Lol. I know exactly where you live from this video. You're not very far from me. 😊 I have the Engwe and paid only $600 from eBay when they had a code.
I really really like the look and color of that other bike. And that rear rack looks 1000x more solid and stronger.
But it might be more likely to get stolen. I plan to use my Engwe as a grocery Hauler and it's more boring design might make it less like to get stolen while parked outside stores.

How do they compare to your Lectric 3? If you were buying today which one would you choose? I ordered a Portola because I needed the lightest weight to lift on my own and I’m a 5’6” female
I would go with the Lectric today because of my height. Otherwise the Portola was my second pick. Congratulations and enjoy your new ebike!
I have the Engwe L20 2.0 on the way right now. In the FB group, no one seems to know how to adjust the PAS settings so the power distribution is more evenly spaced out between levels. Do you have any additional info on how to customize the settings on that bike? I've done similar adjustments on my Aniioki bike, but I don't know if these LCD menus are standardized or universal at all and I don't want to brick the Engwe by accident... lol. Thanks and great video.
Doesn't one always pedal in circles, by default/definition?
For my definition it meant I am pedaling too hard for the highest gear. Should be a little slower.
The L20 2.0 doesn't have a cadence sensor, it's fitted with a torque sensor so the power delivered is determined by how hard you're pushing through the pedals, not just whether you're turning them. This is supposed to deliver a more typical biking feeling but means you do have to pedal to get assistance unless you just use the throttle.

You don't speak much about about the stock 52v 13ah whereas the Portola is 48v 10ah and cost $100 extra to upgrade also the Engwe is 75 Nm torque opposed to 50 Nm for the Portola so more power for pulling hills. The Portola is $350 more at checkout with a 13ah batt.
I went off of feel. How they both felt when riding. The electric only on the Engwe felt superior to the Portola and I'm sure that's because of the 52 volt. As far as out of the box settings with the Cadence sensor the Portola felt like it was setup better for my liking.
Portola is actually 65 torque, not 50
@@MrNigeltree I almost bought the portols allbeit for thier checkout was problomatic at payment,so they lost out and i bought the Engwe,both good value, being a heavy rider the extra power can't hurt.
So it's a tie when Engwe hit's a grand.
