The videos are really helpful thanks. Dragging myself through the books but this is the first one I've got stuck on, that cheeky little bass beat is just too quick.
Julian Bramley Thanks for watching, really glad they’re helpful! Yeah tricky little bit of kick for Grade 3. Will post some videos v soon about building up bass drum speed for this type of beat. Cheers!
Mike Barnes Drums Cheers, I've cheated, left the 3e out and moved on, life's too short! Although I know I'll have to knuckle down eventually. Thanks again.
Hey Mike, currently working on grade 3 and this is one of my pieces. Your drum covers of the songs really help me out and give me a good guidance! It’s really good and helpful that there is a YT channel that has these videos, keep up the good work 👍🏻
Zane Jordan Sure thing man, thanks for watching! I did a full video lesson for this one too, link in pinned comment and description, you might wanna check that out too. Cheers Zane 👊🏻
Best drummer! When I first went to London, the only thing on my mind was to meet Mike Barnes! I don't even know whether you live in London. Just a guess by the accent!
Hi Mike - I'm taking my exam in under 2 weeks (my first drum exam) and this is one of my pieces. I love the track but I'm still really struggling with the double-hit of the bass drum from bar 18. My consistency seems to vary (and changes depending on the kit I play on) - I know it's late in the day but any tips? In terms of marks, is it better to just play a single beat consistently (and therefore technically play it 'wrong' compared to the chart), rather than lose timing/feel by failing to nail the double-beat?
Hi Lee! Best advice is don't obsess about that one moment and instead focus on building your general skills on the kick. Do this each day and stick at it!: ruclips.net/video/esCIfmA4JAA/видео.html Cheers, have fun and good luck! :)
Thanks Mike! Exam done now (I managed the kick ok, but fluffed a couple of other bits, but hey ho!). I've already got the Gary Chaffee book, having watched your other video, so I'm going to focus on that before cracking on with Grade 4. (PS - Don't Wanna Fight switches to the ride at bar 42 (doesn't stay on the hi-hat); I started to panic when I re-watched your video the night before the exam and thought I was playing it wrong!).
Hi Andy, thanks for watching! Yes could do that if I get time! Although coordination and groove are exactly the same as here, just right stick on ride instead on HH! Cheers :)

Did you get the double bass now? I know it's tricky but it's really fun after you get it down 😊
4 years later, still plugging away and finally cracked it!
@@julianbramley Hope it doesn't take me 4 years to crack it! If the song was at 90bpm I'd be ok!
As a drum student in year 10 (UK) since I started, my music teacher has suggested your name every time

@@leerobinson6967 Great Lee, well done! And great spot about bar 42, thanks for pointing that out! All the best man.
Hi.... Mike...bar 42 is going on Ride cymbal right?
Yes, see the description! Thanks for watching man! :)
Hi Mike, would you be making a new video with the portion of ride cymbal at bar 42? So I can know the difference in sounds. Thanks!

Time to start grade 3 :)

No offense, I’d like your video, but I personally hate those drumheads, drums, and cymbals. But otherwise your a really good drummer.
AM-PM Cuber ok, well thanks for watching anyway!
