    This is THE most complete, comprehensive review I've ever watched. You covered everything.
    We bought 2 of these bikes a month or so ago & got each for $749. We've been riding ebikes for 8 yrs. Our previous bikes were 500W motors, so I see a big difference. We now live in a rural, hilly area & these bikes handle our hills ezpz.
    Tom, thanks once again for all the time ( and sweat) you put into your reviews.
    NW Missouri appreciates you. Stay safe & keep riding.

      Thank you! It’s definitely a fun bike to cruise around on. $749 is a smoking deal for all that you get with the bike. Hopefully your weather is more riding friendly in Missouri haha! Enjoy the rides. I’m probably going to take the bike up north to Flagstaff this summer for some rides in the mountains where it’s a lot cooler.

    Distance with these usually as noted isnt near the max stated due to weather, wind, temp etc..
    well put review mate
    gonna get an ebike later on but we have winter here that will sink battery time and distance a lot.

    Fantastic review and testing of the eblike. It is very helpful in me deciding on an ebike purchase.

    Hi, Tom. Good, thorough review. I’ve had my L20 for 4 weeks now. Power is definitely good, but as you say, it takes getting used to. In throttle only mode it would be nice if there was a smooth start instead of the instant jerk. Maybe it’s the Hall effect twist throttle but probably just the high power battery…I don’t like instant full throttle just trying to have a constant slow speed.. The motor has quite a loud whine that I’ll get used to. The brakes are “poor”. I’ve reported this to Engwe today, expect a response soon. I don’t feel safe on a 10 degree hill, because it won’t stop the bike fast enough. In city riding where there are kids, dogs, slower riders, etc, risk of a collision is high.

      @tomsgadgetgarage  Месяц назад

      Thank you! I’m hoping in future iterations of this bike that they include advanced P settings to adjust power delivery, PAS sensitivity, etc. I know it’s available in some of their higher priced bikes. It would make a pretty huge difference.
      As for the brakes, I think it would benefit a lot from having hydraulic brakes. That way you get more stopping power with less effort. With the L20 having manual brakes, you have to really squeeze the brake levers to stop abruptly.

      Thank you! The Y600 is an interesting scooter. I haven't considered Engwe scooters before, but I can look into it.

    Still deciding either Jasion eb7, eb7 st, full suspension. Let see the comparison. Tye good thing with jasion the battery is secured. Maybe it's matters a bit with Engwe, it's hydraulic brake, and the range. It's hard to decide if your budget below 1grand.

    I hate that when you turn it off the battery will be up 2 bars again . I feel the indicator isn’t correct .( I get on and off the bike a lot turning it off and on because I do deliveries )

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  26 дней назад

      Yah unfortunately with e-bikes the battery level indicator is wildly inaccurate. I’d keep an eye on voltage. Fully charged is around 58v, 50% is 50.4v, and depleted is around 42v.

      So they don’t sell the 2.0 in the UK. They have the original L20 and it’s listed at £949 which is quite a bit more than US.

    My Engwe L20 2.0 arrived missing the front fender. Bought directly from the Engwe home site. Their customer service has taken weeks of back and forth and now they tell me I should have made an unboxing video.

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  2 месяца назад

      That’s really unfortunate. You can’t reasonably expect people to make unboxing videos. Are they going to send you the fender?

      Mine came with a misshapened back rack and a bad innertube in the rear wheel...the valve was snapped off. But hopefully once I get it up and running again it won't give me anymore problems.

      @@tomsgadgetgarage I'm located in Europe. I think it disappeared on the US website for a while but they added it back. Sadly, it won't be available here in Europe - I sent them an email and they told me that "L20 2.0 is a product targeted for US market, so it will not be available in the EU shop". Still a great bike, will have to search for some similar options then

      Ugh that’s unfortunate. It really is a nice bike with an even nicer price tag. Thanks for the update on the Europe availability.

      Thanks for the in depth review. I got mine for $699 a few weeks ago, no taxes and free shipping. I’ve been struggling with the front tire. I notice a side to side wobble when riding and the brakes were rubbing and no matter what I tried, I couldn’t get it properly adjusted. They sent me a new rotor but it didn’t fix it. I ended up buying a new brake on Amazon and it helped a little, but now I can’t get rid of the wobble. I even deflated and reseated the tire, but it didn’t fix it. It doesn’t affect the ride, but it’s more visually annoying if anything. But it is a fun bike to ride and has plenty of power. It walks up hills with ease compared to my Lectric XP 2.0. And even does better than my bigger and heavier Radrover 6. I guess I’ll learn to live with the little bit of wobble in the front tire and hope it doesn’t cause any issues.

    What’s the output for the motor. Is it legal on uk roads ?

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  Месяц назад

      So it’s got a nominal output of 750W and peak 1125W. I believe the UK has a 250W restriction. There’s more info here electroheads.com/blogs/news/electric-bikes-legal-uk-law#:~:text=Electric%20bikes%20are%20classified%20as%20%E2%80%98electrically%20assisted%20pedal,output%20of%20250W%20No%20electric%20assistance%20over%2015.5mph..

  • @loogan7440

    so its 250w or 750? why somebody says its first, others says its 750w?

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  2 месяца назад

      It’s definitely 750W nominal/1125W peak. 250W would be an awfully slow experience with essentially zero hill climb ability.

    question ? i have the previouse versio of this bike , and within twoo mounths the saddle bar broke off and engwe sent me a hole new frame but it seems like a difficult job to do the switch do you have any syggestions ?thnx

    • @tomsgadgetgarage
      @tomsgadgetgarage  Месяц назад +2

      So it sounds like you’ll need to transfer everything from the old frame to the new one. My suggestion would be to take lots of pictures before you get started. That way it’ll be easier to piece it all back together. Just make sure you have all the right tools before you start.
