Description: In this video tutorial of Exchange server 2016 by techi jack, you will see the demonstration of how to install cumulative update 21 on exchange server 2016. At the time of video creation, cu 21 is the latest cumulative update for the Microsoft Exchange server 2016.
First, we have to upgrade and extend Microsoft active directory schema to support the new version of the exchange installation.
After the schema upgrades and updating Microsoft active directory by running the prepareAD command, we can install the cumulative updates for Microsoft Exchange.
Note: Before proceeding with the exchange server upgrade process, make sure that your windows server 2016 operating system is up to date.

All you needed for setup command:
Setup /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms_DiagnosticDataOn /Mode:Upgrade

Great video - I followed this a couple of months ago for Exchange server 2016 CU21. I'm looking to install CU22 now. Would you recommend the same process or are there additional steps?

Thanks for the video. When we are in production, what are the steps or thing we need to ensure before performing the update??
Dont see mention of VC++ or .Net version updates ,and restarting before performing the CU update? was that done to save time?... I always check the Compatability matrix of each CU vs .nET

I have Exchange 2016 CU19. Want to jump to CU21. I see you run PrepareAD after Schema update. Is that really needed? Also Update all domains - if I have 1 domain, can I skip this step?
Can you share please MS document/manual, which steps should be run if 1 domain?

I have one exchange2016 cu 19 in one domain active directory. I just downloaded the cu21 Iso, mounted it and doubleclicked on setup.exe (as domain\administrator).
Everything went through perfectly.
Hi thanks for the video. I need your help in one of the issue i am facing i am trying to install cu22 i have downloaded the iso file and mount it when i am running prepare ad it says exchange cu setup 20 . I am very confused how its detecting cu20 when i have mounted the iso for cu22 . Also when i try to install setup.exe it says exchange server cu 22. Please help
It seems to be a cu22, you can go ahead with that
You can proceed with that setup, as it says cu22.
Yes only confusion was why its showing cu20 while doing /prepareAd and on double clicking on setup it says cu22 . Strange thing is when i checked on adfsi edit to check the schema entries and object version its still cu20.

first off, if your doing this in the CMD line you should do it as Setup.exe /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms_DiagnosticDataOFF /PrepareSchema
