    I would like to mention that the adjustable feature is great on Jesel belt drives. But you should also know they increase performance by keeping harmonics from the camshaft produced by the crank. it’also has been shown that the chain acts like a pump pumping oil in and out of those grooves and the creating heat and using horsepower. 10 to 15 HP looking back at the adjustment you could get the same adjustment with chain drives they are available although I wouldn’t recommend them all the above reasons account for all pro stock, engine builders and all NASCAR engine builders use Jesel
    belt drives or some equivalent.

    I have the exact same jesel kit on my 632, wondering what's the recommended replacement intervals for these belts, ?
    I do wonder how these belts hold up to this large cams and valve springs etc although I've never seen one fail,

    I had a 79 Accord that I retarded the cam one cog, that was back in the 80s

    Is Smeading Performance going to dyno this engine? I think it would be interesting to see how the Jessel timing belt systems ability to advance or retard a cam by 10 degrees affects the of HP and TQ. Seems like that could be a game changer in moving the power around in the RPM range to where you want it.

    I couldn't watch after the banging on the crank shaft- why?? Put the gear on a heater like the f#cking coffee pot heater, smoke a cigarette get some gloves clean the crank journal and slide it on ! No hammering on the end of your engine..... damn

      @JacobVillemain  Год назад +2

      Lmao thank you for your comment. I will make sure to order bigger hammers for the next engine.

    I’d like to add one more note. Do not skip on the lifters it’s not worth it.

    Great information thanks for sharing! Question: I’m assuming that to make changes in the valve timing, you’d loosen the four bolts then turn the crank to achieve your desired advance or retarded number, is that correct?

    As I understand it the belt also reduces harmonics in the cam and make for more reliability.
    Really nice kit, too bad they cost so much.

    • @markgoulette5056
      @markgoulette5056 Год назад

      There is a lot of misinformation regarding this. Belts are no more reliable than a chain, and can fail if not properly maintained. The harmonics issue can be argued for both sides, but no data has ever been shown that this is the case.

    So the purpose of degreeing a cam is to verify the specs on the cam card from the manufacturer ? How often do the cam manufactures selll you the wrong camshaft? As I recall they all have the part number stamped into the front of the cam.

    • @JacobVillemain
      @JacobVillemain  2 года назад +2

      Degreeing the cam verifies that the cam is cut correctly. Very rarely do we ever see something not accurate.

    How long does the belt last for?

    • @markgoulette5056
      @markgoulette5056 Год назад +1

      The belt should be changed at a minimum of annually, or whenever it picks up debris, or is contaminated with engine fluids or cleaners...

    I would rather of seen dyno results. I have priced belt drive systems and their must be a good return on investment to justify their exorbadent price tag.

      We will show the changes on the dyno once the engine is complete. It is still being built so we can’t dyno it yet 😁

    Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. :-(((!
