I recently attempted a new method of audio mixing. It kicks in about halfway through the video, and should help cut down on audio editing time whilst also fixing a long-standing issue. Apparently RUclips has been upping the volume levels on their ads, causing people to get ear-aches when the audio levels change between my videos and the advertisements. Please let me know if it works. I always strive to fix issues that arise.
I was so glad I waited for inferno. Inferno as a voyager is almost perfect. It honestly exceeded my expectations with it’s paint, mold, and articulation. It goes very well with my siege red alert and this mold is very underrated
You know what's REALLY weird? I was the first person to review Grapple. Not Prime vs. Prime, not TonTon, it was ME. Like, no one even TRIED to get a factory sample for early review points. I just got lucky and found him on Amazon.
The SPeedia 500 Hauler (AKA Green Grapple) has the foot peg fix, and the green, whlie vivid, doesn't obscure the detail as much as the orange. I don't know how availability is in Australia, but at least US Amazon now has them at discount rates, along with Wal*Mart that had the original exclusive deal.
I knew about grapples issue going in and was still excited to get him. Yes I had to do the fix because had I put in the peg on initial transformation, it would’ve broke. But I sanded it and tested it and it works perfectly fine. I agree that the mold is good but also agree that Grapples issue should NOT have happened at all. I hope to pick up Artfire sometime in the near future. Fingers crossed still that we may get Hauler like you said 😊
Another problem with the artferno release, I think, is that the hype for “obligatory and kinda generic red fire truck retool” only goes so far. That, and amidst the WOWers like Galvatron and cyclonus, and all the returning beast bots, the red fire truck was always kind of doomed to be overlooked. I don’t think grapple was the _only_ reason.
If I was to wish for one thing in the upcoming 2022 lineup of Prime and other figures, it's for the QC to be consistent across the line. I don't want to be playing lucky dip for figures costing minimum £17 over here in Tea land. Edit: Yeah, that design flaw is a fucking shambles, holy fuck, that's worse than I thought
I got Inferno the minute Wave 2 hit my local shelves, and I’m so glad I did. He makes a great companion piece for Thrilling 30s Whirl, surprisingly, his transformation is satisfying and simple, and he looks great in any pose I put him in. I honestly like him more than Dinobot, which is weird, considering I was more excited for him than Inferno. My only issue with him is the peg on the head box has stretched out the port on his head gun, so no double ladder blaster for me. Other than that, I’m fully happy with him, and I can’t wait for Red Alert.
I was waiting for Inferno from the begining. The only reason I have Grapple is because of an impulse buy. Did some smoothing on Grapples pegs as soon as I got him. Used some silver on Grapples mirrors and windscreen wipers to highlight those missing details. So the time I've had with both of them have been positive. Inferno is definitely the better figure and looks more dynamic in poses than Grapple.
26:00 well he's got more than grapple, as he's got everything except the claw, but also the ladder gun and water hoses, you could even count his head wings thingys
Fun fact: the “Night Stick” that comes with Artfire is actually Scourges’s Target Master Fracas. Likewise, the “Fracas” that comes with the Phantom Strike Squadron is Cyclonus’s Target Master: Night Stick.
I just got the grapple on a 60% sale, and literally the first thing I did before transforming it or playing was, sand the piece, and now it's perfect, doesn't get stuck and it's super easier to transform, if some of you gets this figure, make sure to do this before anything else
I'd honestly say that Grapple's peg problem is more so because of the length of them than anything, they are so long that anything besides absolutely straight force causes them to break, and I'd actually think they would have been weaker if they were completely solid. Doesn't really change the fact that they break so often, I've gotten lucky with mine, since I knew about the breakages, I just was always careful to pull completely straight so it never broke on my copy.
I have to disagree. Judging by the way reducing the thickness instead of the length makes it entirely functional, I have to put most all of the blame on the thickness. Plenty of pegs of equal or greater length (I’ve tried weaponizers, other figures’ guns, etc) demonstrate absolutely no problem in the same ports.
I went to Walmart yesterday and there were still some Grapples on discount there...oddly there were also some Dinobots, which sucks, because I already have those and that means that there were Infernos and I couldn't get one, damn it.
So glad someone else loves this mold as much as I do, Inferno really was a sleeper hit of Kingdom and I hope we get a hauler redeco out of them sometime
Just bought Hauler today, it feels like he may be the best of all worlds type situation. Has both the more enjoyable alt mode, and although the paint is deffo more on the minimal side, is perfectly satisfying and adds the right amount of break up. At worst the screaming face is a weird choice, but its at least well done and, funny. Quite happy I went with him! One thing i'm surprised you didn't mention is the joints feel great? One of the most buttery smooth figures i've handled. For a design that is literally like, 7 big boxes, he is insanely elegant in both pose-ablity and transformation.
I personally enjoy artfire a lot he’s the reason I even got the inferno mold in the first place my only gripe with him is his retail price here which is definitely a bit overkill for a voyager with a battle master other then that he’s fun
My grapple broke, i pulled out the broken thing and sanded down the other peg, i was frustrated and it was the first night i had it, but even with just one i have fun with him
Tbh I can't really relate, the mold is just boring to me. I love the sculpted detail but he just feels very average, Grapple is super under painted and while Inferno is a bit better, he still needs more. Still, more power to those who get enjoyment from the mold. And if Hauler happens, might buy it to be SG Grapple.
I have to agree with your point about first impressions. Ss86 hotrod with the tolerance issues in the arms and the transformation destroying the clear plastic on the back nearly put me off the whole line despite everything I did enjoy with the figure, but then I got grimlock and after how much I love him I'm tempted to get slug and wreck-gar.

Personally I'm glad they went with sunbow colors on grapple I won't say he didn't need something more to make him pop but I never like him having a black helmet for me it distracts from the rest of his design. My only issue is the toys facial expression I see what they are going for but it just isn't there.

I’m fine with the toon colors so your color rant doesn’t really matter to me. Color is subjective. I personally hate the new Bee’s yellow I actually got the Netflix version over the cybertron bee because I hate that specific shade of yellow.
Even if the cabs are terribly out of scale with everything, people should know by now that the WFC line aims for scale in bot mode. Huh, I see myself coming back to your videos. Guess that's a good thing. :) Though I add nothing of worth noting. Eh, that's life.
I recently got an earthrise grapple at a toy fair for 25 bucks. At first, I thought it was because it was earthrise grapple, but apon opening the box, I had realised that the seller was seeling it below retail value because the tab broke. I only bought it because it was the only version of the mould I had accessible to me and I really wanted the mould, so it wasnt the end of the world. I simply got a hair dryer at the foot, plucked at the tab with tweezers, got the tab to pull out, and now have a mostly functional figure. I wouldnt call the seller a scammer or anything, as the pre-broken tab was the only defect, and id say I got a decent deal for 10 dollars off.
I am so glad I shaved my ER Grapple's pegs because I knew about this problem when I got him for a nice price on Amazon a few months ago as it worked while taking hours to sand down.
Surprised you didn't emphasise the plastic density of Inferno compared to Grapple. Holding Inferno in hand, you can tell he was made with more solid material than Grapple.
I remember when I heard about Grapple's self destroying transformation and was worried about Inferno possibly getting the same half baked design/distribution/other Tomfoolery that made up Earthrise and a little of Kingdom. I'm glad Inferno and Artfire were given better treatment afterwards but I'm very undecided on whether I should pick Inferno up, seeing as I own a reissue of the original figure, and I think they just added more articulation to him. I just don't know if I'll enjoy him as much as others might, since he's nearly the same toy as the original. Don't get me wrong, Inferno looks amazing, I just don't want to disappoint myself with a purchase I think looks cool, but may not fully live up to expectations.
I always liked that gun, actually. It has a nice sort of sub-machine look to it. Very functional. I like when the design really evokes how it would fire.
Yeah, when I got Earthrise Grapple last year along with SS54 2007 Megatron, first thing I did upon taking him out the box was to file down the pegs at the sides with a nail file. And speaking of paint, I'm guessing that Grapple's claw, gun, and other black plastic components were all gang molded; the claw oughta be gray like the Masterpiece. As for Inferno...I'm probably gonna have to do like my wife did when she surprised me with Kingdom Rodimus Prime: hunt the McBastard down online (which I also had to do with SS86-4 Hot Rod, Siege Bluestreak, and 35th Anniversary Collection Siege Soundblaster).
23:50, I remember when this guy shelfwarmed during earthrise, bud come on man kingdom rerelease of arcee shelfwarms to this day. I think he has given this guy the boot as the biggest shelf warmer.
Artfire could work as Ghostbusters crossover repurpose if you want because of his red and white color scheme. Matter of fact, SwittCraft, a customizer and fan of Ghostbusters, converted his Artfire into "Ectofire" using some neon green ectoplasm paint apps His Targetmaster could also serve as a Neutrona Wand for some double barreled ghost snaring, or a ghost taser if you think the streams would cross if it emitted two.
Please, please, please don't be a stolen copy, I really do love this channel....... Edit: Oh, ok, thanks for the info☺ Not that I'd peg Dr. Loc as one who would get involved in that shit, but these days you never know...Anyways, yeah, besides Grapples peg flaw, I love this mold in all of its colors (Artfire is probably my favourite, but only by a little), and look forward to the future Hauler we have leaks for.
Yeah that's where I imported from. Robo robo, to be exact. The person who sells those stolen toys did contact me after that diagnosis insanity...to harass me...so yeah, that ain't happening. He can get fucked
a bad mold being fixed is almost worth losing out on the psychotic fire ant of the same name it would be great if we could have both but eh it is nice for a bad mold to finally live up to its potential
Artfire looks like a skull with a trail of blood behind it. At first I didn’t think that, but after seeing PerspectiveEnd’s thoughts on the reveals of Artfire, that’s all I can see.
I only got grapple(he's the one I had as a small child in 1985)and I can't stand repaints anyway.I sanded those 2 pegs down first thing and the fit perfect thank God for RUclips.
I only transformed my Grapple a few times and without breaking it by pulling the pegs straight up, and never resorting to wrenching it to the side. But it's in storage and will not be touched for a long time in fear of breaking it.
I'm glad that (if the leaks are true) we're getting that grapple but green (I forgot the name) because I want the mold and like grapples accessories the best
I painted firedrive myself, for Cyclonous. Sadly my kingdom Cyclonous is unable to hold a gun, and the joint tightener i bought for him on sept. 9th comes November 4th.
the one thing that's good about the Grapple molded at least it doesn't use clear plastic in a way that isn't going to compromise the figure down the line like the Hoist/trailbreaker and tracks/road rage mold which let's be honest those figure pretty much are wasting paint when if those clear plastic parts were just molding in the regular plastic they could have painted in the details which could have resulted in the figures looking way better.
It's a convention exclusive from a few years back: maketoys delta manus. You can probably still get the original, called 'striker manus', but you've probably missed the boat on this one. Reviewed it ages ago, so the format may be a bit different: ruclips.net/video/cnd-2QsnN9k/видео.html
Nope. I figured out an easy setting that mixes the audio automatically. People have been complaining that it's too quiet, as RUclips has recently been increasing the volume on advertisements.
Yeah no, my Grapple not only survived plenty of transformations without breaking, but after inspecting with a flashlight and magnifying glass, he has absolutely zero sculpting in the walls of the 5mm port. I got him during the summer of 2020, so perhaps they fixed it after the original run, but mine was perfectly ok, albeit very tight. I did end up trimming the peg a bit about a year ago to be easier to attach, but the idea that this is a “design flaw guaranteed to break” is just factually incorrect. Again, maybe it was for earlier runs of Grapple, but the one I got was just fine. I will concede, the thin attachment between the peg and the box for the crane arm does definitely make it more fragile. It’s a design flaw, but it is nowhere near as bad as you’re making it out to be tbh
dang, glad i decided to pick up that Inferno when I did since I tend to only buy one transformer per mold. Except for Deepcover because I forgot who that was when I found the box at EBGames
This video is kinda funny to watch in hindsight. Hauler happened. Cyberverse found its niche in the fandom despite season 1 being less interesting. Well, you’ve always preached that perceptions change.
Grapple was the figure I wanted the most from the Earthrise line and Hoist as well, I already had a Generations Wheeljack and I had ordered Exhaust, I was also still on the fence with Starscream (got him eventually, have his Siege as well) and got Cliffjumper because its Cliffjumper (may buy the upgrade kit for him because I'm sick of pulling out the back handle). Thanks to frequenting on Reddit, I knew about the peg before I got mine and sanded it down immediately, I also warned a work colleague who bought it for her nephew about the same issue, don't know about the results yet, keep forgetting to ask. And the funny thing is I bought both Grapple's and Inferno's kit for the arm and knee parts, just used the rest because I got them. I'm in the same general area as you and there was a place I wanted to look at that might have 3D copying, so that might solve the hose problem, but thanks to lockdown that's been near impossible. You could probably use the same upgrade kit for Inferno, just need to paint the toe section. Also three questions, did you paint Grapple's head yourself, if so how; and where did you get those cool stickers from?
Stickers are reprolabels, and yes I did paint it myself. Simple sanding job to get rid of the mould release agent, then a few coats of hand painted Tamiya black, and finally a topcoat
I have bought the Grapple figure 4 times where 3 were for customs and I have bought the inferno figure twice where one was for a custom as well and I have preordered Artfire and I plan on buying the recently leaked Hauler so yea I am very aware of every detail of this figure/mold lol
heartfire had the ladder?! Damn when my Inferno didnt have a ladder I just assumed none of them would. damn now i need to buy heartfire. gotta have my ladder truck.
I have grapple and inferno because I happened to get them, but I MUCH prefer the old versions, as they do scale infinitely better in vehicle mode. also I could give the classics inferno a ladder from cw Hotspot
I have both Grapple and Inferno (I don’t have Artfire because I usually shop on Amazon and American Amazon is failing it hard with the war on scalpers I mean $97 for a Galvatron Primus help me. Hell I was lucky to find an Origins Bumblebee at my local target heck it was the last one I. Stock.) but I like Inferno if nothing else then he in my opinion he pairs well with my Siege RedAlert it might also be because my buddy gave me his Inferno along with a bunch of other figures for helping him with his movie collection and the only reason I have Grapple is because he was the price of a studio series Deluxe on Amazon day for $18.86 and I’m a sucker for cheap scrap and Grapple stays in robot mode.
Seems about right. It's a battlemaster and a voyager, plus you have to take into account the increased price due to lower production numbers. I paid $65aud, but Aussie retail was $70-75
I got my Grapple used in box with all his accessories for $10. He had the same peg broken off in his foot still... a pair of needlenose pliers, sandpaper for said peg and gorilla glue... good (better than?) as new! Though I'm definitely getting upgrades for him. (stickers/fillers) So what's your take on the eye sore that is the predicted fluorescent green Road Hauler from the Velocitron series? LOL
Studio series Jetfire also breaks itself during transformation because the ratchets in the knees are too strong for the mushroom peg slot they are by so mine ended up breaking.
Never had that happen to me, and this is the first time I've ever heard of this. Meanwhile, grapple is so widespread that out of everyone I know, only two people have managed to keep their's intact without modifying them. One of them just resorted to never transforming him.
To be honest I think there was something wrong with the peg hole on the leg that made me have to squeeze it to get it into place for alt mode and that is probably what broke it but the ratchet was a little on the tight side too so it could have been a combination of the 2.
I got Inferno because I had the Power of the Primes one, because, well, we all know the situation with the Prime Wars Trilogy. The goddamm fucking repaints....
I remember my aunt gave me grapple for christmas last year and i was so terrified of breaking him that the first thing i did was fixing those pegs. Months later i like the figure overall but maybe i'll try some customs later down the line. I just hope i can find inferno because the deco just POPS (and i like firetrucks).
It's true no one talks about how great this mold was and I think your right grapple ruined it. That peg breaking off killed it for people I used to see grapple shelf warming every where. Rumor is were getting a Hauler as a walmart exclusive. So get ready to see it in green! lol. But maybe it will be well painted since it's suppose to be the line that takes over for the netflix line and those were painted well. Thanks for the grapple fix I sanded my down, still wont transform him since I'm scared he'll brake lol.
After Fasttrack being the only WFC figure I bought and genuinely hated - because of the orange plastic being so offensive to look at - I just won’t consider any orange Transformers. Which is a shame, as otherwise I’d definitely get Huffer. Even his repaint is orange! Although between the two of them you could get rid of all the orange plastic. Hmm…

Inferno is now retroactively a target-master now with Smashdown
I don't think smashdown is a targetmaster...more like a minicon
@@DrLockdown he's a targetmaster, and Inferno's to boot
Took me like 2 minutes to sand those pegs down?
Brb gonna pray to the Hasbro gods that Grapple gets released with the peg fix that Inferno has
"And go watch Scott the Woz instead."
That's basically my go to channel for when I don't know when to watch something that isn't Transformers related.
23:50, I remember when this guy shelfwarmed during earthrise, bud come on man kingdom rerelease of arcee shelfwarms to this day. I think he has given this guy the boot as the biggest shelf warmer.
Hi dude, just wondering, what’s with the blue prime?
Maketoys delta manus
Artfire could work as Ghostbusters crossover repurpose if you want because of his red and white color scheme. Matter of fact, SwittCraft, a customizer and fan of Ghostbusters, converted his Artfire into "Ectofire" using some neon green ectoplasm paint apps
His Targetmaster could also serve as a Neutrona Wand for some double barreled ghost snaring, or a ghost taser if you think the streams would cross if it emitted two.
Artfires released early in Singapore.
Yeah that's where I imported from. Robo robo, to be exact.
The person who sells those stolen toys did contact me after that diagnosis insanity...to harass me...so yeah, that ain't happening. He can get fucked
Of course it’s not stolen; Artfire has been widely available for a while now.
Not in Australia
@@johnl6192 no he hasn't, he's had an early release in Asia I guess, but hes not due to arrive in the western market until November as far as I know
a bad mold being fixed is almost worth losing out on the psychotic fire ant of the same name
it would be great if we could have both but eh it is nice for a bad mold to finally live up to its potential
BW Inferno is supposedly coming in Legacy. Plus if they want to complete the Season 1 cast they'll have to do him eventually.
I get why they did the g1 version first: it was easier since they had the mould
@@DrLockdown yeah though the beast wars one would have been nice too
Artfire looks like a skull with a trail of blood behind it. At first I didn’t think that, but after seeing PerspectiveEnd’s thoughts on the reveals of Artfire, that’s all I can see.
I only got grapple(he's the one I had as a small child in 1985)and I can't stand repaints anyway.I sanded those 2 pegs down first thing and the fit perfect thank God for RUclips.
at least Hauler is getting some love
If purchase this mold, sand down lip of tab to avoid breakage. okay, got it, noted.
Artfire’s an amazing figure. That said he’s already got the photodegredation woes.
I only transformed my Grapple a few times and without breaking it by pulling the pegs straight up, and never resorting to wrenching it to the side. But it's in storage and will not be touched for a long time in fear of breaking it.
If you modify the pegs you can avoid such pretty easily
I'm glad that (if the leaks are true) we're getting that grapple but green (I forgot the name) because I want the mold and like grapples accessories the best
Yeah I'm just glad we're getting him period. Weird and obscure characters with wacky colours like him (and Artfire too) are my jam.
Ngl, might buy all three and an extra grapple to make hauler (and obviously do the qc fix) given that the mold is decently cheap on the aftermarket.
Hey Dr.Lockdown! My Earthrise Smokescreen broke. What g1-styled Smokescreen should I get to replace it?
Sadly I'm not really sure. I've only really messed with earthrise and a KO of the MP. I'm not really knowledgeable on any alternatives
I'm definitely gonna pick up Artfire. I like the colors on him and Grapple was a great time (until the peg issue)
What is the figure at 0:04 ? It looks pretty cool and if it's not a custom where can I get one?
It's a convention exclusive from a few years back: maketoys delta manus. You can probably still get the original, called 'striker manus', but you've probably missed the boat on this one.
Reviewed it ages ago, so the format may be a bit different: ruclips.net/video/cnd-2QsnN9k/видео.html
@@DrLockdown dang, I might try to find the original cause the mold looks sick!
0:49 Hopefully not gold plastic ;)
Fortunately not
Doc’s mic sounds better than in previous videos, it may have been upgraded in a previous video.
You and I had the exact same reaction when our grapple pegs broke. It was the 2rd transformation i did and I was just done
To be fair, that reaction was scripted
This video is kinda funny to watch in hindsight. Hauler happened. Cyberverse found its niche in the fandom despite season 1 being less interesting. Well, you’ve always preached that perceptions change.
Hauler got leaked two days after I made this video.
So happy to have been wrong
@@DrLockdown that’s crazy timing, and couldn’t agree more
Grapple was the figure I wanted the most from the Earthrise line and Hoist as well, I already had a Generations Wheeljack and I had ordered Exhaust, I was also still on the fence with Starscream (got him eventually, have his Siege as well) and got Cliffjumper because its Cliffjumper (may buy the upgrade kit for him because I'm sick of pulling out the back handle).
The ladder appears upside-down
I have bought the Grapple figure 4 times where 3 were for customs and I have bought the inferno figure twice where one was for a custom as well and I have preordered Artfire and I plan on buying the recently leaked Hauler so yea I am very aware of every detail of this figure/mold lol
I became careful with my earthrise Grapple especially the peg breakage issue so the simple trick I did is gently wriggle the peg out
heartfire had the ladder?! Damn when my Inferno didnt have a ladder I just assumed none of them would. damn now i need to buy heartfire. gotta have my ladder truck.
Awesome review!
I have grapple and inferno because I happened to get them, but I MUCH prefer the old versions, as they do scale infinitely better in vehicle mode. also I could give the classics inferno a ladder from cw Hotspot
I do like henkei inferno, but I much prefer the transformation and articulation on the newer versions
@@DrLockdown same, but classics looks so much better in vehicle mode, especially in a group shot. with the ladder especially
I do agree it's more cohesive, but I prefer the profile on the newer one. I also never really cared for scale
@@DrLockdown they are both really good in their own way, there is a reason I got both. Love the articulation especially on the new guys it's crazy
random question, but where did you get your back piece for WFC Optimus?
eBay
Is artfire worth $40 usd? ($57.89 Australian dollars if the google converter is correct)
Seems about right. It's a battlemaster and a voyager, plus you have to take into account the increased price due to lower production numbers. I paid $65aud, but Aussie retail was $70-75
I really really hope when they do Hauler he won’t have the peg issue
I got my Grapple used in box with all his accessories for $10. He had the same peg broken off in his foot still... a pair of needlenose pliers, sandpaper for said peg and gorilla glue... good (better than?) as new! Though I'm definitely getting upgrades for him. (stickers/fillers)
So what's your take on the eye sore that is the predicted fluorescent green Road Hauler from the Velocitron series? LOL
Puns are much tamer than dark jokes here on this shit platform
Would you give Artfire a different score now that his figure has been found to yellow like Shattered Glass Starscream does?
Mine fortunately hasn't that much, so not really
dang thats a shame about grapple, they did fix the problem on his recolours but i only want grapple
I haven't broken my copy of Grapple, I just wiggle the pegs out, gonna sand them down just to be safe though
I'm kinda surprised at a comparison video for this model when just the other day they announced their making a Hauler version for next year.
Really where? I need a link please.
Me too. I've seen no such rumours of such. I'd be overjoyed if they were making one though
guess who's going next to devastator
@@chriscarpenter3370 Menasor.
@@DrLockdown ya funnily enough I have had my grapple since 2020 and I haven't even been gentle with it and it hasn't broken YET.
To be honest I think there was something wrong with the peg hole on the leg that made me have to squeeze it to get it into place for alt mode and that is probably what broke it but the ratchet was a little on the tight side too so it could have been a combination of the 2.
Well that makes three cases now, compared to hundreds of breakages I'm aware of.
So good luck.
@@DrLockdown thanks.
11:10 I'm sorry, that was TOO funny! 😂😂😂
I got Inferno because I had the Power of the Primes one, because, well, we all know the situation with the Prime Wars Trilogy. The goddamm fucking repaints....
Mine's been turned into rescue bots heatwave. I still really like the mould
I could actually see this new mold for a non-combining Hot Spot.
After watching PerspectiveEnd, I now think that the spiky thing that Grapple and Inferno wields is canonically called The Punch Dildo.
If I ever get this mold, I'm going to use the file tool on my dad's Leatherman to get rid of the tooth on those leg pegs to minimize damage.
That works too. It's a super easy fix
I wish someone did an upgrade kit to make the head black. Painting it works, but chipping sucks
@@DrLockdown Yes. Even if i don't use kits that much, it would be really cool.
Hmm…
Didn't get fasttrack, but I did enjoy black riroritchi.
Ah someone else who hates puns. A man after my own heart.
11:08 that actually happened to my second copy to. my first copy was fine except the loose sholder forward and back and out and in. i tried fixing the sholder but no still looser to shit.
