Please note, the drum parts and song arrangements in Trinity Rock and Pop Grades can differ from the original versions. I'm well aware that the intro here is a different from the way Ringo played it on the original - he played floor tom to high tom due to him being a left-hander on a traditionally "right handed" kit (yes, I've seen the video where he talks about it). His toms we re-tuned so the floor tom was higher and the hanging tom was lower in pitch. These videos are recorded as a reference to help students prepare for their Trinity Rock and Pop exams, so I'm playing the part here as it appears in the Grade 4 book, not exactly as Ringo played it. To be fair, this arrangement recreates the sound of the original, rather than the physical orchestration - so I can see why they changed it. Sound is ultimately the business we're in. Cheers for watching! :)
Agreed. The four alternate between Tom and floor. Tom/floor/Tom/floor instead of 4 on the floor. And of course Ringo led from his left whilst going around the kit to his right. I’m leftie playing on a right kit and I practice and now lead from the right. Good practice to alternate
Thank you for playing this song I'm just learning to play drums and I have the first version with the notes but seeing you playing this version has helped my so much. I really appreciate seeing it .

@@MikeBarnesDrums I think some people are naturally better with regards to rhythm, ability to hear music. The mechanics of drumming, I agree is the result of thousands of hours practicing. Musical inclination is definitely a thing though.
Advay Hey man thanks for watching! The idea is to follow the written part in these grade pieces, except for sections such as “cont sim” (continue similarly), “develop”, “fill” (where you’d create your own fill) and the diagonal slashes, where you fill the space in context with what was played before - these don’t need to be a straight repeat.
I’m a drummer myself and a marching band pit percussion player and I’ve played the Elton John cover of this song. By the way as a request can you play the one, simple life, and club at the end of the street by Elton John as well as the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, sea of tranquility and baby step back by Gordon lightfoot

It's Hannah Ringo could never manage that, so he did it backwards. Going from hi-hat to floor tom to top tom.
Maybe start something little bit easier to build your rhythm
