It's absolutely great, with compass, temp, altimeter, barometer, perfect for the mountains and I don't have to worry about the battery like the smartwatch I was using before. I'm converted, definitely need some Casio's in every watch collection. 👍👍Appreciate the comment and advice!
A local store was holding the black out resin Casio oak for me. I went to pick it up and spotted the half metal red just came in. In person it’s captivating. I asked the elderly lady which one she liked better and she said the red one easily. So I ended up with the red instead of all black.
That’s actually a good thing. You went with the watch that speaks to your taste. It will only be a problem if you still need to get this blue one which makes you 2 g-shocks poorer by the time it’s all said and done.
Just got my blue metal casioak. It’s sort of great - in bright daylight, it’s spectacular - but it gets dark and dull in anything but good light. For this reason, it’s never going to be an everyday watch - but as a summer/outdoors watch it’s got a lot to recommend it.

I think the rubber strap keep G-Shock true to its origin. Would take a titanium cover take some weight off. Wish to see a vintage take like the dw5600eg with gold accent. That would be interesting.

Is the glass scratch proof ? Can I wear it casually every day without worrying about the polished steel wearing off ? Like I do not intend to remove it while washing my hands, would that be safe or shall I go for the plastic version instead ?

I got this and it's the best. Now I can just say that all 2100s aren't as amazing as the hype goes, but at least I have the best and, well, it's wearable sometimes, but I don't feel it eliminates other choices pretty much at any time. But it's better than the most for sure. But it's top-5% not top-0.05%, you know.

Yes the watch stops. Then you can replace the battery and it will work again. This is almost 3 years old and it’s still not depleted. So it’s different situations and different results.

Great video! You nentioned the module is the same, is it possible to swap out the module from the octagonal housing of the GA2100 and into the circular modual housing of the GM2100?
@@DesignAtelier I just tried this, it doesn't work (unless you don't care about the index markers). the gm2100 module can fit in the ga2100 housing, however the index markers for the gm2100 are a fixed part of the housing, whereas the index markers for the ga2100 are a detachable part of the face of the module. the face of the ga2100 module has some fitting on the dial to make room for the index marker ring, whereas the gm2100 dial does not. so you can put the gm2100 in the ga2100 housing, but you will have no index markers :(
A new model has been release GBM-2100. Hoping there will be a review on this and like to know if can swap the metal bezel with a resin bezel from a GA-B2100/GA-2100.

yes its the GM-2100N-2ADR. Its a dark navy strap that just looks black for the shots i made. its likely that the camera was compensating for the orange light and BG.
Is it possible to swap the dials between the regular and metal cases, so that you could use the more premium dial from the metal Casioak variant for a custom AP royal oak metal kit mod, by housing it in the regular model's case?
@@DesignAtelier I think the GA2100 (original Casioak), GM2100 (metal version), and GMAS2100 (smaller version) all use the same 5611 module. If that's the case, then you probably swap the dial/inner bezel/modules and put the metal dial-module into the GA2100 and GMAS2100's carbon core/inner case. I'm not sure if this will 100% work, given that the GM2100's carbon core is circular and the GMAS2100's case is presumably octagonal, like the GA2100 series. So, I can't definitively conclude that the dial-modules of each aforementioned series listed above will feature comparable enough dimensions to be swapped between carbon cores like that; assuming they're designed differently for some reason. If they can be switched, that means you can put an aftermarket AP Royal Oak-inspired mod kit on the GA2100/GMAS2100's carbon core with the GM2100's dial-module. If you decide to try it out, please let us know if it works! If it does, posting a RUclips video on it would also greatly help other modders, since there's nothing of the sort on RUclips, yet.

At least with this one the bezel won't stretch after 18months. I'm having to replace the bezel on my GA2100 stealth as the crystal opening is now oval and this makes the buttons flush with the bezel so awkward to use.
No. Try pressing on the display downward while you push the bezel upward. It should come off. It is snug fit to the bezel so it feels like it’s stuck. But all that’s holding it are the 4 screws on the lugs
@@DesignAtelier indeed, the one issue the current aftermarket bands have is they don't taper down enough from the point of connection of the watch and causes the watch to have a gap between wrist and steel band, having 6¼ wrist It might possibly have the same gap, here's to hoping the next gen of bands fix the gap
Good question. If they could be, then it's possible to outfit the premium dial into an aftermarket AP mod case and bracelet. Does anyone have an answer to this?
The strap is more premium feeling than the usual resin band. Outside of leather (which kinda would be inappropriate for this watch) and full metal bracelet, I don’t think the can do better than this.
@@DesignAtelier I meant on designe. The designe of it still make it look too sporty, while the case and overall designe make it be more mixed between sporty and casual, if the designe of the bracelet followed that it would look pretty neat!

Ah yea, I removed those 4 screws already but then even I tried to pull or push, I still can take out the bezel. The thing is with metal bezel, we can’t use anything to insert to lift it like the GA. I hope they didn’t glue it. 😅

It is a very muted almost grey blue. Likely the lighting. The thumbnail image is the closest to the actual color.

That is very possible. Someone suggested that a few weeks ago. I might have a go at it.

No. It won’t fit. I tried. You’ll have to wait for a proper GM2100 case mod because the inner case is shaped differently.

I wish they gave it a prettier bracelet, even if rubber... Still, the Green version with Green dial and bracelet is still worth it!
The strap is more premium feeling than the usual resin band. Outside of leather (which kinda would be inappropriate for this watch) and full metal bracelet, I don’t think the can do better than this.
@@DesignAtelier I meant on designe. The designe of it still make it look too sporty, while the case and overall designe make it be more mixed between sporty and casual, if the designe of the bracelet followed that it would look pretty neat!

Love this video. But may I ask how can you remove the case of the GM? I tried with mine but it’s to hard to take it off.
The bezel is held by the same four screws on the lugs. It’s just a different kind of screw. You have to use the right precision drivers for it.
Ah yea, I removed those 4 screws already but then even I tried to pull or push, I still can take out the bezel. The thing is with metal bezel, we can’t use anything to insert to lift it like the GA. I hope they didn’t glue it. 😅
@@d.raymondfann1925 try pushing from the crystal glass downward. It’s a little more snug fit than the GA2100. But they don’t glue these.

it scratches yes. but it will survive since its a g-shock. typically at least.
What tool (hex key size) did you use to take the GM 2100 apart ?
I honestly don't know. I just pulled it off a precision tool from a bargain bin.
I wonder if the module itself - not with the shell - can be swapped. I think to put the newer Solar/Bluetooth module in the green GM-2100B-3A. Any idea?
