
Basic business. If you could pay women less, you would only hire women. Problem with that is most men would be unemployed, mostly men would be at home taking care of the kids while the woman works for less than her partner would have made for doing the same job... but that’s not the world we live in, is it? If these lady’s are anything to go by, possibly not 😅
The problem with a gender gap study and repeating phrases like 'Gender pay gap', is that it is looking for confirmation of a belief rather than looking for the truth.
They use this argument in the USA, but don't account for the fact that women generally go into lower-paying, lower-education, lower-skill level, and lower danger jobs than men. Women become nurses. Men become the surgeons. Women are the hostess and servers in the restaurant. Men are the chefs. Women are the flight attendants. Men are the pilots. Women are the accountants or secretaries. Men are the engineers and architects. There's nothing systematic about it. Men and women are GENUINELY DIFFERENT and statistically choose different careers. I doubt (in the USA) anyone can find an example in which a female pilot got paid less than a male pilot in the same company with the same experience and education. There isn't a single instance where a female nurse gets paid less than a male nurse in the same hospital with the same schedule, education, and experience.

This is why we can't have honest political debate anymore. We don't have honest data anymore that we can trust in order to tweak our approach to sociopolitical issues. Nowadays studies are conducted in a manner to fit a foregon conclusion. The data is tweaked to fit instead of our views. It's sad but I don't trust any studies that come out anymore. I was part of a company that was investigated by the DOJ. They wouldn't tell us the methodology they used until after we signed an agreement with them. We did, and then they gave us some of their materials. They redefined words and categorized things in the most nonsensical manner in order to find us in violation if the law. In the end it was cheaper just to give them money to go away and best for publicity. Not great for justice though.
Because these women are being paid 10x more than any other middle class citizen whom they should be representing. And it is very comfortable to be paid 10x more and work only half time with only a fraction of the dedication of any other ordinary men or women.
This is a perfect example of what the post modernist victim culture of today's progressive left can do to a 'study'. They start off with an answer and are willing to sacrifice any data which may prove their conclusion wrong. It's not even about doing 12 hour days, the difference in hours worked between men and women in full time jobs is largely due to the amount of leave taken. On average, women work about 1 day less per fortnight than men in the same job.

Its a resonable figure to look at when discussing earnings but it doesnt actually mean anything when talking about a wage gap. If the female employee works 7h and the male employee works 12h they should be PAID roughly the same per hour but the man would EARN about twice as much

Although Charles Mills (1997) did indirectly develop his ideas, he neglected to integrate the foundation his own work borrowed from, "The Sexual Contract." (1996)
Neil Postman, like Jeff Schmidtt, was one of the few people capable of making sense of these divergent ideas (much like John Gatto and Jan Matthews were two of those rare individuals with the pieces of the puzzle.) Conventional panafrikanism doesn't even realise there is a jigsaw to be solved.

Seems like they knocked it up in 20 minutes before the hearing.
What makes it even more funny and absurd (if that's even possible) is the fact that at the same exact time she was implying that men aren't more productive sitting at their desks for 12 hours, as opposed to a woman sitting there for 8 hours she has the one to the left of her doing nothing but sitting there playing on her phone the entire time, while she is doing all the work.
@@kimberlyfrost4730 I do not find it funny at all. This is sexism. She clearly states that a man is not worth the 12 hours of the work he puts in. I *used* to want men and women to be treated equally, but as I have gotten older, I realise that men are treated like absolute crap and I do not want that to be enforced on women. If women got paid less companies would only hire them. It’s literally that simple
Only if they are as efficient at the job. My friend works in constructions (in Canada), and many times he's teamed up with a girl. When the time comes to lift some heavy stuff, he HAS to do it 100% of the time. She makes the same money as him, but he's doing all the heavy lifting. He complained to his boss and asked to be paired with ppl that can do the job, not only bits. He didn't get his way ofc. The only thing the company can do is shuffle the girls around in different teams, so that guys don't get aggravated to the point of quitting. Even if the girl makes less money than a guy, the company won't just hire women, because they actually lose efficiency.
@@mafiotzi No, it's not only if they do the job as efficiently. Why do you think China has children working in their factories over grown adults? The answer is that children are easy to exploit for labor. I'm also willing to bet that a child doesn't work as effectively as a grown man or woman would. If women are being exploited by being payed less than a man for the same job, then why don't employers just hire all women? Because men and women are paid the same, as shown by your friend that works with women who get paid the same yet they do not do the job as well as him. The gap in earnings between women and men are purely defined by the personal choices that women make.

Of course they get paid more, of course they advance faster, this is not brain surgery. Who do you pay more, the guy who brings in $1,100,000 in revenue, or the woman that is bringing in $900,000 per year. That's obvious. Moreover, the unpaid hours spent rain making isn't even taken into consideration. In my experience the 'gap' does not exist. Same for paralegals and secretarial staff.
