Speaking as someone who owns the G1, I feel like Doubledealer is a figure saved in many ways by its gimmick. The twin Powermasters not only add in a distinct fun factor, offering up 3 figures in one and the novelty of each Powermaster unlocking one a different alt mode, but the functionality of Powermasters also gives each mode a feeling of solidity that is seemingly lacking here. It's a genuine shame, as Doubledealer was the figure I was MOST excited for in Earthrise, as he's one of my favorite G1 bots.
I don't know if it's just me but Doubledealer's missile carrier mode kinda looks like G1 Stalker's alt mode. P.S love ur vids, can't wait to see how much your gonna tear this figure apart(writing this a day before premiere).
And stalker was repainted into machine wars soundwave and g1 soundwave has a tape deck. 🤔 if did that I would like the bird parts to be decoed like lazerbeak.
You seem to have missed many of the actual steps and features that they are meant to go. For the bird mode, youre supposed to clip the whole missile on the back with the ramp piece pegging into the ports to make tailfeathers. Thats how the instructions show them. So yes, the missile and ramp can be attached to the top at the same time. I bought him and i love him greatly.

It's not even bigger, it's a hair taller than ER Prime. Hell Sixshot has 6 modes and doesn't even have half the faults of Doubledealer meanwhile it IS a full leader class size.
I actually really enjoy the figure and it has a lot of playability. The one thing that is terrible, the legs. Just horrible to transform into the bird mode and for some reason the holes that the peg into the side on mine are not the right size. Nothing that a little sanding can’t fix but it’s annoying but it has to be addressed out of a box. A very good representation of the G1 toy.
That thing is like a phased array radar for the missile launcher...I think. Phased Array plates look roughly like that and it a makes sense due to it being a launcher vehicle.
i dont think the ramp connector piece of the partsfoprming part is supposed to cannect as it makes his tailfeathers (which could have been added in as a way to cover the hollowness) and the hands could have at least done something
I get where you're coming from, you have points..... I still wanna get him though, none of those problems bother me too much. Only thing I can really say I disagree with you on is that on a missile truck thing, it'd make sense for there to be like, some kind of bits there... like, I'm not too familiar with that kind of vehicle, but they do look like something it would have. It's just a shame, considering there is a flat side to that arm, that they couldn't just let that arm bend backwards and forwards so you could twist it around, then just put a hole on the smooth plastic arm piece where the fists wind up. Extra Siege port, and now it doesn't look like too much of a mess, and you'd really only have to remove materials to make it work. Of course he's nowhere close to perfect, but something about the goofiness of double dealer makes me cut him a little more slack, cuz somehow he winds up looking cool anyway. Honestly.... I gotta say, I'm rethinking it, and I really don't think the truck mode is that bad, it's mostly cohesive to my eye, that little gap in the blue bits didn't bother me much, I feel like of exposed heads, it's not really that bad of one, it's not like his actual face is sitting out the back. The link up parts-forming ramp thing I get in vehicle mode, because it's like so he can attach to a base for stability, which kinda feels like something a big artillery vehicle would do. I guess if I had to pick the biggest problem with that mode, it's that they shoulda made that flap that the missile sits on a ratchet or something.
I think that double dealer would work better if the bird mode was scrapped, heck I never knew it had a bird mode until I watch a commercial advertising the g1 toy
I legitimately do not understand how people can say Astrotrains Shuttle mode is his worst one. Man that CRUSHES the train. The Shuttle mode is awesome. It's got a slightly gnobbly mid section. Mean while the train has no cab, a front section that squishes down in a way it never should and gaps everywhere.
Proportionally maybe, but I'm going off cohesion. Then shuttle mode has a bit too much jank for my taste. Still like it though, and still waiting for someone to upscale that figure
My theory is that this was originally a titans return toy, since the articulation joints looks like they're from the titans return era. It was cancelled and they just remade it for earthrise..

Really wish I had seen this in Spring 2023 when I decided to grab this guy off of Amazon. Was really impressed by Legacy's Blitzwing earlier in the year despite being small, having useless bits and a compromised jet mode which I didn't even mind much. Engineering was brilliant, plastic quality was great and he had superb articulation. TBF Earthrise is quite a bit older but for similarly priced figure Double Dealer is an absolute disappointment all around. I can forgive the missile truck/bird as compromised as they are as they look about as accurate and nicely detailed as the G1 iteration but the bot mode for this guy is where he fails hard. Absolutely agree with everything from the waist up, but legs despite being too short/hollow have the worst double hinging I've ever seen on a TF. And yes I did pop the leg out during transformation. After some disassembly miraculously wedged it back in place without breaking it which surprised even me. The only saving grace I guess is the hinge is only needed for bird mode so truck and robot are easy enough. Great point about the next to useless accessories as aside from the rocket, and maybe gun it would have been better to see more of the budget go into a better leg design.
You do know your suppose to tab the tail into into the pegs of the missile right and then plug the black clip on the missile to double dealer? Still doesn't stop it from being parts forming but it helps alot more that way at hiding the hollowness of the back of bird mode And is it still bad to buy this figure at 50% off? I don't think so and i love my half off double dealer with very badly damage packaging lol
The weird thing is a radar detector as I understand, something a missile truck like this would likely have. Either way though, yeah, this figure is a mess. I tend to be very lenient on figures, hence me making almost only positive reviews on my channel, but I legit can't think of enough good points to this thing to make a video on. Loose joints, bad engineering, and the only GOOD accessories are locked away in an exclusive pack of 4 micromasters. Also, for what it counts, I hear most people being.... okay with the T30 mold, it's more the Blitzwing original that people hate cause of rampant QC issues on that release and terrible yellow paint keeping the face gimmick from working unless you take the entire head apart just to scrape off the paint on the peg.
I agree with you. We could have gotten a better Doubledealer. We could have gotten a non elusive Bumblebee or Soundwave. WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN A POWERMASTER OPTIMUS PRIME, FOR GOODNESS SAKE! But Hasbro certainly didn’t give a flying fuck. THIS SHITSHOW WAS PROBABLY UNDER THE BUDGET, IT IS THAT BAD!
Actually I reckon it's worth the price of admission in terms of plastic and engineering: it's just bad. Not to worry. Fans hobby is giving it a shot. I know they're not in the same ball park in terms of pricing, and comparing the two is reductive, but I'm still super excited to finally get a proper update

Yeah that would've actually made the Prime Masters worth something, although I don't mind the tape gimmick. Seems from the response of this video opinions are actually more mixed than I anticipated. Mayhaps Hasbro will see it's not perfect after all.
This was my first G1 styled toy, considering that it lead me to ER Snapdragon (10/10 imo). In comparison to the rest of the line, this figure is hot ass
Welp the day of reckoning has come. But on a more opinionated note on the figure. It’s... alright. Is it the best leader class of the siege/earthrise line.I would be lying if I said yes. Astrotrain and prime easily outclass him.The biggest problem with him for me at least is definitely the hollowness that I felt could’ve been dealt with if they didn’t give him those 3 extra accessories. Or downscaling him if you want to keep them can work. Sure they are other flaws like the wheels being a bit too small for my liking and the arms being loose but like I say it’s alright. Not bad. Not good. Just alright. But then again maybe it’s because I have no connections to the character could be why I think that. Overall doubledealer is a 3/5 and is definitely the weakest leader class of siege earthrise and maybe kingdom.
honestly, my opinion is the complete opposite. I really like double dealer do to his articulation, cool sculpt and the weapons he comes with are a lot of fun. also I like his missile truck mode and I find the ramp section a cool addition. his bird mode is quite stupid looking and the hollowness on the back is pretty bad but I find the mode quite funny when posed with other figures so, it gets a past from me. one thing I definitely agree with is that his transformation between modes is pretty bad , especially the legs. still though, that wasn't enough to ruin my enjoyment with figure. also, good video and keep up the good work 👍
This figure is my favourite though. I found it on sale when it was Christmas. But yeah a lot of people trashed this figure. Even though reviews of it said that it was one of the worst figures ever, I still love it. Also,the back flaps can fold as long as you hold it while folding it. It will hide the head on the military tank. I don’t know what that block is though. But they just wanted to give him an additional accessory. I think it’s some sort of…GPS?
@@DrLockdown Oh I was more so referring to the general aesthetic of all the modes. Like, the OG toy has its charm, but it's an antiquated relic of the 80s. Trying to pass off this blocky chicken in 2020 just doesn't sit right with me. A 2011 CHUG design philosophy would have done something interesting with the character Im sure. I mean, just look at Darkmount and Skullgrin.
Maybe they should've changed his truck mode into a cab with a trailer, the cab transforms into the bird and the two combined transform into the robot mode. It could've been commander class too.
I wonder if this mould had been more successful if HasTak would have considered retooling it into a Deathsaurus figure since it has a chest area and turns into a bird thing
Please tel me you ripped him a new one, I had the chance to get him early, took one look at the figure and bought sigie sideswip, hound and ss domt Soundwave instead. Also as shockwave later the same day, great figures and I don't regret the decision.
A great decision! Siege Sideswipe and Studio Series Shockwave are amazing, Hound and SS Soundwave are pretty good. Yesterday, I went to target, and saw SS Blitzwing and Siege Thundercracker on shelves, right next to DoubleDealer. You best believe I picked up the voyagers, and since there was a deal, I got $8 off, so I got them all for nearly the same price!
I mean sideways almsot completely forgotten by hastak, punch still stuck in potp mold(hopefully legacy pointblank can be retool to him since counterpunch and him almost have the exact bot mode)and then we had double dealer, why double agent seem didnt get enough love by hastak
Highly disappointing figure. Wish he was a reimagining from the ground up like all my favorite generations figures. A doubledealer with a licensed vehicle mode and a good condor mode that actually resembled a condor and not a short necked turkey. (Turkeys are still good bois though, just not the desired borb)
I still remember being happy to getting this hunk of junk. And then I cried internally with every single step of the transformation. I don’t remember a single part of that transformation correctly to this day. And I hate everything about the toy except the plastic and colors

I have the thrilling 30 mold and the new one. I actually like the thrilling 30 one . I think the mold fot him much better than blitzwing. That being said, im debating returning or selling the ER version after watching this review. I haven't opened it yet.
I have to put a caveat on SS86 Hot Rod's engineering. I'd argue it's TOO complicated, and unnecessarily so. I'm actually glad Kingdom Rodimus is avoiding that engineering, because from what I see of Hot Rod, it's not the fun kind of complexity, and the result is a bit subpar for what the complex engineering is supposed to achieve. I don't believe he needed to have a faux chest, so good thing Rodimus isn't doing that. Siege Astrotrain is still CHUGGING AWESOME, size be damned. He'll just have to be the shrimp between him, Blitzwing, and Octane, sadly. As for the actual main event....okay, any semblance of thinking he looked cool enough to possibly overcome any lack of knowledge or attachment to the character, as was the case with Titans Return Octane or Legends Nightbird Shadow, was blasted Starscream-style, because YEEESH!

Bummer. 2020 is ironically terribly out of focus. I don’t mind parts forming too much. I do mind the increased prices for worse stuff. Astro train could have covered his butt. Double d could have come with knock and scar. Oh well. I have the original and it’s fun in a silly 80s way
I saw enough of this one when I saw it in box to know that I didn't want to waste any money on it. I had no G1 attachment which might allow me to turn a blind eye to the horrible engineering....
I still like the Look of the robot mold and he wrote some of his flaws I do like the vehicle mold but the bird mod is the one that I feel has the most compromises mostly due to the not really in a good spot to put the weapons on and awful feet transformation takes about 30 minutes to get 1 foot peg in properly and feel like the hinges in the legs are going to snap and looks very hollow in robot mode which gets really annoying. the main reason I own this guy is recent ollies in the USA got the him and Earthrise prime for 20 bucks A each basically when leader class figures for the price of a deluxe can I pass again both of them

With me I have two G1 versions and 2 Generations versions off Doubledealer, they're enough for myself. I don't trust the plastic tolerances on this latest version and the price is ridiculous as well...
This is pretty bad especially when the far superior bird transformer exists at a deluxe class price and him being a leader class means it is inexcusable I mean really airrazor is way better

It's a shame, but someone in a forum (and apparently the ONLY person in that thread who actually understood the topic while everyone else *willingly* threw their brains to the Pit, even after the guy laid it out clearly) at least guessed that the brand unification thing is an attempt to combat the sort of false competition Hasbro was having with Takara with for that very reason: people were just buying the Takara versions coz they had the better work, especially deco, among other things. Can anyone verify that? But otherwise, it's what makes the most sense in explaining the whole dealio.

He's allowed to dislike partsforming if he wants to, it's his opinion. I personally don't hate partsforming as long as it isn't poorly executed (see earthrise ironhide).
Actually most lines have progressed beyond the need for partsforming. Whether you're okay with it or not, the partsforming is a step down from other generations lines. G1 mirage snaps in half. Should the generations toy do the same?
I was almost tempted to pick this guy up back when he came out but passed him up, mostly just because I have no real attachment to the design or character. In hindsight, I realize I really wasn't missing out on much lmao.

The bird tail pegs into the guns pegs, and the gun has a clip on it that connects to the legs. it still looks like shit, but it is much more secure.

You do know your suppose to tab the tail into into the pegs of the missile right and then plug the black clip on the missile to double dealer? Still doesn't stop it from being parts forming but it helps alot more that way at hiding the hollowness of the back of bird mode
And is it still bad to buy this figure at 50% off? I don't think so and i love my half off double dealer with very badly damage packaging lol
The weird thing is a radar detector as I understand, something a missile truck like this would likely have. Either way though, yeah, this figure is a mess. I tend to be very lenient on figures, hence me making almost only positive reviews on my channel, but I legit can't think of enough good points to this thing to make a video on. Loose joints, bad engineering, and the only GOOD accessories are locked away in an exclusive pack of 4 micromasters.
Also, for what it counts, I hear most people being.... okay with the T30 mold, it's more the Blitzwing original that people hate cause of rampant QC issues on that release and terrible yellow paint keeping the face gimmick from working unless you take the entire head apart just to scrape off the paint on the peg.

We could have gotten a better Doubledealer. We could have gotten a non elusive Bumblebee or Soundwave. WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN A POWERMASTER OPTIMUS PRIME, FOR GOODNESS SAKE! But Hasbro certainly didn’t give a flying fuck. THIS SHITSHOW WAS PROBABLY UNDER THE BUDGET, IT IS THAT BAD!

I have a KO g1 Doubledealer too, when I saw his pics I was really dissapointed. It feels like it went from a Blurr to a Brawn kind of proportions :s
Also although the gimmick is admirable I would've prefered he holded Prime Masters :s

Welp the day of reckoning has come.
But on a more opinionated note on the figure. It’s... alright. Is it the best leader class of the siege/earthrise line.I would be lying if I said yes. Astrotrain and prime easily outclass him.The biggest problem with him for me at least is definitely the hollowness that I felt could’ve been dealt with if they didn’t give him those 3 extra accessories. Or downscaling him if you want to keep them can work. Sure they are other flaws like the wheels being a bit too small for my liking and the arms being loose but like I say it’s alright. Not bad. Not good. Just alright. But then again maybe it’s because I have no connections to the character could be why I think that.
Overall doubledealer is a 3/5 and is definitely the weakest leader class of siege earthrise and maybe kingdom.

I really like double dealer do to his articulation, cool sculpt and the weapons he comes with are a lot of fun. also I like his missile truck mode and I find the ramp section a cool addition. his bird mode is quite stupid looking and the hollowness on the back is pretty bad but I find the mode quite funny when posed with other figures so, it gets a past from me. one thing I

Actually in the missile, there are two connectors that hold on the back hollow part of the legs, making it look cleaner.
This figure is my favourite though. I found it on sale when it was Christmas. But yeah a lot of people trashed this figure. Even though reviews of it said that it was one of the worst figures ever, I still love it. Also,the back flaps can fold as long as you hold it while folding it. It will hide the head on the military tank. I don’t know what that block is though. But they just wanted to give him an additional accessory. I think it’s some sort of…GPS?

The alt modes look bad at first but if you look at the g1 it's 1 to 1
This is the logical extreme of adhering to G1 accuracy for the sake of G1 accuracy.
Actually giving the G1 toy articulation would be pretty good in this instance. The problem is they buggered the joints and locking mechanisms
@@DrLockdown Oh I was more so referring to the general aesthetic of all the modes. Like, the OG toy has its charm, but it's an antiquated relic of the 80s.
Trying to pass off this blocky chicken in 2020 just doesn't sit right with me. A 2011 CHUG design philosophy would have done something interesting with the character Im sure.
I mean, just look at Darkmount and Skullgrin.

Please tel me you ripped him a new one, I had the chance to get him early, took one look at the figure and bought sigie sideswip, hound and ss domt Soundwave instead. Also as shockwave later the same day, great figures and I don't regret the decision.
A great decision! Siege Sideswipe and Studio Series Shockwave are amazing, Hound and SS Soundwave are pretty good. Yesterday, I went to target, and saw SS Blitzwing and Siege Thundercracker on shelves, right next to DoubleDealer. You best believe I picked up the voyagers, and since there was a deal, I got $8 off, so I got them all for nearly the same price!

Highly disappointing figure. Wish he was a reimagining from the ground up like all my favorite generations figures. A doubledealer with a licensed vehicle mode and a good condor mode that actually resembled a condor and not a short necked turkey. (Turkeys are still good bois though, just not the desired borb)

I have the thrilling 30 mold and the new one. I actually like the thrilling 30 one . I think the mold fot him much better than blitzwing. That being said, im debating returning or selling the ER version after watching this review. I haven't opened it yet.

I have to put a caveat on SS86 Hot Rod's engineering. I'd argue it's TOO complicated, and unnecessarily so. I'm actually glad Kingdom Rodimus is avoiding that engineering, because from what I see of Hot Rod, it's not the fun kind of complexity, and the result is a bit subpar for what the complex engineering is supposed to achieve. I don't believe he needed to have a faux chest, so good thing Rodimus isn't doing that.
Siege Astrotrain is still CHUGGING AWESOME, size be damned. He'll just have to be the shrimp between him, Blitzwing, and Octane, sadly.
As for the actual main event....okay, any semblance of thinking he looked cool enough to possibly overcome any lack of knowledge or attachment to the character, as was the case with Titans Return Octane or Legends Nightbird Shadow, was blasted Starscream-style, because YEEESH!

I saw enough of this one when I saw it in box to know that I didn't want to waste any money on it. I had no G1 attachment which might allow me to turn a blind eye to the horrible engineering....

I still like the Look of the robot mold and he wrote some of his flaws I do like the vehicle mold but the bird mod is the one that I feel has the most compromises mostly due to the not really in a good spot to put the weapons on and awful feet transformation takes about 30 minutes to get 1 foot peg in properly and feel like the hinges in the legs are going to snap and looks very hollow in robot mode which gets really annoying. the main reason I own this guy is recent ollies in the USA got the him and Earthrise prime for 20 bucks A each basically when leader class figures for the price of a deluxe can I pass again both of them
He's not so bad if you get him on a deep discount, like $25.
Unlikely to ever be a price for him, given leaders here are $90.

With me I have two G1 versions and 2 Generations versions off Doubledealer, they're enough for myself. I don't trust the plastic tolerances on this latest version and the price is ridiculous as well...

It's a shame, but someone in a forum (and apparently the ONLY person in that thread who actually understood the topic while everyone else *willingly* threw their brains to the Pit, even after the guy laid it out clearly) at least guessed that the brand unification thing is an attempt to combat the sort of false competition Hasbro was having with Takara with for that very reason: people were just buying the Takara versions coz they had the better work, especially deco, among other things.

Parts forming has existed since the G1 transformers. So get the F over it. G1 Optimus Prime for example.
He's allowed to dislike partsforming if he wants to, it's his opinion. I personally don't hate partsforming as long as it isn't poorly executed (see earthrise ironhide).

Actually most lines have progressed beyond the need for partsforming. Whether you're okay with it or not, the partsforming is a step down from other generations lines.
