Every guitar at my local Guitar Center is a “heavy relic”. It looks like they’ve all been played by someone wearing 60 grit sandpaper gloves.
Probably the same guy that stocks the produce at my local WalMart.

Don't worry about that pickup spacing. Doesn't matter really. None of EVH pickups were F spaced.

@@Livelaughlimpbizkit it makes a very slight difference. Visualize the pole pieces as strong flashlights. If you shine a flashlight directly at something, you'll be able to see it perfectly well. If you move the flashlight to the side just a bit, you'll still be able to see what you're looking at, but it won't be quite as clear. But as long as you can see it, it doesn't really matter.
Not sure if that was a very good explanation, was just trying to simplify it haha

Don't worry about the pickup not being F-spaced. It's mostly a aesthetic thing, since the string are still inside of the magnetic field of the poles, so sonically there's practically no difference.

@Denver Randy glarry has a very similar green burst strat. Super cheap but if you wanted to mod it to get similar results you could and do it for cheaper

I'm glad to see that Guitar Centers in other parts of the US are well stocked. The stores in Florida barely have any stock. The walls are usually bare.
Also from florida, down here in soflo it's the same.
Agreed, The Daytona store is pretty bare. The only one I was genuinely shocked by what they had would be the GC in Clearwater, and the one in Orlando is just okay.

Guitar center has always been cool to me
I like physical shops and the fact I can actually inspect the guitars. Same with smaller retail stores.

I was adjusting the pickups on my strat a while back and after pulling off the pick guard I saw that it has routing on it for humbucker in the neck and bridge position. Tonal possibilities!

I have that green fender Strat you played. Love it. I got mine when it was on sale for 600. Fantastic bang for the buck guitar. Mainly got it for the clean tones though and using for it blurs, funk, and some old old school rock

I bought one of those Epiphone Strat copies at a Guitar Center in Austin, TX a couple years ago and the action was high in the store. Figured I'd go home and make a truss rod adjustment but when I got home, the truss rod was completely broken. Lesson learned: always give the guitar a once over before leaving. Truss rod was tough cause you can't be popping truss rod covers off in the store but stuff happens. Anyway, that's a hell of a guitar you found. Glad it's just a nut and pick-up spacing! Subbed!

I always show up to guitar center around holiday times when they do 15-20 percent off. That’s the time to buy new. And nice dream theater there Ray that’s the old good stuff!

Also, you could use the opportunity to replace the stock nut for a TUSQ nut.
Back at ozzfest 04 in camden we went to cherry hill looking for the white castle from harold and kumar. Turns out that movie was filmed in Canada. We couldnt even find beer after 8pm in Cherry Hill
There is a Sam Ash literally two doors down from the GC. I spend many trips between the two! Brings me back...

I literally just got my first strat, always been a tele or les Paul player, took a while to get used to and a pickup change but I love it
I feel you on selling something and regretting it. That said there's a MIM player strat plus top in blue flame burst that Everytime I see one I gush over. Maybe one day I'll be able to pull the trigger and get it.

I enjoy these guitar hunting videos, Its something I frequently do with one of my roommates. we have 5 guitar centers in our area and a branch store with a few locations called Music Go Round that is a reseller of used instruments, each store usually has 40ish guitars and stock changes by the week. a ton of fun to find sweet deals around. my most recent find was an almost brand new LTD EC-257 with the plastic still on the pickups for $300.
One of these days I'm going to run into you at that Guitar Center! I played the same guitars except the one you bought haha!
I bought one of those professional strat back then, still have it. Mine is the two tone burst with the ebony board

The wood grain Epiphone was gorgeous af and I was surprised that you played hendrix on the strat that was sweet!
Congrats man, great purchase. Love the ebony board on it, you don't see that on many Fenders. The nut is an easy fix, but shouldn't be on "new" guitar. The only reason I don't own a strat is the volume placement I guess my technique is too clumsy😄, I always accidentally turn it of.

I used to go to that GC when I was in college down in south Jersey like 20 years ago. It was...okay. I much preferred the GC in East Brunswick.
Anyway, I wish Fender would make ebony fretboards a standard option on more of their instruments.
I moved out to the sticks. The people in the town I now live in are proud of once having the worlds biggest pile of dirt... Ray you making me homesick with this one. One thing I miss about Darby, are all the pawn and music stores in the area, Lou's pawn on 69th street, George's music in Springfield, Swarthmore music, Bryn Mawr and Haverford music, Sam Ash, and all the chain stores, like the one you're at today. btw well done getting the Silverburst. edit for kant spiel and so grammar natzi's don't get me.

It's funny, I was hunting for an HSS at Guitar Center and tried that Fender Player. It had that issue where the Humbucker sounds like you plugged into an entirely different amp. I went with the Nick Johnson Schecter and MAN was that a great choice. Wonderful, versatile guitar for mainstream rock and fusion.

Sick guitar! I had a brand new Ibanez premium with an unglued nut, all the tuners were loose, and poor plating on the saddles. I’m so glad I went with an E-II.
Anything ESP/LTD is better than everything that is not an ESP/LTD haha. My opinion, of course 😉

Best Guitar Center I have been to is the Hollywood California location. Other good ones are Chicago and Nashville. Congrats on getting the silverburst and with a proper restoration/upgrade that will be a killer guitar. Keep these Vlogs going Ray.

A number of years back, Cherry Hill used to carry some boutique brands. I remember grabbing a new Tom Anderson Cobra at a steal of a price. Damn if I regret selling that guitar.

I live about an hour from Cherry Hill and thats where I usually go when guitar shopping. I have GC that’s literally across the street where i live but the inventory isnt as good as Cherry Hills.. PS New to ur Channel! 🤘🏻
