I feel you man I have him and while I hated starscream I love this mine has none of the QC problems I dig his goofey g2 asctetic and the conehead headsculpt looks great to me
I disagree, I think the fact that the indent is smaller makes him look way more aeordynamic, speaking as someone who has no idea how aerodynamism works. He looks like an arrow, and the tail wings folding inwards is a unique choice that I respect and find cool.
Desert planes have desert colors to not be shot by other planes. And the colours here remind me of gulf war era RAF Tornados, with the MiG Eater coming to mind.
The remolding would have been done at the end of 2019. October at the earliest, November at the latest, so no Covid is not an excuse for any Earthrise figure being garbage.
@@DrLockdown Yeah no. The only figure we've seen so far that actually seems to be effected by the pandemic is MPM Optimus 2, cause that would have been pretty much entirely designed in 2020.
One thing that would have made me want this figure more is the addition of warning labels and little detsils like youd see on an irl jet . His paint scheme really reminds me of the migs that youd see flying over the skies of syria or afghanistan. Or even mocup migs like an agressor f-15, however skiping out on those warning labels just brought the figure down from vibrant to bare for its paint scheme
Those warning labels were actually on the unreleased G2 prototype, and Reprolabels have added it back in. They just wasted all the budget on making the camo paint actual paint, instead of a tampograph like Maverick. Jesus...can't believe I'm actually complimenting Maverick...
@@DrLockdown Personally i dont like maverick Instead of having a nice digital camo with tampographed details that adds to his tomcat mode, it makes the jet look like a rusted piece of junk waiting to be turned into scrapmetal at a boneyard. Which is not something i wanna say to a transformer that has one of my favorite jets for an alt mode. The lack of light purple was very disappointing. I really like the purple collar one of the prototypes had and I'm disappointed it didn't make it on this figure. I would paint this figure but I'm a little scare of messing it up.
I just hope that the rumors that the upcoming King Starscream is a minor remold in the right ways... Finally got into G1 character collecting, and Starscream's so low on my priority list because of how meh the ER mold is. The choice to reuse Classics' engineering continues to baffle me since there were other legit good engineering choices that got passed up, like T30 Arcee and CW Ultra Magnus. You know who would've been a good inspiration for a good Earth-based Seeker mold? TR Triggerhappy!
While I didn't handle G2 Sandstorm myself, I did manage to get the other unreleased G2 Conehead Cloudcover... at a clearance section in a Walmart for 10 American dollary doos. 10 USA dollars, in the year 2024, during Legacy and being at the Vogayer scale. And while the deco is better than Sandstorm (at least the blue plastic is better looking than the tan plastic)... it's still the flawed Earthrise Seeker mold, lack of waist swivel and all, Now if you excuse me, I'm going to pray that NewAge will get around to making the unreleased G2 Seekers with their Seeker mold. (and I'm planing to get the NewAge versions of the 3 OG Seekers because that mold looks awesome!)
Weird as it is, a plane being camo actually does make sense for planes designed to attack ground targets since you don’t want planes dedicated to fighting other planes spotting your plane from above. Useless military trivia aside tho, personally I just think that kind of deco is weird for G2, especially compared to the colours most toys of the time were...no neon? No contrasting colours? No gaudy camo? No “TRANSFORMERS” decals or anything? It’s just weird...

Generation 2 was released in the early 1990s, and what else had just happened around that time that had a major influence on the U.S.? The Gulf War. I noticed what seemed to be a MASSIVE spike in camo toys around that time, so perhaps Sandstorm was among the many things meant to capitalize on the U.S. military’s popularity at the time since it was fresh off a then-feel good victory. Could be pulling at straws, but wow there were a *lot* of camo toys coming out around then from toylines that didn’t feature it as much prior… Did a paper on this for Uni and was surprised by the results.
I personally never liked the Earthrise Seeker mold. The Tetrajet Seeker mold had to be my favorite ever. Siege Starscream is my only Starscream that is functional, since my Generations Legends Class Starscream’s leg broke off. Siege Starscream was a great design not trying to be completely G1, was articulated to hell and back, the Null Rays look unique and the Tetrajet alternate mode is SUPER nostalgic. When I saw reviews of the Earthrise Starscream, he was trying to look like G1 but failed where the drip was concerned, had so little articulation, the null rays were normal, albeit still good, and the F-15 alternate mode was flawed.
I bought this knowing what has been saif many times about him and I just dont see it, I personally like the boring ness of sandstorm, stands out from the rainmakers g2 ramjet and the others Edit: on the topic of the maverick, I just saw the movie and, it kind of made me want to get the figure, yes the jet that the toy was did appear in the film Spoilers (if you care) . . . . . . The jet appeared in the final battle and the clearish plastic is not very accurate however the “camo” is
Hasbro should do better with Seeker molds in the future so in my opinion the Siege seeker mold still is top notch and demolishes the Earthrise seeker mold.
Im gonna be a weird dude here, earthrise starscream actually is pretty good. I get that its just the classics figure, but having never experienced it, I actually think its good. The siege seekers have a frustrating experience with the tetrajet wings and the chest piece, specifically the clearance problems with the shell and the chest piece wouldnt stay on in transformation
I still really enjoy the earthrise coneheads despite not liking the mold more than siege, but I did always feel like this was a wasted selects slot. G2 colors, even when camo'd up are most fun when they're wacky and neon and this just isn't and kinda boring. Glad g2 ramjet is being done, still have the dumb hope of an actionmaster thundercracker.
I don’t really get why people take two entirely different opinions to make a point. Can’t someone just say “I don’t agree with most of your takes” and be done with it? When someone details why they feel a way but in response it’s just face value pushback, it comes off as somewhat immature
I actually quite like this mold, Conehead or not. The lack of a waist swivel doesn’t bother me because it’s not a joint I use much. People also make the nosecone on the back to be way more of a problem than it actually is, and while the colors are certainly a bit bland, he at least stands out. No other figures really have this color scheme. Neither the Siege nor the Earthrise Seeker is better than the other, and they are both good in their own ways. But I’m also the idiot who liked ER Arcee so my opinion is void
While I really dislike it, the nose on the back itself is fine. I just wish it locked in place; that's all. That's something I mentioned back in the Starscream review though, and bringing it up again would bog everything down.
I hope G2 ramjet is could be better that the earthrise seekers because evertime a seeker of this mold isn't as good or as good as the siege seeker mold.
Honestly, the conehead mold is so insanely disappointing to me. I love the coneheads, and they're rare to get :( these NEEDED to be much better than they are

At this point I'd say screw the sunbow design and just copy the enginering of the action toys machine robo eagle robo (go bots leader 1) emgo says that guy is more sleek and arrow dynamic, the classics mold just needs to get a rest, it and it's earthrise retool

If Hasbro decides to do the Seekers from Transformers Animated or Transformers Evergreen in Legacy, I seriously hope they start from the ground up so they can deliver on the posability and engineering like on the Siege and Newage versions and not give us a half baked retool and/or upscale of let’s say the Power of the Primes mold.
Basically, the same philosophy as Power Rangers Turbo, the post-FFX-2 stories in that setting, FF7R, and some other stuff: change a whole ton of shit that already worked "coz it's different, so that automatically means it's good". And combine that with the apparent slavish devotion to outdated accuracy and...yeesh, now I feel worse not seeing your teaser post's title on himbeing king of the trash. I DO like the sand colors, but it IS kinda bland. Like that Jimmy Neutron episode with the video in class about sand that put anyone who saw it instantly level of bland. If the upcoming King Starscream isn't a retool of ER Starscream in the right ways, however unlikely, then....it's gonna sting a lot, but for my CHUG Scream, ER Scream it will have to be. Don't worry, I don't care enough about his traditional brothers to get the 2-pack. Red Wing and Hotlink will be his new wingmen!
I'm happy with my siege seekers. I wish they just did more of those, and I'm hoping the upcoming SG Starscream is a tetrajet, but it's been a fun ride at least
It's a backpackformer. The only 'shell' bits are the wings, which is the same for every jetformer on the planet. The underside is pretty clean too, and the articulation is insane. Plus even if it is a shellformer, so? ROTF Prime is a shellformer? He's awesome. Shellformer =/= bad.
@@DrLockdown It's bad, because a Transformer is supposed to incorporate the bits from the robot into the alt mode. It's not very good when you can literally separate the two. Earthrise Arcee wasn't just panned because she's unstable as fuck, and needs partforming, but also because there's literally no transformation, you just fold the robot under the alt mode, that's what the seekers are. And the Tetrajet is supposed to be smooth underneath, so I wouldn't call it clean, it literally has legs sticking out of it. And I'm fine with taking liberties, I'm not a Geewunner, but this isn't taking liberty, this is compromise. If the transformation is already barely there, couldn't they at least put the effort into making the alt mode look good from all sides? The articulation I give you, but I'd rather have a toy that actually transforms AND has good articulation.
@@DrLockdown It's not a shellformer, but it's not good. The pylons are nice, but the rest of the robot is literally just there under the alt mode. It doesn't transform, his backpack does.

When I think ‘tan plastic’, I think of that plastic they use for those unpainted prototypes that you see in books about G1

seriously all they had to do was some how put a tab between the torso and add a mushroom peg that could allow for a full waist rotation.

I always folded the leg wings forward. It's not technically a cartoon character so why should his character module follow suit?
The bland colour scheme works in his favour, I reckon. Makes him look like a proper generic.

I DO like the sand colors, but it IS kinda bland. Like that Jimmy Neutron episode with the video in class about sand that put anyone who saw it instantly level of bland.
If the upcoming King Starscream isn't a retool of ER Starscream in the right ways, however unlikely, then....it's gonna sting a lot, but for my CHUG Scream, ER Scream it will have to be. Don't worry, I don't care enough about his traditional brothers to get the 2-pack. Red Wing and Hotlink will be his new wingmen!
I'm happy with my siege seekers. I wish they just did more of those, and I'm hoping the upcoming SG Starscream is a tetrajet, but it's been a fun ride at least
Best seeker molds in the last decade? It's literally a shellformer!
It's a backpackformer. The only 'shell' bits are the wings, which is the same for every jetformer on the planet. The underside is pretty clean too, and the articulation is insane.
Plus even if it is a shellformer, so? ROTF Prime is a shellformer? He's awesome. Shellformer =/= bad.
@@DrLockdown It's bad, because a Transformer is supposed to incorporate the bits from the robot into the alt mode. It's not very good when you can literally separate the two. Earthrise Arcee wasn't just panned because she's unstable as fuck, and needs partforming, but also because there's literally no transformation, you just fold the robot under the alt mode, that's what the seekers are.
And the Tetrajet is supposed to be smooth underneath, so I wouldn't call it clean, it literally has legs sticking out of it. And I'm fine with taking liberties, I'm not a Geewunner, but this isn't taking liberty, this is compromise. If the transformation is already barely there, couldn't they at least put the effort into making the alt mode look good from all sides?
The articulation I give you, but I'd rather have a toy that actually transforms AND has good articulation.
Eh. I can't agree with you on that. I don't even consider it a shellformer, when the pylons are incorporated wonderfully.

The pylons are nice, but the rest of the robot is literally just there under the alt mode. It doesn't transform, his backpack does.
