I hopeless and I reckon very frustrating to watch from that viewpoint. Some of it is poor editing, but most of the time it's a mood change haha, cheers.
I reckon you're right about colour coding the mirrors mate. It will soften the look and take away attention from them cause they'll blend into the car better being the same colour. Leaving the trims polished and without the black accents will do the same thing I reckon. That paint difference definitely shows how much the Sun fades paint over the years.
Hi Peter thanks for the video! I think you're approaching the point where a good 3D printer such as the Bambu range would pay for itself very quickly. I've been watching Superfast Matt's videos and the ability to make functional parts as strong or stronger than the originals seems to finally have arrived. I'm thinking in particular the mirrors, grilles headlight surrounds and interior trim. I'm sure you have some good 3D modelling resources around you but I'd be happy to model some parts for you. Cheers Vaughan
Hello peter Phill with the XF Falcon shed some light on the rear windscreens rubber rare spares sell new ones that have the spots for the chrome molding you just put your chrome molding back in to the new rubber keep up the great vids and work
G'day again Pete, I have a spare set of electric ones I've been meaning to try fit into my Ute. I'm struggling to get the wiring sorted, as the Manual shows different colours to what my mirrors have. I have also tried to marry up someone else's loom with Deutch connectors, but I just can't get them to work (test bed) as they should. I hope those EF EL ones you have wire up ok! Will be keen to see how they hook up! Those key barrel lights were always dim, when it's dark you can see them, but they aren't anything special. I ended up cutting the wiring off, as I never had the extra timer loom. I'm sure you'll come up with something with an LED. Cheers Stu
Thanks Stu, the original mirror loom has 6 wires, these have 3... I haven't looked into it yet, but there will be 2 motors for complete glass movement. I would think each motor will have a common ground - I assume that would be the black wire, then a trigger wire for each which should be the red and white. I'll look at it and upload the results. The car didn't have anything connected and there was no switch, so I'll have to come up with something... cheers mate!
Just color code the mirrors and send it. You never know you may pick up originals in the future for a decent price and you can change it then. The price of second hand parts is getting insane these days.
Absolutely love the work you do, can’t wait to see you spend some time on the xa wagon I’m so looking forward to that build. Keep up the amazing work. Also Peter I emailed you regarding the 3 speed single rail I have, not sure if you received my email, did you still want it? Cheers
Hi mate, with the warmer weather I used a retarder to slow the drying time down. It does dull a little as it hardens off but will look good once colour sanded and buffed, cheers.
Nah - that colour difference stands out like dogs balls even in that light! Metalics are always hard, especially when a different batch mixed.. Even if you blended it'd not be great. I agree though that the front door green is much nicer
Ive been following you for years & love what you do. But Pete, you must have been sniffing way too many paint fumes if you think those mirrors are ok…😂😂😂 Mate, find another option please, they look absolutely disgusting on that car bud! Once you have it finished, you will look back at the car and say to yourself “what the heck was I thinking” 😂😂😂😂 Take care
Hi Peter. Just push that back window out from the inside with your feet with boots on. May have to help the rubber inside in the top corners with your fingers to start it on its way. The zone tuff glass will handle the push out gently. I've pushed mine out a few times on my own in my ZL. Same with putting it back in with a cord starting at the bottom with the seal in the bottom lip and work it around and also with a bit of soapy water in a spray bottle. That will save you a few bucks. You will regret leaving it in when you didn't get that crusty bit inside under the roof lining. Don't forget to have the window chrome moldings in the rubber seal before installing in the car. With all the other things you've done, it would be like a walk in the park. I'm not looking forward to pull the dash out of mine to fix the heater core, vacuum lines and the holes in the plenum. 😟
The way you chop and change what you work on and what you WANT to work on, gives me hope that I’m ok 😇😇 continually doing that here in my garage.
I hopeless and I reckon very frustrating to watch from that viewpoint. Some of it is poor editing, but most of the time it's a mood change haha, cheers.
Love your attention to detail Pete and I enjoy watching all your videos but geez you say um a lot 😜
Those mirrors! My eyes! Oh the humanity.
Needs must I guess. Painted, they should be perfectly serviceable.
The xh/el/ef mirrors are fine…
In the early 2000’s alot of people did that mod to their fords… also being able to fold the mirrors back is handy

Agree, just get it on the road, the. Worry about it later
Well said, cheers.

Colour code the mirrors 😊
Good video peter them mirrors hurt my head 😅 , I have some electric ones if your interested , I find it silly what people want for them
Thanks! Can you email me suzieandpeteranderson@gmail.com cheers!
Hi Pete, what are you doing to get that level of gloss off the gun for acrylic? Cheers.

Would XF mirrors work?
Yes I would think so and they would look a lot better, but I really have to watch the $$$.
Use a needle gun great on rust and scale also stress relieves.
I was thinking the same, just don't have access to one, cheers.
Valiants were the same, if you picked factory air condition, you got tinted glass , and V8 torsion bars .
Rectangular Led would probably fit
What about ZL /XF ones are they still around at reasonable prices?
Not that I've seen, these are hideous, but what to do?
@@PeterAndersons please reconsider mirrors, XF mirrors over the XH worst case scenario. Great job so far 👌
Someone please donate Peter mirrors! Those late model ones are truly awful. At least put XF ones on it.
When I bought these, I couldn't find anything else...
Colour code them & send it.
Can always find some later on and fit them
Try searching XG spac mirrors if you haven't already, maybe be something cheaper
I just know you're not going to be happy with that different colored door once the car's done.
Absolutely, I'm going to paint the whole car, cheers.
Why are you working in the shed in your shorty pyjamas.
You lost me. Still waiting on the XC
I've lost a few over that car. It'll happen, all good.
Pete, PLEASE don’t put those mirrors on that car PLEASE!!!
Ive been following you for years & love what you do. But Pete, you must have been sniffing way too many paint fumes if you think those mirrors are ok…😂😂😂

I know mate, but I'm a bit stuck with them... at least they are easy to replace when a more viable option arrives, cheers.

10.20pm Peter stop jumping from one job to another fix the door then move on your all over the place..
I went for the guard so I can fit it to the car, then turn it around to work on the other side. Sorry for the frustration, cheers.

Yes I do... and too much chatter!
