Yep. IMO, Brian is one of the few replacement lead singers in rock history who has managed to top the band's original lead singer (in this case, the legendary Bon Scott). No disrespect to Bon, but Brian just fit AC/DC like a custom suit.
Angus does what a great guitarist does, he plays along with the song and to the music. Whereas many of the so called "shredders" later in the decade did the exact opposite, didn't play within the song and would play over the music. It's no wonder many of them are forgotten while Angus is still rollin along.
The main thing AC/DC wants from a singer is for them to throw all their energy into every note they sing. That's why they liked Bon, and that's why they like Brian.
I saw this tour. My ears are still ringing from it.. Loudest band I heard in my life.. Angus wasn't human. He was nonstop for 90 minutes. A human dynamo..
Phil is really going for it here, throwing in some actual proper drum fills. What a champ. I always thought it was shit he didn’t get a songwriting credit. Listen how integral his particular style is to the feel & swing of all those great songs he plays on.
This is ACDC...proud of this line up...hope Brian returns...and Phil...God bless Mal...love ACDC, there´s not gonna be another band like them, that sound is just unique...
The fact that Brian Johnson became a fan favorite shows you how great of a guy he is as he haves a awesome voice and is just nice wholesome guy with no ego or anything.
@@IHateIdiots21 No, it isn't at all. Angus usually plays with a decent amount of gain, only cleaned up by his lower output pickups. Also, from 1977 onward he used the Schaffer Vega Diversity System's pre-amp both live and in the studio to add boost and compression, which gave him the attack and fatness he likes. I hate how much people suggest Angus plays clean and just cranks the amp, because it just isn't true. Even on the Back In Black album his amps were recorded pretty quiet, sometimes down to around 2 or 3 on the master volumes (most of his JTM-45s were heavily modded, and he also often uses 100W Super Leads with master volumes as well). The only person who ever played just clean and loud in AC/DC is Malcolm. Angus has always preferred more gain, and you can really hear it on albums like Let There Be Rock, Powerage, Back In Black, and The Razors Edge. People seriously need to do some research before they make such bold, incorrect assertions. Hell, Angus' gain was even on 4 or 5 in the Rig Rundown from 2016, and that's not even factoring in the Schaffer Replica before the amp.
@TheInsideJobOf9/11 I think it was either Bon, or Angus that said they caught a one off Geordie show, where Brian was practically singing his balls off, and he was sent to the hospital after the gig and the boys never forgot what happened and were entertained to end about it.
Great live performance. Brian almost eats shit at 1:22, lol. His voice sounds great here. Still very strong and not blown out. And no other drummer can touch Phil Rudd when it comes to playing AC/DC's music.
Everyone is top of their game here. The guitar tone is insane- like perfect razor wire on the verse lick. Phil is just killing it in the pocket. The snare thud/crack is so rock and roll. Check out his snare arm swing at 1:02 LOL he is a beast!

Hats off to this performance! Try to listen the rhythm section over the Angus's solo, you could heard a hammer in face of Mal, Rudd and Cliff. Cliff also trying to grooving at 2:05. Amazing live performance
When this show took place, I was a three year old about 15 miles away in Fairfax, VA. Glad to know on what was probably a cold December night, people in the DC area had something radical to Rock to!
I was at the Back in Black Tour in San Antonio. Of the ton of live shows that I've seen over the years, this concert is still burned in my mind as the most powerful, badass thing that I've ever seen! Great memories!
Hats off to Brian he literally screamed his balls off for this band.& is still in his prime here. But unfortunately after Flick of the Switch he was never the same, he really lost that raw power
Would also contend that Brian still sounded pretty good through Who Made Who, notably on Fly on the Wall, in spite of the production. I have a hard time listening to The Razor's Edge due to his noticeably deteriorated voice.
brian sounds so fuuuucking good here. killr performance

It's better live, that's what I love about it because the audience join in
+Mike S Brian is amazing but no one could top Bon I'm sorry
Jack Dent It's cool. To each his own.
Brian Johnson. A total powerhouse. His vocals cut like a razorblade here.
He made ACDC badass
AC/DC is like one of the toughest and most badass sounding bands there is whether it be Bon or Brian
Agreed, brother
Angus' solo in this has to be one of the best rock history. The feel. The phrasing. So grit. Takes it to another level. Not just "technical" ability.
Angus does what a great guitarist does, he plays along with the song and to the music. No auto-tune. Nothing taped. Just guitars, bass, drums, and vocals. Oh--and a landslide of badassery.
Yep, no messing about with these guy, just hard edged rock n roll.
That is why AC/DC is the best
Only sound adjustment going on was Angus making sure his guitar was at 11 for the solo
Basically when music was REAL music. Long live ACDC!!!!!!! 🤟
Real music
This concert really needs to be remastered 😫.. Brian sounds like a beast throughout the whole concert..
Personally I think Brian is one of the best singers in rock ever. I'd put him on the Mount Rushmore of singers right next to Freddie Mercury.

@Jacob Molyneux Exactly
@EpiDemic117 I'm pretty sure Angus uses a lot more gain than people make it out to be, it's that or the volume just overdrive's the valves
Angus' sound come from the volume he plays at. It's just the natural overdrive of a Marshall pegged. And its beautiful.
