    Hi! I made the cake and it was amazing! However, I didn't let it cool down much, so when I removed it from the form, the caramel was too liquid and dripped of the top of the cake together with the pecans. My mom tried the recipe, too, but she let it cool down for too long, so that the caramel was too hard and couldn't removed the parchment paper! How long should we wait then, and how liquid should the caramel be before baking?

    • @HowTasty
      @HowTasty  6 месяцев назад

      Hello! The caramel on top shouldn’t turn out completely hard when cake cooled down, I suppose your mother cooked the caramel too much or at too high temperature on the stove top. I usually unmold it when it cools down, the timing depends on the room temperature where you live…at least 45 minutes, even more.

    Please help!…..love this channel by the way….I made this beautiful cake yesterday, but something went wrong for me, I always treble check my ingredients, so it’s not that, it didn’t state the egg size so I used medium (I’m in uk) or equivalent is large in US, …..I noticed my batter was a little looser than in the video, otherwise everything seemed ok. After 55 minutes, I checked cake and my skewer came out clean, cake looked EXACTLY same on top as video. Once cool though, as I turned it out, there seemed to be a little oil dripping from tin (clear and it tasted like oil) then when I sliced it, it looked almost wet (sponge was cooked) and in places through the cake the syrup off nuts had run up through cake like lightening strikes 🤔….if I got a piece of cake and squished it it sounded like a wet sponge. I’m totally dumbfounded and would really appreciate advice, I definitely definitely had all the ingredients measured right, I always do in case something goes wrong with a bake I know I’ve got that part right! Thanks in advance…..Jan xx

    • @HowTasty
      @HowTasty  Год назад +1

      Hello Delilah! Well, it's quite normal that the caramel wet a bit the cake, I think you can notice that in my video too. But if your cake looked a tue sponge soaked into a liquid, it's possibile you should add a bit of extra flour in the pound cake batter (every flour is diffferent and maybe your flour absorb less liquid than mine) and maybe you should cook a bit more the caramel on the stovetop to make it more thicker. It's pretty hard to say what went wrong with your cake because many things could influence a baking (the oven, the pan size...), but I hope these tips could help you!
