      Not a fire fighter but construction and overall outdoor guy. Been wearing g shocks but stopped because the older I get the less bulk I want. Also started getting into automatics but don’t want to wear them ripping trials or on the job site. I have a few nice ones. Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 is my main everyday out in the town wear. But I have been missing a tough rugged watch for my job or outdoor activities. This model is so much slimmer. I think it’s a 45mm so still bulky a bit but slim and it works well. Compared to other g shocks that are 57 mm. Ugh. I don’t miss those hogs.

    Important thing to note: if you own a resin casioak, refrain from wearing it in high-heat/sun environments for prolonged periods of time. The bezel on mine, despite being less than a year old, has suffered from slight plastic expansion and now forms a noticeable ellipse with a small gap around the crystal rather than a perfect circle. My working theory is this happened due to working outside a lot in the summer time. Very small issue, but could be a massive bother to certain other people (myself included)

    I had never owned a G-Shock until I bought the GA2100-1A1 last year ... and I love it! The darker face takes a little getting used to but looks great on a watch that has almost perfect dimensions and depth, giving it a lower profile, 'stealthy' look. Last month I purchased the GM2100-1A (stainless case / resin strap). It's also a beautiful watch with a great band but note that part of the case, near the lugs, are shinier than Casio's product photos would indicate - closer to chrome than to brushed stainless.

      I thought this was just me! 3 seconds usually isn’t enough time for me to tell the time and it sticks bc I work in the dark for the most part and like to have a watch to tell the time when I wake up before the sun is up. The lume lasts about 30 mins after so basically useless. And the hand showing the day of week seems like wasted space and should’ve been digital. I still love the silhouette and aesthetics of the watch but not as practical as I thought it’d be.

    Just bought my first g shock 2 days before Christmas. I went with the GA-b2100BNR in ignite red and black. I agree with teddy in stating this is the one to bring over people who maybe never considered a Gshock in the past. It’s not so bulky and crazy looking as some of the others. So far I absolutely love it. I wear it daily to work as a carpenter in NYC and it stands up to quite a bit of abuse. I have quite a few watches from a variety of manufacturers and price points, but my new casioak is dominating wrist time as far as work hours go. There’s a lot to love about these and for $150 it’s kinda hard to say no or find a good reason not to buy one.

Before purchasing it I thought it might be too bulky but Teddy was spot on about the dimensions, the watch wears much smaller than you'd think. I’m on the coast in the southeast US and routinely use mine for anything with a damage risk including surf fishing. I clean it with a brush periodically and after exposure to the saltwater. Zero issues and highly recommended as a durable, yet nice looking beater.

What I don't like about the new solar and bluetooth ones is that they have got rid of the day display on the left hand dial. Few Questions About Solar:
    1. When fully charged, how long will the battery last?
    2. How long does it take to charge from dead to full?
    3. How long will the solar battery last before it needs to be replaced? Can it be replaced? If so, how much does that cost?
    Thanks for the great video. 👍

    Thank you for all the great content about watches. I am a 'watch wearer' rather than a 'watch collector'. Once I settled on the CasiOak, to get the analog/digital hybrid, there seemed to be three distinct decisions to be made:
    * Resin or metal case
    * Third dial: day-of-week or mode/Bluetooth
    * Positive or negative LCD
    It turns out there are very few options with the metal case, day-of-week dial, and positive LCD. The only one I found is in the Midnight Fog collection. At least it made my final decision easy!

    I always had unexpensive watches as gifts from my dad when I was young. Primarly citizen and Timex, but also one very unexpensive casio iluminator series.
    Now that I am older, I got into watches and started out fairly cheap with 2 simple citizen quartz around 100 usd pricepoint. Then I got an very nice looking Casio Edifice series and now I want to preserve my metal pieces in good shape, so I bought a G-shock for the first time. And being so new to this world, I would absolutely ditch the non solar and Bluetooth versions of the Casioak. The time pieces are not a luxury automatic mechanism, so, having the functionality of those options for 50 bucks? Seems like a great deal to me. And the full metal version too, it is a "dressy" casioak you can wear to the office and take anywhere else without having to bring a plastic watch you can beat the crap out of. The only thing I eeally wish they did is to add a zaphire cristal to the metal case versions. That would round up the watch for the timepiece enthusiasts and allow for many more people to consider them as a nice buy. But yeah, how many other timepieces you can name that are so recognizable, so looked after by enthusiasts, have so much functionality and all of it for around 600 usd? I can think of... none

    Hello Teddy, huge fan. I do agree that G shocks make a great watch. Though I have a suggestion which I guess you can forward it to Casio.
    Just a little suggestion as a fan. In many reviews and unboxing videos on RUclips and other social media platforms, I got to know that in GA-B2100, the day indicator has been changed and is now visible on the digital screen of the watch. However, unlike me, many users found that you can either set the date and month or the day of the week on the screen at a time. Viewing both together in parallel is not possible right now. I just want to suggest that can casio please place the month-date on the top section of the screen and the day of the week on the second half of the screen as it will prove to be a very useful and important feature.
    I would genuinely request the development and design team at Casio to inculcate this feature in the watch as a new upgrade as it will increase the single-handed usability (one of the major reasons fans like me love Casio and G shocks) of the watch for everyday usage. As the metal variant, GM-B2100 is also on board, you can get this done with the mobile connectivity app, if possible.
    Rest the watch is real OG. Good luck.
