I waited for 18 long months for my visa to come back, but I'm finally moving to Melbourne from the UK! 🎊 Thank you for these videos. They've been really helpful
Melb is arguably the biggest city in Australia (because most migrants and overseas students - not counted in census- come to Melbourne these days) and people are more active than Sydney, that's why Covid spreads really fast in Melbourne, just about 2 or 3 days it becomes a big problem
Smallest state, 2nd largest population, biggest international port that provides 1/3 of everything. After lockdown was the biggest growth in all of Australia
Thank you! Very interesting most people don’t give political warnings about moving to a new place. It’s important but never crossed my mind, thank you!
I’m getting ready to travel back in November to visit my parents and take my son to have his visa renewed. Only a short visit. Then I plan to go back again in March ‘23. Watching the air fares change. Watching the reports of flooding across Australia… the financial burden of flood recovery and likely fires in the summer. Watching the vaccine rules for returning into USA.
I just got a visa sponsorship job to come to Australia Melbourne and as excited as that makes me feel, the fear of snakes invasion is making me want to turn down the offer. Please is this as bad as I have read on the internet?
Insects and snakes are definitely not common here! I am a resident here and have been living here since 2018! You won;'t encounter one at all unless you move to regional areas.
What wimbletone said is right. I've been here since 2017 and have never encountered anything bigger than insects since living it the city. Come on down, it'll be fun!
I’m from chicago and applied for a job in Melbourne. I need a change of pace! 😌I have two young kids under 5. Hubby can work from home so that’s not a problem. What are your thoughts about traveling to Melbourne with kids, apartment hunting, etc. cost of living. ..How long did it take to get your visa? Thanks!
Hey! Melbourne is perfectly fine for kids. There are a lot of young families here. In my experience it's very safe, even the more metro parts of the city and since the weather is mild you can do things outdoors year round. Cost of living varies here depending on where you choose to live. If you want to live in or near the city, the price goes up. If you prefer the suburbs, you get more bang for your buck. It really comes down to your preference and budget. Apartment hunting is pretty good here, you can pre-emptively start looking at places/prices using sites like Realestate.com.au. Just note that rent is calculated weekly here vs monthly (though you'll pay monthly haha). My visa took about 2.5 months back in 2017. Hope this helps, but feel free to reach out with any other questions. Best of luck on your application 🤞🏾
It's honestly not bad in the cities. There are small spiders, the huge ones live in rural areas/suburbs. I've never seen anything scary in my years of living in the city. It's great down here, you should definitely give it a try!
Melbourne's come back to life now, vaccine mandates and passports will keep our economy open, and people safe. Australians are generally not as distrustful of their governments as people in other countries (despite the insane and unnecessary protests) so Victorians for the most part believe the government is acting in the population's best interests.
In other words, they're mindless sheeple who don't mind having all their freedoms curtailed by an authoritarian government as long as they thing they're safe?
@@terryomalley1974 poor you, feel sorry for your sad attitude of me, me,me. Try thinking of the whole for a change and things may flow along better like in other States we are happily finding
can’t understand why people keep coming to Melbourne … don’t believe the hype … it’s boring, the weather is crap and it’s been a massive dump for at-least the last 10 to 15 years

Knock knock lol. It's cheap to travel in Victoria now. For instance, a bus ticket from Melbourne to Mildura and return is only $16:)

I just got my visa today after 7 agonizing months of waiting!
Yeepee!!!
YAY! That's awesome! You're going to have an amazing time when you get here!

Have you visited Mildura in North West Victoria? It's awesome up there I heard. Lots of fruit picking and stuff.
Fruit pickers in Mildura are poorly paid, if at all.
The people who run the fruit operations along the Murray are often crooks.
Thank you!

Are you still in Australia? I’ve followed you on IG but haven’t seen any posts. Would really love to connect, Sis!

All of this needs to be done in America! And this is exactly the reason I’m looking to move. So thanks ( BTW I’m stuck in FL) 😂
Looking to move from LA in the next few years!
Hopefully it works out! I think you'll love it!
Thank you for taking time to share this information. Staying in a city with an ethnic population is necessary, helps the home away from home effect.
It definitely helps to be in a place where you can find familiar faces or a form of community if you come here on your own
