The reality is that women are hypergamous by nature... at every level they like to date a man of a higher social staus than them. There are studies that show this. For example millionaire women still don't want to date non-millionaire men.
Millionaire men don't care since money gives them more options, so they can be more picky ( they usually are) but they tend to date down- they are more HYPOgamous. The one explanation for hypergamy comes from the fact that in years and years ago women had to secure the BEST mate to protect and provide for her and their offsprings.
The number one cause of divorce is infidelity and the second is money, which proves that love and trust is still very much valued. Moreover, if you want to build a home and start a family money is important when you're dating. Today we live in a society where women have their independence, they are sexually liberated and don't think they need a man- they would rather ride the carousel and settle later (or so they say) we have our biological clock and a woman in her 30s is usually less desirable (by the "best" men) than when she is in her 20s. Furthhemore, women are fully capable of doing things men do but our innate strengths naturally differ, but I digress. Studies also show that alot of women who said they don't want kids and don't want families actually did want those things but have accepted the reality that doomed on them, that it may be too late. One thing worth touching on is that money comes and goes but creative intelligence doesn't. A person with creative intelligence can lose millions in a minute and be able to recreate that wealth in the next couple of years as they had aquired such mental framework. One last thing is we are still quite traditional despite all the changes society has faced... some men prefer their wives to stay at home and raise the kids as he may earn enough for that to be an option if she wanted to and equally some couples are happy to work and support their family together. I personally don't know what woman in her right mind wants to work 60-80 hours a week for the rest of her life and not dedicate any time to norturing children.
