Now I've had the Engwe X24 for a while it's time for the full review. It's a great ebike and as far as Ebikes go it has really high spec - hydraulic brakes, triple suspension, dual battery and Shimano Altus gears for example. But the Engwe X24 has a few issues that may be deal breakers for you. Check out this very interesting electric bike from Engwe.

The mudguards are not the main negative. But we might have a way to fix it!

Obviously not road legal , and this new crap about registering it just does my head in .I am sick of UK laws my mountain bike will do 25mph easily and you don`t need to register it .Why does the US allow this bike on their roads and we don`t after all it is the exact same bike .Things have got to change here .They want us all out of cars and on to bikes but as soon as you buy one they punish you .where`s the common sense here, it is totally nuts

This country stinks big time .They charge us big for the bikes then they try to charge us again for getting out of cars and not polluting the air .You couldn`t make it up. This kind of policy will destroy the Ebike industry in the UK , it is ill thought out and utterly stupid

I think with mudguards, front and rear racks and better lighting, this could be a great all terrain hunting style ebike for riding through woods.

Had my x26 2 month now. Yes it needs mudguards, but Not sure with the rear suspension how a mudguard would fasten. That rear suspension could be better, as could the gearing, but be warned the hub/ gears are old fashioned screw fit freewheel so u won't be able to put mega gears on, to make it easier to pedal, no power it's a heavy bike and
Its heavy and not easy to pedal anywhere without power.
Fantastic looking bike and another great in-depth review but the deal breaker for me and all bikes that look like that one is the wire run, im a neat freak and love hidden wires, those running under the frame are definite no no for me, i know you cant hide all the wires but that bike looks like a scruffy home conversion.
yes thats why i love my ebike i dont freaking sweat from riding, my back used to get absolutely freaking soaking wet from riding my bike...

na man i stick to 15mph mostly except when its really quiet at night, dont want my bike taken off me its already not allowed so dont wana pull attention (: and im happy with 15.5 anyways just wish was 20 in countryside areas and see no reason why 20 would harm anyone on the roads getting in and out of town, but i agree with 15.5 in town areas ect where alot of pedestrians are.
Just ride at 20 seriously nobody will look twice. People on normal bikes ride faster than 20mph all the time.@@nul1fe

Not even close. $55 a set and not available for months to come. I even contacted the company In advance of receiving the bike and they had no idea when or if the fenders would ever be in stock again. Probably added the guts of $100 in resale value.

I like engwe there aftermarket team is good as well ive put almost 7000 miles on my engwe m20 since i got it in august. And have rode it in rain and yet it runs just fine. I would say its worth the 1450 i paid though now its on sale for 1200.
I have just ordered the X24 of Amazon , but still waiting for it, so found you video very useful . I used my olde ebike for work and will be using the 24 for the same use . How strong are foldable e-bikes ? As section I Hoover tree roots that make my old bike uncomfortable. How well will the x24 do? I love the fact that the x24 can give me 100 miles use with out charging but in what mode and speed will that be in . Can the x24 be ridden with out the batteries be one if they runout of charge ?
It's tough but doable to ride these without power. Roots should be fine. The hinge is decent. Have fun when it arrives 🤟🤟

Engwe may supply them. You can get mud guard attachments but I'm not sure the rear type that comes off the saddle stem would fit.
Did you pick up the key that you dropped when unlocking the battery?
In the end but it took me a while. I wasn't aware that I dropped it until later.

Nope not allowed but just limit the speed I'm from the Netherlands we have the same rules I ride a DIY ebike with bafang middrive 750w
I had an X26. I think Engwe tried to do to many things in one bike and it just does not work. At 5'7" the X26 was also just way too tall for me. I ended up trading it for a hyper scooter with another RUclipsr.
I love that it's so different but it's like the designer tried to make his kid a Christmas present.
I imagine that the engineers gave the marketing department a checklist of options. They checked all the boxes and ignored the "check only three" note at the bottom.
I wish someone near me had used one for sale. It's a unique looking beast of bike. 6'5in 225, perfect for me....
Having no mud guards is a BIG deal breaker for me cool looking bike but without mud guards for a off road type bike (tires) is stupid especially if you cant find one to fit with having that extra saddle rack

Depends what you want it for. An engwe M20 with 2 batteries will go as far. Bit torqier but slower top speed. Lots of ebikes faster at this price but not many with speed AND range.
Do you think they make it foldable to save on shipping?

Pretty sure it wasn't folded in the box. Yeah bikes like this don't benefit much from folding apart from battery access
Es una bicicleta ilegal en Europa desde enero de 2024. La nueva normativa de la DGT la clasifica como "ciclo a motor", y no viene homologada para darle de alta como tal. Si Policía o Guardia Civil te pillan con ella la multa es gorda, porque aunque la limites a 25 km/h, el motor sigue siendo de 1000 W, y pesa más de 40 kg. Buscad la normativa, es fácil de encontrar.

As always a great video, this one is a NO for me, no mudguards, pointless back seat, not easy to turn off and I don't think it looks that good, and at 1500 just not worth it, thanks for the review
Cheers. I was looking at some mudguards in Halfords today - wrapped around the top tube and the saddle stem. Not sure they'd work on this bike due to the battery under the saddle but they looked a good solution for other bikes with no mud guards. But yeah the decision to not need a key is insane imho.

If Engwe offered you one free bike from their current range, which one would you pick?
Me as the youtuber, I'd go P275, me choosing my favourite of the ones I've tried I'd go L20. Me as a kid I'd choose M20. Me as a commuter, I'd choose the E26 which will be in my next video.

In Europe it is illegal. New regulations from January 2024. The new European regulations classify it as a “motorcycle”, and it is not approved to be registered as such. If the Police or the Civil Guard catch you with it, the fine is heavy, because even if you limit it to 25 km/h, the motor is still 1,000 W, and it weighs more than 40 kg. Look for the regulations, it is easy to find.
Too many compromises.
Please stop chopping back and to between day and night, and different topics. You make it very confusing tryng to keep track of what you are actually talking about! The 3mph throttle setting comes in handy for when you have to walk, pushing the bike, ie a no cycling precinct, as it is such a heavy beast.
