- VN24 - Paderborn / Germany - (part 1) A serious traffic accident involving two trucks and a passenger car on the federal highway B1 caused two fatalities and one seriously injured person on Thursday morning. According to initial investigations by the police, the 56 year old driver of a 12 tonne truck drove from Bad Lippspringe towards the motorway A33 at around 09.55 a.m. Approximately 500 metres before the junction Schloß Neuhaus, he cross the double lane markings to the left and got into two lane of oncoming traffic for reasons as yet unknown. The truck collided first with a VW Golf which a 24-year-old was driving in the direction of Bad Lippspringe. The car skidded against an semi-trailer truck from Dortmund driving in the same direction, which was steered by a 55 year old male. The white 12-ton truck then also collided with the tractor trailer, causing the truck to break through the right-hand guard rail and come to a stop on the embankment there. All drivers suffered injuries, some of them extremely serious, and were trapped in their badly damaged vehicles. They had to be freed by the fire brigade. Emergency doctors and paramedics initiated resuscitation measures for two injured persons. Three rescue helicopters were requested. The driver of the white truck and the Golf driver died at the scene of the accident due to their injuries. The severely injured semi-trailer truck driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Paderborn. The police called in the public prosecutor's office, who commissioned an expert investigator. Numerous traces were secured at the scene of the accident. The police secured the vehicles. A crane truck had to be used to recover the semi-trailer truck. Work on the accident site continued into the evening hours. The damage to property is provisionally estimated at about 100,000 euros. The B1 was fully closed in both directions for the accident investigation and recovery measures.

I drove over 34 years heavy good vehicles all around Europe, Near-East and Russia. I saw many terrible accidents, sometimes with dead victims, but in this running world i think good showing for the public this videos and pictures from accidents. Maybe some driver seeing the videos maybe will next time driving carefully on the roads..... Now I driving only in Hungary and Budapest town all around but only 3.5 tons Peugeot Boxer, but i see the driving mentality is worst like before 10-15 years... O.K! I know: more vehicles, cars on the road in present day, but please everybody driving careful, and everybody arriving safety on home! Thanks! And Happy New Year for everyone!

In the US, the fire department kills the batteries as part of prepping for extrication. Guess that white truck was mangled enough they didn't even see them, and the wrecker drivers had a bit of a spark show...
Hello, yes battery disconnect, but after the FIRST rescue of a TOYOTA PRIUS, ONE NEARLY DIED FROM THE 600V DRIVE MOTOR BATTERY , they HAD disconnected the 12v battery, so as a result ALL FIRE DEPTS, were given special classes, & as others developed, they got instructions , where to cut is the car was so werecked So far never now heard of first responders hitting hurt , cheers
