    The turning off wifi and other broadcast to save battery is true. Your phone will constant send request and search for network access and if you are in a location with weak or no signal. That action can drain your battery very fast.

  • @Portknocks
    @Portknocks 6 лет назад +98

    Can't agree with 2 and 10. When someone is doing heavy usage (RUclips, IG, gaming) and charging their phone at the same time.... It causes the phone to get extremely hot which could lower the life expectancy of the battery. It's the same thing as what you said for number 10 due to overheating. As someone who works on computers, overcharging is real no matter what tasks are being done on the computer. If you leave the power cord in 24/7 it will take a couple years but your battery will only last 30 minutes or less.

    Many great points! #9. You shouldn't leave your charger plugged in because of the continuous amount of "ghost power" that is used while it continues to convert 120v to 5v. It does damage the charger since the longer it is in use, the shorter its life span, but the issue with leaving it plugged in all the time is the amount of unnecessary kilowatt hours it can use throughout the years. Keep up the good work!

      @@stephensnell1379 It is correct information according to the battery specialist who I asked ( working at a Samsung authorized repair facility specializing in batteries of all kinds). Though it doesn't charge the battery, it keeps the battery in a state of stress and can drastically shorten a battery's life. I have also experienced this first hand with an Apple device and a Samsung device. Maybe not every device will have the issue (and I'm glad yours did not), but MANY will and have. I hope you have a great day and that your batteries stay strong! :)

      @@ayushjha2345 Answering for @LI-First Films Productions from my regular account: According to the battery store personnel, it doesn't matter if it is on or off, the battery might be damaged by leaving it on a charger for too long after it is already at 100%. But, as @Stephen Snell said, this may be fixed with newer phones. I know that my Galaxy Note 10+ had battery damage because I always kept it charging while in the car (hours on end since I deliver packages). But, I hope the newer generations of phones have fixed this. Laptops have had this problem solved for a long time now. Best practice, only have it charging when it needs it. When it's done, disconnect it. 😀

Yes battery itself stops charging once it reaches %100 but phone itself drains battery then charges again and again. Also they don't know how different chargers work, 1A 2A or more, charger amperes are different

      *Good point amps are the most relevant thing to charging! (and screen brightness to battery life)* Also using higher amperage chargers then your phone came with should be fine. Electronics should almost certainly only pull the pressure (Amps) needed to do their designated work. This is not a hardfast rule but I've never heard of a problem. The technology hasn't changed. Anode on one side, cathode on the other. Electrons travel through a membrane separating the two. Lithium-Ion is better, but it still wears out the membrane in between the two. Barring physical damage, the battery is the part you go get replaced because it wears out not holding as much charge as it did each successive year. It's simple science. Extreme temps make it worse.

    So to summarize
    1. Don't let your battery die or 0% because it will lose its chemical reactions inside thus might damage the battery.
    2. 100% doesn't typically mean full, as it is only an indicator but it is good practice to constantly charge so to avoid #1.
    3. Don't let your battery heat up by leaving it in hot temperatures/conditions. When it is fully charged, plug it off.

    When you are using your phone while charging it it will take way more time because the processor heats when charging and if you are using it it will be even hotter and then it will slow down the processor and charging speed!

    • @harleyme3163
      @harleyme3163 6 лет назад +1

      because its using energy, and yes, heat is a waste byproduct of it... heat does not slow down cpu's by the way, and the cpu is designed to stop itself in the event it overheats.
      anyway... charging bat is faster when your not using it because the cpu is taking some of that power..
      be nice if you could feed cpu and bat enough but those usb wall chargers are only 2 amps

    • @smacznykonsek
      @smacznykonsek 5 лет назад +2

      electrical resistance increases when temperature rises, so CPU’s will slow down when heat increases. Apparently heat (excessive) also shortens CPU’s life. If CPU’s are designed to stop when it overheats I would think this would be in extreme conditions, but I would guess they are designed to slow down gradually to reduce the risk of overheating - but that’s just my guess.
      Like mentioned in the video, even when the smartphone is charging, it most likely has some processes running in the background anyway, but using the smartphone while charging will - like you mentioned - slow down the charging process, but will also additionally increase the temperature of the CPU and battery excessively - especially when using internet with bad network and/or watching videos. Since high temperature is not desirable for the battery and CPU, that should probably be avoided.
      I found with experience that ipad charger, charges the iphone faster, turning airplane mode on also helps however marginally - it decreases the use of battery by reducing processes that consume power while charging.
      Not really sure how accurate this video is, it’s bery generalized at best, but I have been told by apple staff (genius bar) that leaving an iphone plugged in for charging overnigth is not good for the battery, also they said that it’s better to charge the battery full rather than charging it bit by bit. But again this probably is not a major issue with the type of batteries used in todays smartphones, but when done regularly it might have some impact.

    • @aquariaaustin2077
      @aquariaaustin2077 5 лет назад

      Ridiculous. Your phone generates heat WHENEVER it's being used, regardless of whether it's being charged or not, and you're far more likely to get power slowdowns and dangerous overheating from running too many apps at once than you are from the negligible effects of a battery charge.
      If your CPU is overheating from a battery charge, then you're either running too many background apps or something was wrong with the CPU to begin with, because it's designed to handle the heat generation of use while a battery charges.

    • @smacznykonsek
      @smacznykonsek 5 лет назад

      Aquaria,
      I heard that the iOS manadges apps so that even when they run in the background, they don’t consume resources too much - unless ofcourse some of them have background refresh on. So apparently in some cases it’s better to leave apps running in the background than turning them off and on, as loading the app would use more resources. I turn off all unused apps from the background despite that 😀 and only leave the few ones I use regularly and frequently.
      All I was trying to say, is that using the phone while charging will just add to the heating effect and that could have a negative affect on CPU etc.
      See the links below. If charging would’t generate significant additional amount of heat, they probably wouldn’t have advised to remove the phone from certain cases when charging battery.

      22 years of IT EXP here... I say that 50% is BS. Charging your phone and using it is far slower but it is safe to do so. Your phone will charge 70% faster powered down and the one that bugged me was leaving your Bluetooth on while not in use, yes it does drain batteries up to 40% faster. Some they did get right are task managers and turning your screen down and the extreme hot and cold will damage your battery however in the heat your phone will stop charging to save your battery and phone from damage.

    My phone is Moto e4 plus and its battery is very promising that it doesn't run out. It has 5000 mah battery. Its actually a problem too. When I have 50% charge on my phone, I don't charge it again thinking it will last. I suffered a couple of times because of that now I try to drain my battery charge by increasing the brightness and playing videos and music at its maximum volume and it doesn't work so much. Now I have 38% charge on my phone at 7:54 pm. Motorola is old but it's built to last. I have been using my phone for about a year and a few months . It's working perfectly fine and the battery is still a youngster. I'm still getting a 11 to 13 hour battery life even after above a year of using. Thank you Motorola. If you have used Motorola products or still using it like here.😀😀

    Well I am sure now everything brightside says are not true.
    As they said in this video "you can use your phone while charging" which is completely wrong.
    Even if you're doing some normal tasks like checking your emails, your phone will charge little slower than normal(2-5%). But if you're downloading something or playing games your charging process can slow down up to 20% or more than that depending on what you're doing. Because battery is loosing power at same time while charging.
    Definitely I'd not recommend to use your mobile device while charging.
