The college teams are just there to win, they're not interested in developing players. It's interesting that of the top 5 picks in this year's draft, only 1 was from an NCAA side.
From a guy who played H.S. Basketball with D. Wade....It's sad. But also admirable to see the Foreign players have become more basketball Purist than America....The Players and Fans. American Basketball has become too much like NBA2K...The Players and the Fans.
While USA moved on, this Lithuania got thrashed by Serbia in the next game, maybe they lack some so called "fundamentals", i don't know..... Never make judgements from 1 game.
One big problem for the USA is that it selects too many players that have been the best or second best player on their team all their lives and suddenly they have to play a supportive roll. It is not that they don't try to adjust but they have not built the habits for those rolls, fighting over every screen, boxing out every time, setting good screens, and getting only four shots a game. They have grown used to having teammates to do what we call "the dirty work" while they get plays called for their strengths on offense. I have to wonder if anyone has ever benched Brandon Ingram for not blocking out in his life. Same for Palo and Ant, big strong guys that should get some rebounds but never seem to. Add that to subtle things like the difference in how traveling and block charges are called and they lose the ability to just play in the flow of the game. They end up thinking too much out there and still being surprised by a 14 second shot clock after a turnover. I have seen some outstanding FIBA players struggle in the NBA for the same reason. There is more of an adjustment period than people think. It is one reason it was so surprising that Luka did so well starting his rookie year, but he is a special case.
Well it's on team USA staff to do the work and prepare them, scouting and training matter. ALso, why do they go into FIBA competition without learning the rules of that competition? they are supposed to be professionals.
They should take 5 main guys from nba ant others should be from euroleague teams, because now in this team players ego is bigger than team result, look at the ingram 😁
Facts. And this is just the start tbh, usa is one cold shooting night and opponents hot streak scoring away from elimination. Do or die games makes it more interesting hehe
@@ouicertes9764They practice and prepare under the FIBA rules. They just don’t play under those rules except when they play in the world championships, the Olympics and the rare exhibition game against an international team. Meanwhile the rest of the world, from what I understand, plays regularly under FIBA rules and are developed as youth playing under those rules.
Love it when Americans get angry. This means they will make the next Olympics tournament ten times more fun to watch. As for the Lithuanians..As a European who first saw Lithuanians playing basketball back in 1987 during the Eurobasket tournament, Lithuania was ALWAYS a land that produced pure talent. Add the Soviet school of coaching, and there you go. I remember then the USSR team had world class Lithuanians like Sabonis, Jovaisa, Homichius, and Marciulionis. Lithuania, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, even Latvia, are lands were people play basketball seriously and with a system, since forever. And athletes are almost always disciplined and focused to a plan, that is always based on teamwork and circulation of the ball. Coach Popovic always talked about how good some of the European coaches and systems are. For me, all these European teams getting stronger, will benefit the sport. And for those of us who love the sport, who wins or looses is secondary. Watching great games without knowing from before what the result will be, is what rocks my world.
As a Canadian, It says a lot about the standard the US team is held to when losing a game by 6 points (against a team that went 9/9 from 3) is the US team getting "exposed".
@@estelalopez3563 not as much as they're now. Tyrese Haliburton $260M, proven nothing, had zero impact in this game, gets a salary of a whole club in Europe. Nobody should be paid this money, even if the league is making a killing of these players. Unless you're a legit top 10 player.
Narr, it's the NCAA system that's much of the problem. There's a reason more and more players are going overseas, playing in the G league or OT league. Also those colleges are making millions while fighting tooth and nail to prevent the players making any of it. I've very little sympathy for that broken, dying system.
A group of good NBA players cannot guarantee to win every game in World Cup or Olympic. Teams USA and Canada are vulnerable. In the past World Cup and Olympic, US had to rely on their top NBA players like Kevin Duran to win the titles.
Although Anthony Edwards’s OFF BALL defense was far from good, he was excellent on ON BALL defense. If ur gonna pick and choose his low lights to flame him, please acknowledge what he did good as well.
I stopped watching the NBA decades ago, and only recently started watching college basketball again (after Muss took over as coach for the Razorbacks). The NBA, on average, is exactly what was seen in this game... lazy, sluggish, and disconnected. I'm amazed it still has a following. As for the boxing out, most college coaches don't teach it or expect it to happen, which has me wondering whether high school coaches do anymore. But the NBA is basically jogging down the court, playing a semblance of defense, then jogging to the other end when someone shoots. It's all marketing (selling apparel) these days.
the nba finals just featured a 7-foot point center who helms a complicated cutting offense where anyone can get the ball at any time, vs a swarming zone/switching defense coached by one of the most tactical minds in the game. the basketball you're looking for is in the nba right now.
Honestly watching the NBA has become boring. You know every possession is gonna end up with a 3-ball. And whenever we don't get a three, we get a player flailing for a free throw. That's 80% of an NBA game. I only watch because of habit, but honestly the games are not as entertaining.
@@One.Zero.One101 giannis, ja, westbrook, joker, Lebron, curry???? I understand the flopping and constant foul calls but there are certain players that do make it fun to watch
Yesterday I typed that you this clip was bad because you exposed Lithuanian tactics and today see what happened. You shou be into national team as a scout but you are from Lithuania I still can't believe that you told the whole world your national team strategy while tournament was still being played. This is lesson for you bro. As a portal you are great guys but don't analyze you national team till tournament is not finished I. The Future. Much love from Serbia for Lithuanian basketball!❤
It is not as much as fundamentals but more of their familiarity (or lack thereof) with each other. Team USA does not have a core roster that's been playing with each other for years in their national team. They also don't participate in other international tournaments like the Fiba Americas to build some chemistry. So what we normally see is just a 1 month old team trying to gel during the tournament. Most of the time they just win by pure talent, making them susceptible to upsets.
Bro, Lithuania reminded me of Brazil with Oscar Schmidt winning against USA in the Pan-American finals. It has the same fundamentals and strength of the South American team, it even has the same jersey colors, just a little different.
As a Canadian, our squad has a good mix of fundamental team hoops and individual performances. For the country where the game was invented, we have never been any good at it. Its awesome to see the boys hooping out.
I'm from Serbia, but I really wanted to see Murray and Wiggins play for Canada this year as this seems like the best time for you guys to win some medals. Hopefully you come to the olympics with a stacked team next year.
Love Canada's team so far. I think they have everything it takes to win this year. You can count on that defense when the shot aint fallin and that's huge
i personally think that this current LTH lineup is stronger/versatile without Sabonis bc they look for more 3pt attempts compared to a twin tower duo of DS/JV unless one of them are willing to play Donatas' off the bench role
Then Lithuania got destroyed by Serbia.. and I guess Italy doesn't have good European Fundamentals cuz they lost by 30.. its one game Lithuania grabbed rebounds vs an undersized team and shot lights out.. it happens.. Meanwhile USA still on track for Gold and Lithuania isn't even in contention for the bronze
Right on! The US team was slacking during the first half. They need to give more effort on both ends of the floor. Also, Jaren Jackson Jr. had more fouls than rebounds.
Great breakdown. Absolutely true to my view. USA is still top favourite on the tournament, but Lithuania shocked the world and made history. Hope to see them more and more.
@@tamaned7022 Idk what world you live in, but all experts and media were talking that US is one of favorites and a team to beat. But probably you just looking for ways to be cocky to people after the results, which is pretty pathetic to be honest :D btw, I did not cheer for US btw. Supporting Germany since EuroBasket'22.
The population of Lithuania by the way is only similar to the MUNCIPALITY of Chicago, the Chicago metropolitan area has over 3 times the amount of people. So in fact the US got beat by a country the size of St. Louis lmao
Excellent breakdown of the game. You are right, the Americans were lacking in fundamentals especially on rim protection and defense. Theres no excuse for the USA team to lose because they have the best talent hands down. I blame most of it on coaching and it was too little too late. Congrats to Lithuania, keep rockin it steady.
@@billysummers1616 Also, European basketball is based on team work while the NBA on individual talent, and that's how players are coached from early on respectively.
@Ramathustra Definitely a difference in style of play. However the US has played very unselfish, team basketball this whole tournament. This isn't like the Olympics where KD just single handily was beating teams. This roster doesn't have any of the 10 best players for the US, so domination wasn't to be expected
Losing JJJ to foul trouble was significant as was the cold shooting from deep. Jaren really needs to overcome his regular tendency to get in foul trouble.
I quite enjoyed this video. American here, but I can't stand how some people act as if Basketball is that much more superior in the states, when it honestly isn't in my opinion. The athleticism can be argued, but team ball is a whole other level as far as how the game is played overseas. Side note, not sure why, but the Knicks do sure love their Lithuanians haha. I think there's been three of them from that team that was drafted by, or at least played with the Knicks.
USA has 230 million dollars worth of players on that team vs. just 10 million of Lithuania. PERIOD! There's one player from Lithuania in the NBA, AND YOU LOST! LMFAO!!!!!
People need to realize that although the best league is NBA for talent in general, the best basketball is from Euroleague for exemple, they are not as athletic as the NBA players, but they play a much complex matches
Usually what happens is that the European teams are too slow to compete against the US teams. But in this case, the US team was just too small vs Lithuania.
Team USA loses one game and everyones losing their minds 😂 chill out guys USA will bounce back. Always do. You'll stop running your mouths in the comment section when Team USA shows you whats up
I often hear how USA plays the game the wrong way but the expectation is always high for them regardless. To take a game off of them seems to be a major accomplishment while no one seems to talk about the number 1 ranked team in FIBA placing 9th this year. Lithuania played their best game and still only won by 6 and then lost by 19 the very next game. I think that fact USA rebuilds a new team every four years or so and are still dominant, losing a few games here and there, is something that is often overlooked. It’s just always a major talking point when they lose because it doesn’t happen very often.
amen... none of this team will play again in the next world cup... it'll probably be 12 guys who are currently playing high school somewhere. while Lithuanian will have about the same guys lol. plus lol it was one game... one team was incredible hot. This looks funny today after Lithuania couldn't shoot and got blown our and USA completely blasted away Italy while STILL scoring 100 points
No one talks about how we blew Italy off the floor the next game because they want to run this narrative that the world haw caught up to us. Sure overseas players are getting better, but as a whole, the US is still the standard when it comes to basketball.
can i say one thing? They only choose Italy instead of Serbia. Then how it goes? They smashed Italy with 37pts of GAP. So they said “ hey we are enjoying this competition “ Lithuania then loss against Serbia. c’mon guys. On 3rd and 4th quarter they easily reduced the gap. They are smart. They won’t be in the other’s bracket. With slovenia serbia and canada. They choose Italy and probably 🇩🇪 or 🇱🇻. This is SMART/CLEVERNESS.
Great analysis! I think this defeat shocked the USA team. They will adjust their game in the knockout stage and despite lacking chemistry as a team, they win all their remaining games. I hope someone proves me wrong though
They aren’t mean unlike the old nba players from 2008 countries but the new team can’t shoot far most Americans keep saying this new USA team isn’t good
Thanks! I believe that is very possible. Especially tomorrow vs Italy. They seem to be perfectly matched against their offense. Vs Germany in semis, I think that's 50/50
Lithuania hit 9 3s in a row, that's all that happened. 3 point shooting is such a random factor in games and it lets inferior teams win more than they likely 'should' or would have with only twos
the narrative of USA having a really bad team is so annoying. they have a squad of either all star level players, or really good role players that contribute to winning. they have a great team.
Half of the team are max players. Even if its their B or C team Americans supposed to have "better talent" so they should win 10 times out of 10. Lithuania missing Sabonis so they not 100% force either.
Considering how the similarly Lithuania and Italy play (on the effort level) i think Italy it's one of the worst match-up for team USA if they continue to play like this
I actually don't think so.. Love Italy, have lived there for 4 years but.. Against switches, you don't have a mismatch inside. You don't have guards (not wings) that can post up. Both were a huge weapon vs USA for us. I hope I'm wrong but.. Let's see. It's simply that your biggest weapon is 5-out and Pick-and-pops and USA counters that very well with switching
This reminds me of the USA team at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Same lack of fundamentals as shown here and they looked more like each player was playing individually in a one-on-one game, not a 5-person team game. The USA was very lucky to get the bronze medal in those Olympics.
Great video great way to explain the amazing tactics by Lithuanian team, I am an American team USA were not showing much respect to their opponents so congrats to Lithuania.
@@arxeiapersonal8109they push a lot maybe it’s not wrestling and they can’t shoot far enough that’s why Americans thought this new team isn’t good and this new team needs muscles like the old nba players
saw the game live...and Lithuania was way too good for USA...USA was behind all game ,they tried and tried but the 3 points shooters from Lithuania didnt give them a chance!
I’m not sure why people think this is team usas best team, this is literally the c team. USA doesn’t dominate this tournament, and it’s only won it 5 times, because they roll out developmental squads.
This is what happened when you played a full season of nba shooting 3s non-stop with no defense! You get exposed infront of the world 🌎 the days of american basketball been the best are over for almost a decade!
Now make the video where Lithuanian talent got EXPOSED by the Serbian fundamentals. These takes are so cliche. Yeah tell us how Lithania is the size of Chicago with only one NBA player and now give me the American-city to Serbia comparison. How many points did "Curry nauskas" get today? Zero!
While USA were not concentrated in first quarter and then confused for a while, they actually did catch up LT off guard and about 5 min into 3rd quarter it was only 4 points difference. Pressure was applied for the rest of the game but difference on average stayed at 8pts. USA is stronger team however I don't think that if both teams have good day, USA would have guaranteed victory. In other words lack of concentration was not the deciding factor.
To be fair Lithuania's turnovers were a massive reason for the comeback, even when the threes dried up they still kept control of the game and never panicked. Always ran away after USA got close.
lol it was one game... one team was incredible hot. This looks funny today after Lithuania couldn't shoot and USA completely blasted away Italy while STILL scoring 100 points
It’s cute how other countries get so hyped when they beat USA. Do they really not know they are playing guys that aren’t in the top 10-15 in the league? 😂
You have three brilliant coaches of Kerr Spo and Lue for team USA. They will learn from this and make adjustments. if USA and LTU were to meet again in the finals I’ll be a much different ball game.
There are no adjustments to be made.. these games are one and done.. next game is with a different team.. and it’s the knockout stage.. if you don’t get it right you are going fishing…
100! The NBA has not only lost the desire to promote fundamentals, but it has trickled down to lower levels as well (high school and up). I'm glad they're getting exposed!
Kobe Bryant predicted this will happen first …but the media called Kobe an fool who don’t know what he talking about” Kobe is a goat bruh ….he knows more about fundamental then anyone in the NBA in the 2000’s and 2010’s and 2020’s
The USA has lost World Cup games and Olympic games in the past. This is nothing new. It just comes at a time where fans in Europe are excited by their belief that their players are taking over the NBA and are currently not holding back in trying to hype this up while at the same time drag USA born players through the mud after almost a century of being dominated by the USA.

While USA moved on, this Lithuania got thrashed by Serbia in the next game, maybe they lack some so called "fundamentals", i don't know..... Never make judgements from 1 game.

And USA lost two more games to Germany and Canada.
Both USA and Lithuania played eachother so hard they simply had no energy.

Excuses. They have the best coaches in the nba so they should figure it out
@@ouicertes9764They practice and prepare under the FIBA rules. They just don’t play under those rules except when they play in the world championships, the Olympics and the rare exhibition game against an international team. Meanwhile the rest of the world, from what I understand, plays regularly under FIBA rules and are developed as youth playing under those rules.

Dude if the Europeans start the same anabolic and steroids regiment like in the NBA , the Americans stand no chance, see Doncic and Jocic
It's even crazier because the FIBA team is a horrible roster. This isn't the Olympics lmao.
@@SmooveJimmyApollobut other countries are missing players too like Jokic or giannis
So much so the US team should have been arrested for "indecent exposure."

"I don't want to learn, I just what to get paid." One and done is killing the game.
True... Capitalism has consumed that game in the US.
@@Gyvenotjasbut nba players were paid in the past
@@estelalopez3563 not as much as they're now. Tyrese Haliburton $260M, proven nothing, had zero impact in this game, gets a salary of a whole club in Europe. Nobody should be paid this money, even if the league is making a killing of these players. Unless you're a legit top 10 player.
That's an interesting take. You mean one year of college don't teach them enough fundamentals or that their mindset is fixed on money only?
Narr, it's the NCAA system that's much of the problem. There's a reason more and more players are going overseas, playing in the G league or OT league.
Also those colleges are making millions while fighting tooth and nail to prevent the players making any of it. I've very little sympathy for that broken, dying system.
A group of good NBA players cannot guarantee to win every game in World Cup or Olympic. Teams USA and Canada are vulnerable. In the past World Cup and Olympic, US had to rely on their top NBA players like Kevin Duran to win the titles.
Team Canada. Have they won something previosly? You talk about Canada as a basketball nation.
Although Anthony Edwards’s OFF BALL defense was far from good, he was excellent on ON BALL defense.
If ur gonna pick and choose his low lights to flame him, please acknowledge what he did good as well.
Like he only mentioned him once? 😅
Huh???
the nba finals just featured a 7-foot point center who helms a complicated cutting offense where anyone can get the ball at any time, vs a swarming zone/switching defense coached by one of the most tactical minds in the game. the basketball you're looking for is in the nba right now.
Dumbest shit I read all day 😂
Honestly watching the NBA has become boring. You know every possession is gonna end up with a 3-ball. And whenever we don't get a three, we get a player flailing for a free throw. That's 80% of an NBA game. I only watch because of habit, but honestly the games are not as entertaining.

Oscar was amazing it seemed like..he could have been one of the best NBA players when at his best..
As a Canadian, our squad has a good mix of fundamental team hoops and individual performances. For the country where the game was invented, we have never been any good at it. Its awesome to see the boys hooping out.
I'd say Canada winning gold would be an ego check for the USA, but they consider Canada their territory so probably not haha.
@@ouicertes9764this USA team isn’t mean unlike the old nba team in 2008

Love Canada's team so far. I think they have everything it takes to win this year. You can count on that defense when the shot aint fallin and that's huge
i personally think that this current LTH lineup is stronger/versatile without Sabonis bc they look for more 3pt attempts compared to a twin tower duo of DS/JV unless one of them are willing to play Donatas' off the bench role
they are both 100% better without each other. and us, fans here, have been saying this for the last couple of years. this is one more proof of it
@@AugustasSuliauskas this current LTH lineup can also beat weaker nba teams in my opinion. Their chemistry is so good, JV needs to play tho 😂
Europeans have fragile egos, anytime USA loses a game they act like the world just blew up.
this sport has evolved so much, just pure joy to watch
Right on! The US team was slacking during the first half. They need to give more effort on both ends of the floor. Also, Jaren Jackson Jr. had more fouls than rebounds.

Zero concern. USA is going to win the tournament. You said it, Lith played the best game of their lives. Again, ZERO concern.
The population of Lithuania by the way is only similar to the MUNCIPALITY of Chicago, the Chicago metropolitan area has over 3 times the amount of people. So in fact the US got beat by a country the size of St. Louis lmao
this analysis is as phenomenal as the game was
Excellent breakdown of the game. You are right, the Americans were lacking in fundamentals especially on rim protection and defense. Theres no excuse for the USA team to lose because they have the best talent hands down. I blame most of it on coaching and it was too little too late. Congrats to Lithuania, keep rockin it steady.
Thank you very much
Best team doesn't always win in sports, and this US team has its flaws. Lack of size and chemistry are big
Well, I guess all that fundamental basketball and boxing out didn't keep Lithuania from getting blown out by Serbia.
Serbia has the same playstyle with more talent and size.. do some research
Proof that NBA has no defense. Would this happen with the 92 Dream Team?
I quite enjoyed this video. American here, but I can't stand how some people act as if Basketball is that much more superior in the states, when it honestly isn't in my opinion. The athleticism can be argued, but team ball is a whole other level as far as how the game is played overseas. Side note, not sure why, but the Knicks do sure love their Lithuanians haha. I think there's been three of them from that team that was drafted by, or at least played with the Knicks.

No one talks about how we blew Italy off the floor the next game because they want to run this narrative that the world haw caught up to us.

very well explain analytic, agree on lack of defense from Ant and 9/9 from the 3-point was monumental
I have something to tell you.........
Now Serbia destroyed this beautiful Lithuania. What a match!
Brunson hit the lucky shot also. Anyways this was the great game. Congrats to Lithuania

Augustas, super video as always 💪👊
Lithuanian fans were popping off everywhere in the MOA Arena the entire game and never let up. Deserved and congrats!

This is what happened when you played a full season of nba shooting 3s non-stop with no defense! You get exposed infront of the world 🌎 the days of american basketball been the best are over for almost a decade!
Who is the best team then? Spain? Nope. France? Nope. Go ahead and tell me which country is?
American's best doesn't bother to participate on the FIBA.
This USA team could’ve won but they can’t shoot far
To be fair Lithuania's turnovers were a massive reason for the comeback, even when the threes dried up they still kept control of the game and never panicked. Always ran away after USA got close.

It’s cute how other countries get so hyped when they beat USA. Do they really not know they are playing guys that aren’t in the top 10-15 in the league? 😂
As an American we truly live in a bubble lol we assume were the best at everything
A team shooting 50% from three isn't exactly "basketball fundamentals"
You have three brilliant coaches of Kerr Spo and Lue for team USA. They will learn from this and make adjustments. if USA and LTU were to meet again in the finals I’ll be a much different ball game.
There are no adjustments to be made.. these games are one and done.. next game is with a different team.. and it’s the knockout stage.. if you don’t get it right you are going fishing…
Yes we would not give you to comeback

And what happened against Italy? And Lithuania is gone 😂😂
100! The NBA has not only lost the desire to promote fundamentals, but it has trickled down to lower levels as well (high school and up). I'm glad they're getting exposed!
Kobe Bryant predicted this will happen first …but the media called Kobe an fool who don’t know what he talking about”
Kobe is a goat bruh ….he knows more about fundamental then anyone in the NBA in the 2000’s and 2010’s and 2020’s
The USA has lost World Cup games and Olympic games in the past. This is nothing new. It just comes at a time where fans in Europe are excited by their belief that their players are taking over the NBA and are currently not holding back in trying to hype this up while at the same time drag USA born players through the mud after almost a century of being dominated by the USA.
this isn’t gonna age well
