I don’t really like any of the hyper cartoon accurate MPs, at least from photos, I don’t collect MP, but I like the look of this guy’s robot mode. I didn’t like it at first, but now I do.
@@DrLockdown From reviews and people who have messed with the figure say he is extremely solid and sturdy without any insulting QC issues like MP-52, though the paint is extremely thick and can scratch in some areas. Most importantly the transformation from robot to jet mode can be a nightmare without any proper transformation guide (the reviewers who transformed DS-001 by pure instinct were struggling on it), but users in TFW2005 who took their time with all the joints and watched some recent transformations videos, said that it's not really frustrating and can be fairly intuitive if one knows how the joints work. For example: the transformation of the chest/cockpit section and Starscream arms were a pain for those that didn't know that the chest could open easily using the ab-crunch or angling just a bit the arms down as lever to unlock more easily the neck section; and the arms are in an assembly with screws that need to match up and in that step appears as the figure suffers from clearance issues, fortunately in TFW a guy posted that the hinges can angle down in an L form and then rotate up so that the screws will be facing on the same side without all the unnecesary fiddling. I apologize for all the text, but i thought it could come in handy for you before transforming DS-001 and i hope that your copy will have no QC problems
i have watched this video multiple times, right now i am watching it with my legacy voyager soundwave and guess what, it has the same problem Lockdown has.it has a the left shoulder pin joint that wasn't punched correctly or the little tiny thruster thing wasn't pinned correctly. If you are wondering what that means, just think of it like this, the thruster is at an ever so slight angle putting stress not only on the pin, but the hole it is in. it can't sit flush with the top where you swing it around for either of the 4 modes (there are 2 secret modes). also the right side thruster is perfectly fine. thanks for the shawty qc hasbro. also going to mention this here as well, my armada starscream that i pre ordered, came with a missing screw, at the back of the head on the figure, it is okay since the face plate has a secure grip, but wtf hastak?
I just realized, it’s even more retarded to make you buy Skywarp and Thundercracker to get the coronation gear after realizing they weren’t even in that scene. Starscream threw them overboard.
I already didn’t want to get this before it came out, because of those weird proportions with the large chest, short shins, and large feet it just looks bad,and that’s not even getting to the face.
It's the risk we run when we preorder the 1st release of a new toy we get all the problems . For sure we shouldn't it should never have made it out the doors faulty but I've got the MP60 next to me so I'm hoping this one's okay problem wise !
Interesting thing i wanna point out The manuvering thrusters are innacurate to the real life f-15 eagle. those thruster nozzles are fixed in place on every eagle and only open and close, and the jets that have em are russian mig's and sukhoi's
@@DrLockdown yup, inaccurate. But if I do wanna make a very far out guess, Starscream wanted his Alt mode to be the best version of the F-15 as possible, so he made his thrusters be able to do Thrust vectoring (the term for when the thrusters are able to move around like that) though I thought this was a licenced alt mode for God's sake
Great points. This puts things in perspective even a little more - the zeta toys unicron is a beautiful piece (in my opinion). Made extremely well and great sculpt .. also Four times the size as this piece of garbage.…. It is still $50 less (at showZ) then takara starscream. Grapple was the key moment I started HATING the slavish cartoon accuracy. Here you have a figure that originally did have waist articulation now have it taken away simply to move the tires oh so slightly to be cartoon accurate. Bring back Hasui, the Lambo's and Datsuns are fantastic. ... and release Deep Cover to complete the range and FINALLY make Mirage, I can happily stop collecting MP's then.
Hasui basically did the majority of the WFC line. If you want his style, you can still get it, only for less of a hefty price tag. The new dinobots are his work too, which is why they turned out so well

This to me is one of the best Starscream figures out there on the market. The proportions are very faithful to the animation, the transformation (albeit unorthodox) is very inventive, satisfying, and refreshing-just look at the way the nosecone radar is utilized to form a clean backpack and how the tail wings tuck away into the main wings. Absence of waist swivel is fine as the figure has excellent poseability and excellent modes. Just an ingenious figure overall.
Do you think even the wings transformed wrong (since you fixed it as you said), do you think it's a little better on the back after fixing it? Or it's still a piece a shit?
how dare you disrespect kawamori's work, he was the one who DESIGNED the original F-14 Jet robo for takara in the first place. all of his designs are perfect

I got mine last week. It came early. No QC issues on my end
@@DrLockdown Glad to hear it's good
i have watched this video multiple times, right now i am watching it with my legacy voyager soundwave and guess what, it has the same problem Lockdown has.it has a the left shoulder pin joint that wasn't punched correctly or the little tiny thruster thing wasn't pinned correctly.
Yeeesh glad I opted not to throw this one on the birthday list. QC AND build issues this rampant and crippling on a $350 fig is totally inexcusable.
Hell that's a save on money.
ER Starscream might be a better choice and way more affordable.
@@_V.Va_ I actually ended up finding Selects G2 Ramjet at a local shop and he is an absolute treat. Far from perfect, but the deco is sublime.
@@grantmorgan5180 And for the price, you can never go wrong!
Hasbro may not 100% hit the mark with their figures but when they do good they DO GOOD.
With that price you can buy most of the tetrajet lineup too
@@DrLockdown Yknow I have been eyeing Redwing and that SG Screamer is a beauty.
Well I'm definitely getting Thundercracker if the issues get fixed with them
Every jetformer has a undercarriage besides well triggerhappy which basically masks it as a spacejet detail
I'm hoping to cop DS-001 it looks kinda rad
I've got my preorder in
he's quite good to me. best part of the video is that diamondbolt made a cameo
It's the risk we run when we preorder the 1st release of a new toy we get all the problems . For sure we shouldn't it should never have made it out the doors faulty but I've got the MP60 next to me so I'm hoping this one's okay problem wise !
Well there is the Cyberverse Scout Seeker mold where the Gerwalk mode is the alt mode.
Interesting thing i wanna point out
The manuvering thrusters are innacurate to the real life f-15 eagle.
those thruster nozzles are fixed in place on every eagle and only open and close, and the jets that have em are russian mig's and sukhoi's
Huh. So it really is pointless. Wow.
What sucks even more- the more I have this figure and mess with it, the more I don’t like it.
Looking forward to Deformation Space Starscream.
ya know its sad when modern masterpeice is so predictable that even an average joe like me can predict it won't be good
also 30:21 which of diamondbolts videos did you get that from?
I didn't. Diamondbolt and firebyte helped out for this one
@@DrLockdown oh ok didn't know that
also why is firebyte Ahkmou? that doesn't make much sense given Ahkmou's character, is there something I'm missing or am I reading too far into a joke about obnoxious fanboys?
My boi Bolt was in this?! My lord and saviour has come to free me from the terrible world, that is reality itself.
Actually there are no movable engine noozles in the actual F-15, so that is not really accurate :P
Huh...so it's pointless
Based on this, would you DIS-recommend getting the MP Skywarp figure which will use this figure as its foundation?
Definitely not. I'm getting maketoys acid storm and deformation space Starscream, so imma get back to you on those and see if they're better options
@@DrLockdown My minion wanted the Skywarp version, but if you think it won't be any better, then he may recant...
Yeah I don't trust them on this. The last run had a bunch of mild degredation
Lovely video a nice watch. I wonder if you'll review the infinite transformations emperor of destruction
Transformers cyberverse battle class starscream has a waist swivel Why doesn't he have one?
Grapple was the key moment I started HATING the slavish cartoon accuracy.
Here you have a figure that originally did have waist articulation now have it taken away simply to move the tires oh so slightly to be cartoon accurate.
Bring back Hasui, the Lambo's and Datsuns are fantastic.
... and release Deep Cover to complete the range and FINALLY make Mirage, I can happily stop collecting MP's then.
Hasui basically did the majority of the WFC line. If you want his style, you can still get it, only for less of a hefty price tag.
The new dinobots are his work too, which is why they turned out so well
@@DrLockdown My friend has been happy with the Dino's. He is looking forward to getting the team to end his collection on a high, I'll have to let him know that factoid, he also enjoys the Hasui MP's.
And no wonder I've been enjoying the output from this trilogy, good to know.
I believe the SS86 Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime were by the MP designer for MP Hot Rod V2 is that correct?
I'm not sure about that one. Could very well be true, but it's the first I've heard about it
Glad I got the knock off, actually seems better made.
I can only hope and pray that Skids and Crosscut turn out alright.
_Dear god, please let those be good. o_o''_
Yeah really concerned with those
Mp-52 has earthrise Starscream look like a masterpiece and comparison
Feels like one too
You know seeing this video and the day it was released makes me ask: Jobbythehong and DrLockdown collaboration when?
Tbh new age and magic square both have better mps than official takara haha.
Dunno about magic square. Heard awful things about that one
@@DrLockdown oh I meant I general. Like over all figures in legends are better then the official mps. Not just seekers sorry for not being clear
:(
Uhhh, did you miss a voice clip at 20:51-53? It just goes quiet here when it feels like you were supposed to finish the previous sentence.
Ah bugger. Rendering error.
I really wish people would call out Takara on their fumbling of the Masterpiece line. It seriously baffles me that this is one of the only video reviews I’ve seen that views modern Masterpiece negatively and points out its faults. The only other ones I’ve seen are Jobby’s reviews on Bumblebee v2, Arcee, and your review of Star Saber.
Not many do because what they want is accuracy, and they get it. They're covered
19:45 no... and this is a problem for Masterpiece figures (except Beast Wars figures, what the hell ?!)
Glad someone agrees
Uh just to point something out the middle pods on the chest, I only seen him do that in Deathbattle against Rainbow Dash, but I highly doubt it’s canon to the G1 show (which is fitting cause Deathbattle really does a horrible job with their research)
Man this toy has some conflicting reviews, but this one convinces me to stick with the cartoon colored MP3. even if it is not cartoon acurate at all.
Also
h...how do you know this toy is as expensive as an hour with a woman of the night?
And now we got mp-55 where takara went to their game and made a good bot with both good forms.....not looking at you Jetfire
I'm not great with numbers. Was that skids? I got reboost and he's great
@@DrLockdown No that was Nightbird.
That thumbnail made me giggle.
I'm just gonna get the deformation starscream
Idk if someone pointed this out but : 18:43 is that supposed to be that way?
Ah dammit. Another render error. Why must premiere pro forsake me such..
@@DrLockdown I feel your pain
Honesty, giving the quality of Masterpiece MP-52 Starscream, was this the case of the team rushing this figure?
your miss transforming the wings you see those hinges on the back of the wing. your supposed to open that and hide the tail fins in that cavity
My mistake
Oh hi 7-11 Ultra Magnu-IMEAN Convoy...
Comment spammer gonna be like:
you'll gonna make me look the fool! look the fool!
Deformation Crimson Wing, Is the best MP screamer. Edit: that little flash that you pre-ordered it 🤣.
I mean he could be, or he could be garbage. He isn't even out yet, so we don't know
This to me is one of the best Starscream figures out there on the market.
Honestly I think the figure is bad regardless of which way you transform the wings
how dare you disrespect kawamori's work, he was the one who DESIGNED the original F-14 Jet robo for takara in the first place. all of his designs are perfect
My Favourite is MP 29. Shockwave is Awesome.
I prefer quakewave personally, but that was a decent one. Came in before MP began to crash and burn
thoughts on MP Bee 1.0? How does he hold up today
Still great
Good thing I got Shouki and Mp 10. Should I get skids?
I have reboost. He's pretty good, so I'd say yes
How did you get a bad copy and Jobby got a good copy
$20 core class? Damn Australians got it rough
You miss transformed the wings wrong and you must have gotten a bad copy so tough luck
It's not just me. Most of my friends got stuck with bad QC, and you jump on TFW and you can see a ten page thread with NOTHING but broken copies even worse than mine
Pretty sure you've transformed the wings wrong cause the blue parts are meant to get sandwiched by the actual wings "hiding it"
I personally think seeker shouldn't have a waste swivle because of the nose cone chest it doset look right in my opinion because its glass and not metal if they made it so it did it below the nose cone chest I would love it
But It swivling with the nose cone in the chest fake or not it wouldn't feel right to me like I get metal bending and moving but glass is fragile and wouldn't be able to bend like that abb crunches I see since it can just slide on in but not swivel
