Got my Hoof GP hat yesterday. Wore it to the market today and had too many people to count, come up to me and say they were HGP fans. I live in rural coastal Oregon. The grocery is in a town, not very large. The HGP has a lot of followers thousands of miles away. Nearly on the other side of the world. Keep up the great show. Old dairyman.

@@TheHoofGP I spoke with Enoch the cow vet the other day. We were comparing our relatives service during the Vietnam War. I said something about the cow he was working on and that I should have known better for saying it and Enoch said I must be talking about The HGP AND THAT YOU WERE GREAT. I ANSWERED WHY YES! I just got my Herd Tshirt in the mail that day. It’s so pretty. A bit snug in the neck as I’m an old lady and things tend to spread out at my age including my neck. But I’ll put it on and strut around like a peacock for a bit. I guess I should say like a peahen but still strutting with my new Herd Tshirt on. So you sure are known all around the states is what I was trying to say even though I don’t think Enoch is still here. He’s a nice guy. Bit of a sense of humor. But I’ve got a husband of 54 yrs and 2 grown men for sons so there’s not much I haven’t heard.

Noticed a lot of these types of channels draw a lot of people because its relaxing and just feels natural to watch. Personally I think its because this kind of straightforward work is more natural to us, closer to the kind of tasks weve had as humans for 1000s of years. Its straight to the point, you see the progress and you can see the result when its done. Even if its someone else doing the actual work its still connecting to something in us.

    Alright, I'll play the game.
Edit: Huh... I might have absorbed some knowledge over the many videos. 😅
Hoof 1: Not too overgrown. Adjust the toe lengths. Model it out. She has a little ulcer-to-be at the typical sole ulcer site, but this should stop it from manifesting. The slight cracking on the medial wall horn doesn't seem to go to anything; no need to remove it as it'll shed naturally.
Hoof 2: Don't need to remove much height. Level the toes, then model it out. Code yellow. Make sure that cracking on the axial wall horn of the medial claw doesn't travel up as you do.
Hoof 3: Looks like they've been trimmed recently, so she just needs to be dished out. Some hemorrhaging is present, so maybe a deeper dish to relieve the pressure for a bit.

Instead of being stuck on a hard concrete stall with their head stuck in a metal stanchion and only moved for milking and right back. Pneumonia a common ailment for the cows stuck that way. Differences in growth patterns seem to be a big thing for weaknesses, at least when it comes to keratin (the substance that our nails, cows' hooves and hair of all kinds are made of). As an example, some breeds of sheep have a natural change in the way their wool grows at a certain point in the year, and that means that, if that change is pronounced enough, the wool can literally be pulled off them without harming the sheep (for Shetland sheep, the process is called "rooing"). With that in mind, the idea that the junction between the two types of hoof horn would be the classic site for sole fracture makes all kinds of sense to me.

Love these guessing games! I work with horses and understand their feet quite well, but I love that I can say I have a fairly good understanding of cows feet and do not bad picking what's going on with them as well!
Thank you Graeme I've learnt so much over the last 3 years.

The way you answer to any criticism is perfect, explaining the fine details from video video, to me is what separates you from all the other hoof trimmers on you tube, while most of them have the same good qualities👍

Now I look forward to your videos. They're entertaining, informative ... and oddly relaxing.

I have been watching your videos for a while now and I honestly love how much care and attention you and the farmers pay to these wonderful animals. I lived in Spain where there are lots of battery farming of large animals such as pigs. We should be very proud of our farming industry and not settle for meat that originated in other countries because just because it is cheaper.

I have no idea why I watch these videos. I don't own any cows. I don't work with any cows. My only interaction with any cows is when I have them for dinner. And yet, this is absolutely fascinating to watch and learn about while giving me a bit of a warm feeling to see these animals being so well cared for.

I'm not into cattle or anything like that. Wouldn't mind owning a cow one day but I've never been around them. These hoof trimming videos are so very informative and actually somewhat interactive with the viewer. I got say man you know how to produce a video. I also gotta say based on what I see you really know your hooves and the dedication, time, and effort you put into bringing these animals back to better health makes me believe you truly do love this career and care about the wellbeing of the animals you care for. Good stuff man. I'm learning a lot from you.

Do you have EasyFix for the crush? I haven't seen any, but I would think the lovely ladies would enjoy it as part of their mani/pedis. Especially for the feisty ones. When they get stomping or have an extended stay in the crush, they might like the comfort of EasyFix. A few times I even yelled it out as if you could hear me. 😂 Like your crush has changed hoof trimming for you. Fitting it with EasyFix will be a game changer for the 10s of thousands cows and bulls. Looking forward to you speaking and/or showing how you changed the crush by adding EasyFix. Love your videos and you all!Stay Safe!

Hey Graham. Massive fan of the channel here. Very big fan of “the game” in this episode. I regularly watch the videos on mute beforehand before watching again to see how much I know.
I got fooled by the blue patch on cow one, but did correctly guess the 2nd had been recently trimmed.
I think it would be great if you could partner up with someone and come up with a fun/educational App/game based on hoof trimming. Looking at the most common problems and how to spot the.
I’d happily pay money for it, as I’m sure would all of us in the HERD!!
