- SZA has GOT to be the most overrated, low-vibrational singer I have EVER listened to. Am I Sleepin' on SZA? In this video, I check out some songs from SZA's CTRL album, SOS album and her 3 EPs See.SZA.Run, S and Z, to see if I was sleeping on her catalog by not checking her out sooner. I have NEVER listened to music from any TDE artist before outside of a couple of Kendrick Lamar songs. So I had to see what their camp is capable of.

You can’t deny she’s a good SINGER. Even if her lyrics are bad and sometimes she’s hard to understand, she still has a lot of vocal talent, range, smooth voice and vibrato.

I think I understand why you’re not such a big fan of Sza. I feel like her fan base is more geared towards women and the experiences of being an insecure person in general, and you strike me as someone who is very confident in themself so I feel like she just isn’t that relatable, if that makes sense?
I already explained this in the outro lol. It's seriously not as deep as you're making it seem.
SZA is just boring as hell to me. I listen to RnB music all the time and I love several female artists. Kehlani, Ella Mai and Tink are easy examples of modern day RnB artist that I rock with.
It has absolutely nothing to do with me not being able to relate to her or me not being the target audience. SZA's songs are just boring as hell 🤣.

I guess we just have different taste with R&B music lol. Personally, I love my R&B to feel very euphoric and emotional with very dynamic and beautiful sounding vocals and SZA checks those boxes for me. Add on her pretty impressive songwriting and now she’s one of my favorite R&B artists period. I respect you giving her a chance and keeping it real tho 💯

I used to listen to sza ALOT when I was in high school; and the songs made me feel so good. I used to be a MASSIVE FAN but After 2020, I kinda stopped listening to her because I felt she wasn't in the same space that kept me drawn to her music. I honestly felt like she was talking about nothing, rambling or just doing too much. Her older music had a chokehold on me, but now I'm like ehh its whatever. My favorite song from her used to be Time Travel Undone. My sister calls her music mumble singing 😂

I used to looove Sza’s old music, which i really just mean Z and her tracks with Isaiah Rashad. (If you like warm winds i would recommend) The vibes, I progressively became less of a fan as she got more, accessible. Meaning easier to listen to to typical rnb listeners. She’s still great regardless

felt like her lyrics aren’t too bad, the goal when you’re big is to be more basic to reach a wider base so I don’t really hold that against her
But, the way she does chords and harmonies, has always rubbed me the wrong way, like it’s dry, and flat, but also tuned and compressed upwards like a falsetto being turned up a ton
I been said she’s a good industry Wiccan, creating new baby mamas since 2015! Not to mention, she’s an industry plant through her father 🤷♂️
That being said, don’t take critique as hate, I LOVE her outlook on life and music, and her openness when creating art, industry plant or not, THAT mindset is everything, and I LOVE the passion she clearly shows for music.

I never thought I'd do this because it may look like I didn't pay attention to the usual disclaimer of these videos (1:13); but if Amiri says he has not heard a single song from an artist, that is the opportunity to recommend some of their more popular/commercial records. Based on his criticism on SZA, it definitely would've helped her case because they also seem like her BEST songs. I'm not saying you need to request all of them, but more people definitely should've requested more than ONE ("Broken Clocks")! Y'all didn't do her justice.

This video was interesting to see since SZA’s one of those artists that, while I get why folks do like her as a performer and she’s got songs with others or by herself I like, I’ve found myself generally not seeking out her material. It probably doesn’t help that my first time listening to her was her song “Love Galore” with Travis Scott. I’ll admit I haven’t heard it in awhile, but whenever I have, I’ve never liked it and find it to be boring and, when I’ve seen the praise for it, very over rated. Yeah I said it. Don’t @ me.

In my opinion she was super unique in the beginning, probably peaked in Ctrl, and didn’t deliver as much on sos. She has a few great songs from there, but it felt lyrically weak
